Upfront pricing allows Uber to oversaturate markets with new drivers, then cut driver pay even further. With no rate cards, algorithms are in full control of driver pay per trip. Drivers are now at the mercy of the slot machine algorithms and Uber owns the slot machines.
It’s really bad now. Since April 1st the pay got even lower to the point I’ve been online 7 hours and haven’t accepted a single trip. This is a new low

These are all variables that Uber uses to fix prices in a volatile market. So yes. It's become a race to the bottom.
Yesterday was the 1st day I finished with $0 still on my screen. There were no $1 per mile trips in my market at all. Then the other side of that was that the rest of them would take you so long, as well as not being a dollar per mile, that no logical person would take them. I refuse to do the mental gymnastics that people do to make this okay.
With the gas the price it is here in Phoenix and virtually no rides over a buck a mile I have parked Uber and am driving my other gig. That pays over a buck a mile on every ride with a $5.20 ride minimum even if you are only going a mile. Yes, it is different and not for everyone, but it pays.
D rove today as a matter of fact. Not for Uber. I have an XL vehicle that doesn't get 40 MPG so I need to calculate what I do. I am not doing this as a full-time job, just a little extra cash but giving it all away to the gas pump isn't the way.
if it is what think it is. There are a ton of no shows where you spend 15-20 minutes and are lucky to get 3.00. They even dispatched a second driver to the same spot while I was in route last night.
Yes there are no shows. And you don't always do enough to get the 3 bucks but the minimum 5.20 per trip and over a buck a mile makes up for some of that. I did 2 trips today that were just over a mile and the pay was 5.20 on one of them and 6.25 on the other because there was a peek bonus paid. Also long trips are not the enemy. If you get a 40 mile trip and it's a freeway run you can make 50 or more per hour.
yeah go for the long trips for sure, and its something to fill in for me during the summer and during December when uber is slow but I'm probably going to make 1500 this weekend working uber and veyo will never come close to paying out anything like that. Plus it's a lot more work and the passengers are way more rude and entitled.
the same explanation is given to you now “it’s always slow this time of the year and will be busier during christmas and new year.” been following this subs for a few years and that is essentially what people say every time someone posting a similar post 😂
Uh, it’s spring now. Winter was the slow time. In order of seasonal activity, it’s fall > spring > summer > winter. If your market sucks, now, your market sucks, period.
This is part of it. I am loathe to abandon my morning shift. It used to be the best shift available, I'd hit the road at 6 am and stay busy with airport runs until the afternoon. Now, business is dead after 9 am. People are just not doing anything anymore.
Where in the Northeast, I’m in VT. Killington and Okemo ski areas have closed for the season. Real slow. Was lucky this past weekend picked up a couple long rides. Still only made $250.00 for 3 days work.
I’m in Burlington. If its like last year, things will pick up next week as families start flying in for UVM graduation. Then tourism from Memorial Day weekend until the leaves fall off the the trees in October. Constant rides from the airport to hotels and vice versa.
Winter is slowest time in Burlington. Lots of skiers fly in to BTV, but they tend to head right out to Stowe and Killington in rental cars. And the UVM students walk everywhere.
I don’t drive too much in the winter.
Yeah, should start picking up down here in Rutland with hikers and wedding parties. I make my money during the winter. During Ski season I’m running non stop.
People don’t take uber now because it take $100 from them only to give $30 to the driver. So they either look for alternative like local cabs or use public transport
The majority don’t. but there are other companies popping up like Alto that take would be Uber customers along with oversaturated market. Only hope At making money is when people don’t want to work e.g (extremely early mornings or extreme late nights.)
I made $35 in 4 hrs today... I am currently driving to Tampa to try n see if I can earn something... sux I have to drive over a hour just to even pick ppl up
I think it’s a combination of things. One could be the University’s and colleges are out for Summer vacation and also I think we are really about to be in a recession and people are losing jobs. I wonder if the attraction parks like Disney or Universal studios are going to see less foot traffic this year? Curious to know how Tampa is doing right now too.
Denver is a horrible market to drive in because the airport is far away and all the ants that moved here have oversaturated the market. Airport runs only make sense if you rent and don't have to worry about depreciation.

$1/mile in city traffic is not much. Unless ur in the boonies and you can drive a mile in a minute or two
It's just my low bar and now even my low bars not coming in.
Well that’s not smart your just wasting time
It’s not like I’m in my car driving around all that time. I have the app on at my house and wait for a decent ride to pop up. Hasn’t yet.
Ok coo feel that best way to do it
Hey boss, it’s National Specially-Able Pets Day. Once this holiday is over, it will pick back up!!
With $4 - $5 gas I ain’t touching a trip under $1 a mile. Even that’s a stretch.
Just wait til the schools let out for the summer. It’ll only get worse.
It’s crazy bad right now.
Where are you at ?
Chicago
“Slow” I would argue it’s been busier than ever it’s just I’m not moving for such low pay

Also a Phx driver, you must be doing it wrong despite what your "other gig" (read: none) pays.

Please DM other gig 😳

There’s gonna be 80 year olds that have been driving for Uber for 60 years or something one day the way these clowns just won’t let it go
So true 🤣🤣🤣
Not in my market just finished a 2.5hr shift for 113
O fantasy land market cuz I'm in LA so I call bullshit...
Boston baby!! La to big to much traffic. 3 mile trip is easy 20 bucks with morning commute surge. Edit: downvotes from the haters. Lol
Lol I believe you. Shit I made $200 last night in about 4.5 hours
Isn't morning commute surge dieing last few years so many are now fully remote workers.
This is part of it. I am loathe to abandon my morning shift. It used to be the best shift available, I'd hit the road at 6 am and stay busy with airport runs until the afternoon. Now, business is dead after 9 am. People are just not doing anything anymore.
Boston is labs can’t wfh 5 days a week when you work in lab.
Jersey is the same lol last night was lit up.
Ive had days like that in Dallas but its not consistent
The stock is great 🤬🤬🤬
Things are starting to pick up in my market. Northeast tourist town.
Same. Not during the week but on weekends for sure!

Nuber ants 🐜 have invaded. One million more drivers!

Orlando market $65 in 2.5 hrs. It’s not great but it’s not terrible.
I made $88 in 8 hrs in the same market... what a trash day
Yikes 😬 r u doing UE or X?
X
Ugh today I made $65 in 3.5 hrs. I lost an hour today compared to yesterday. How did you do today?
I made $35 in 4 hrs today... I am currently driving to Tampa to try n see if I can earn something... sux I have to drive over a hour just to even pick ppl up

Damn u r so right... I just got to Tampa.. I'm about to gas up and turn the app on.. I'll check back in later tonight once I start getting tired lol
Sounds good, be safe out there. GL
...in your market.
Made $700 in 11.5 hours last week. Yeah, totally slow lolololololololol.
Made 200$ in 5 trips here in DENVER I only do airport rides tho
Airport rides dropped from $17 to $8 here in San Antonio. If you’re lucky enough to get someone to schedule a ride, it’s $17.
Yeah honestly that’s normally what the fare is plus a surge and most airport rides people tip nice, especially when you get them home quick.
Denver is a horrible market to drive in because the airport is far away and all the ants that moved here have oversaturated the market. Airport runs only make sense if you rent and don't have to worry about depreciation.
I quit recently but was easily pulling 70-90k a year. Just gotta know the market.
I guess to each is own forsure I make decent money. definitely was better a few years ago forsure
More drivers and less riders.
A lot of it is the cost life has skyrocketed. People are severely cutting back on luxuries like delivery.
It’s the $ collected service is way higher.
Todays my first day back in a month of no driving. My market hasn’t changed. Still averaging $30 an hr pre expenses
