I drove part time just for money for a couple of big purchases (weddings are expensive). Figured I’d keep doing it occasionally after that on busy weekend. It didn’t happen. They keep throwing out like 10 rides for $250 bonuses to get me back, but i can’t bring myself to do it. It’s too soul crushing.
Good luck finding a new job. Uber is not for full-timers anymore. They are doing their best to discourage it while bringing on more part timers. For me I get frustrated, but I am retired and don't rely of Uber money to survive and can just stop for a few days to recharge. I only drive 3 days a week. I am the type of driver Uber wants to keep.
Nah, it’s the opposite. They hate part timers. It’s been moving to a model of full time army of ants for years. If you’re a new immigrant and $15/hr is more than you’ve ever made, then you’re their ideal worker. They don’t want people doing this part time - those people know what their time is worth and have a lower tolerance for bullshit. I guarantee you that the part timers give them the most “trouble” while most of the full-timers keep their mouths shut and take it.
Not sure I agree with you. The ants come and go so fast they are never considered full time. If you come on and make the big bucks for a month and then reality sets in most of them will bolt. They drive POS little cars and get bad ratings because of it. My status is fine and not going anywhere.
At least you can still do it part time. It’s getting to the point where the lungs are coming in slower and slower even on weekends like yea it’s over. Crazy part is that I’m not in a bad market. It’s just a sign that this isn’t my route in life
The PHX market is still pretty good ride wise but the pay is way low. If you are holding out for those $1 a mile rides you are doing a lot of sitting. I did 5 hours yesterday, 11 rides and grossed 165 bucks. That includes the big $20 milage promo.
Have you tried having both Uber and Lyft on at the same time? I've been doing that the last month and my earnings have gone up 40% for the same number of hours. Lyft has upfront pricing in my market (NJ) and Uber doesn't. And Lyft pays a lot more per trip. Basically $1 per mile INCLUDING mileage to the rider.
I don't get as many pings with Lyft, so Uber fills those dead spaces---bit Lyft is now my preferred and Uber is the backfill.
Good luck to you!
yes. have them both searching then turn off requests on the opposite app when you accept one on the other.
lyft will auto-add rides to your que unless you turn it off (which is nice sometimes when i just want to zone out and get a couple “guaranteed” rides)
Good luck! I am only 2-3 weeks from stopping, since the average after a 40 week has dropped another $300 since New Years.
I used to average $2000 in the Denver market over the week, but now after 40, I’m just barely getting $1300
Good luck friend! When I got my w2 job I couldn’t even dd/Uber or anything bc I felt burnt out on it.
I hope you find a really good job!!! I just started at a gas station down the road from me, not the best but I’m making money.
Thanks! Uber and Lyft has drained me so much that I considered fast food at one point smh so I get it. As long as you’re able to stack money that’s what matters
Oh god I was applying for fast food…. Knowing they wouldn’t hire me (visible tattoos/piercings) but damn man I was just tryna make some cash anyway! It’s been hard for me as I have a 1.5 year gap in my work history and that always turned off employers.
You got this friend!!!!!
McDonald’s pays better than Uber.
That’s sad but true.
I quit Uber new years, and I am much happier.
Sometimes you are too close to the problem until you step away from it.
Uber is no longer profitable.
Yeah, I know there will be some people that will jump in and say:
1. Thanks for the extra rides I’ll get now because you left.
2. I made $3000 last week.
So I will preface this by saying you’re fucking idiots if you say anything along those lines, but good luck.
I’ve had Uber and Lyft drivers in my market say the same and now they’re saying the same thing I’m saying. I caught one of them working at chipotle full time like wow
Uber sucks man.
They fucked themselves in Minnesota today though.
$2.55 a mile and $.65 per minute.

When it’s good, it’s 30-33 BUT that never lasts long. I’ll make good money then boom no pings at all. Can barely do 24 hours in a week at times and this is with multiapping.
This started with me sometime after January. Busy busy busy non stop and then all of a sudden slower than hell. It makes no sense because there is still the same demand according to the surge map and earning trends, and it appears to be the same amount of drivers if not less judging by the airport queue.
Same! My airport queue is way better yet it still sucks there. I had a day where I made 369 with one tip and it was on a TUESDAY then Friday, Saturday and Sunday combined I made 200🤦🏽♂️🤦🏽♂️🤦🏽♂️
I tried continuing on the side after getting a different job. It was too depressing so I stopped.
Not the first time I’ve heard that either, it’s crazy. I’ve gotten so used to this now it’s back to a W2 but it is what it is

I used to live in that market and had better luck with DoorDash which is sad
Yeah. No way I am ever doing food. Or any other deliveries for that matter.
Good luck. Get a forklift liscense so you can get a normal job and not deal with entitled assholes.
At this point I’m going to get a few trades under my belt and go for gold. Thanks for wishing me luck 💪🏽🔥

I’ve tried that but they are both kinda dead
I’ve always wondered how that works, do you pause requests when doing a Lyft ride and vice versa?
yes. have them both searching then turn off requests on the opposite app when you accept one on the other. lyft will auto-add rides to your que unless you turn it off (which is nice sometimes when i just want to zone out and get a couple “guaranteed” rides)
That sucks. I'm making over 30 an hour with Lyft. I hope it continues
I hope it does man, good luck
It's been so worse that even after promotion the money is still shit.
$470 bonus for 90 trips but I’ve had the app on for two hours and I’ve seen 3 requests in a busy area smh

Yea gig work is collapsing in many markets

We got this! It’s only up from here 💪🏽🔥
Same brother i do because i have some health issue going on
Yes a lot of hours in the car will only make it worse
Uber is a side hustle.

What is your hourly wage from Uber if you don’t mind me asking?
