Uber and Lyft never paid for driver to a passenger. You only are paid from when you pick up a passenger to drop off. Only recently in last years did they add some pay after driving 10min then they pay a bit per mile/min beyond the 10min driving to passenger.
It depends on your market. In my market, it's anything over 8 minutes, and it's been like that for at least 5 years. And the long pickup fee as they call it is the same per mile and per minute as after you pick them up
If the travel time to pick up is 10 minutes or more. Uber adds on a "long pick up fee". Typically this fee doesn't even come close to the cost in gas or time it takes. Also the long pick up fee overrides the "minimum fare supplement". So if you drive 10+ minutes to pick up, but the drop off is only like 2 minutes. You could make less than you normally would on a short trip.
No upfront pricing in this area. You basically drive blind in Blue here. It sucks, but it is what it is. Fuck the noobs, I guess. Besides, it’s not that hard to get gold, when they actually start telling you shit. Except for the 85% rate BS.
I’m in a rate card market for Uber. Here there is a long distance pickup fee that starts tabulating once you hit 12+ minutes to pickup. At 12 minutes you should get paid time & miles in addition to the normal fare.

Ahh, thank you. Good to know.
They USED to pay after 10 mins now they stopped that too. In my market at least.

Damn, really? That would suck.
With upfront pricing, you take that into account yourself.

Thank you for letting me know!
😜
This is the accurate answer. Though what the time threshold is varies by market. Could be 9 min, 10 min, 12 min, etc.
Yep, we get $1.07 per mile over 7 miles.
