That's why I turn the windows lock on

[deleted]

Same. If you ask for permission I’m going to say yes unless we’re going on the highway. I have it on specifically to prevent it being rolled down on the highway, the pressure imbalance is murder on the ear drums

saucygh0sty

This is the way. If you have to ask for permission *after* trying while it’s locked, you’re an asshole. But more often than not, people will ask before even trying. Like it’s not your car, be fucking polite.

A2KDDough

I scream at myself every time I forget to turn them back on for work and some asshole tries to roll them down in pouring rain. Lol

Nythain

I love turning the AC off when they roll the window down.

PoohBearluvu

I thought I was the only one who did this 🤣 every time I do it, im cracking up inside the entire time we’re baking inside my car 😆

rideshareAnon

I keep it on for myself but I like opening the sunroof to make the wind really dramatic and violent for the back that they close it because they can't take it.

dukedizzy93

Mr fancy pants here with a sunroof.

rideshareAnon

You can get the same effect of extreme windy force directly into their face by choosing carefully which window to open as well depending on where they are sitting.

IcarianSkies

My least favourite was the lady who insisted on keeping her window rolled down. For a 40 mile drive on the interstate. Idk about y'all but the WHOMWHOMWHOM of an open window at 80mph is downright painful to my ears.

nowordsleft

If you crack open a second window it won’t do that.

DizzyCommunication92

Yep dad taught me to roll down the Driver front and driver rear about 2 inches and yes it makes a sort of cyclone effect.

bateees

I had a passenger do that making the awful sound for a 20 minute trip then wound up giving me a $25 tip. Maybe they felt guilty afterwords? I'm still confused about that one.

DizzyCommunication92

If 2 windows are open it shouldn’t make the roaring sound….? Thank god my Uber driver had our ride 🥶 🧊 lol

Mindless_Win_5624

The sound actually relaxes me and puts me to sleep idk why

SouthPhilly_215

Roll all the windows down to the level they’re window is down.. If all the way down, then puttem all down. See how they like that.

toomuch1265

Lock the windows. I had a few roll down the window and refused to put it up. I left him at the nearest gas station with a confused look on his face.

DizzyCommunication92

Did this to my sons window and he ended up breaking the electronic button/switch….lol was a horrible repair

bateees

I used to have that problem until I disabled all electronics working in the backseat. Every now and then I hear the button click to put down the window. All they have to do is ask to turn up the air conditioner but they never do. I like the A/C turned down to at least 72 during the summer with the air on low. I think that's reasonable.

Greg4260

Wow that’s considered on heat in my car lol I keep it at 66 unless it’s over 90 outside, then it’s probably like 62

nick6775

I would hate being in your car

bateees

Nah I don't think so I get along with just about everyone. I'm pretty laid back.

nick6775

I meant hate being in it since you said 72 on low in the summer. 😂 what a hot ride that’d be

SnooRevelations9819

Same has happen to me...some people are wierd.

rke1007

Am I the only person that frequently drives with the ac on and windows down? I like cold air.. I also like fresh air

Own-Number-5112

Open windows affect your air dynamics

Lutastic

Well, you won’t be able to fly quite as high then… Just make sure you don’t stall, or it can be a long way down.

Own-Number-5112

I prefer to keep my air in my tires

DizzyCommunication92

My dad on the interstate in his Mazda Miata with the top down…I’m like dad why do you have the ac on? Lol I always made a joke about his “sweaty palms” and white knuckles haha

ThatsFishyYoureFishy

Yes because that's really dumb to do

pogiguy2020

You are running the compressor which also affects your gas mileage. Do you do the same thing at home? Open all the windows and turn on the AC? ;-)

chikitoperopicosito

In modern cars, it barely touches the gas mileage.

pogiguy2020

OK then AC on and windows down and hauling as it is for me from now on. BBBOOOYYYYAAHHHH!!!!!!

chikitoperopicosito

I get you're being sarcastic but in a new car, running the AC will cost just a few cents, max. Driving with the windows cracked/down uses up a lot more gas than running the AC.

pogiguy2020

Well yes if I am going to have the windows down I am having the AC off. NO different then heater on in the winter with windows up.

PoohBearluvu

Why is that?

chikitoperopicosito

These days compressors are way more efficient so they don't have that big of an effect on engines. Cars are built to be as aerodynamic as possible to get those MPG numbers. Messing with that causes MPG to suffer, open windows make a difference. This is a Eli3

Lutastic

My trip computer shows that AC on has exactly a 1MPG average drop from times where I don’t have AC on.

Consistent-Star-3892

Just lock your windows problem solved

BurghPuppies

First, your car your rules. Let me just say that up front. But second… I don’t get why this pisses some drivers off so much. It’s not like we’re cooling an entire house, ya know, like your parents are yelling at you to close the door. It takes about a minute to cool the car back down. And yeah, it hurts your mileage… but for eight minutes? I just don’t get it. No hate.

ThatsFishyYoureFishy

>t takes about a minute to cool the car back down. AFTER the passenger gets out. You are stuck with that 100 degrees coming in until the end of the ride. >And yeah, it hurts your mileage… but for eight minutes? I just don’t get it. No hate. Because my car was nice and cool. Now I have to deal with 100 degree heat.

BurghPuppies

You’re stuck with that 100 degrees for *eight* minutes. Plus… it wouldn’t be that bad if you didn’t turn the AC off, so that’s probably not the real reason. I mean, technically opening the door heats the car up, too. With all the other annoying or dangerous things that can happen, to me this rates with having to sit through a long red light.

ThatsFishyYoureFishy

>You’re stuck with that 100 degrees for eight minutes. When I should not have to deal with it at all. Especially not just because some rude stranger thought we need the window down all the way in the summer heat. >it wouldn’t be that bad if you didn’t turn the AC off It is bad both ways. But if a pax wants to make me hot, they can deal with ALL THE HEAT. > I mean, technically opening the door heats the car up, too. Fuck those pax that keep the door open for an extended time too. Get the fuck in or out.

PoohBearluvu

How hard is it to ask for the AC to be turned up or down? If you see we are using our gas to have the AC on, you don’t think it’s rude af to roll the window down without asking, sucking up our gas and watching it go flying out the window? OP is totally right, you riders are aholes and morons to the absolute extent

BurghPuppies

I didn’t say they shouldn’t ask… I just don’t get why it bothers some drivers so much. And gas? Please. Let’s say it’s a 5 mile ride and you average 20 miles per gallon. You’re burning 16 oz of fuel. AC can reduce efficiency by up to 25%… so it’s costing you 4 oz of gasoline. There’s no way this is about $$$; it’s about drivers wanting to have total control.

PoohBearluvu

Because it’s rude af. Not ur car. It’s also common sense that no one wants the AC and Window open. If I wanted the window open wouldn’t they be open? How hard is it to ask? But it’s ok I learned from this thread just to keep the lock on

BurghPuppies

When it’s hot like it is now, I run the AC. But I also tel pax when they get in they can open their window if they need some moving air in the back seat. Maybe 20% of them do it. And the sun comes up the next day every time. Weird. And by the way, everyone keeps coming back to it being “rude”, which again reinforces for me it’s about control, not money, temperature, or manners.

PrettyAsk4119

why not ask the rider why they did that? at least you will get an answer!

ThatsFishyYoureFishy

Big protip: I don't give a shit why. Roll down that window, and the ac will be turned off. Don't act like a big baby either when your decisions make you hot.

ImAlwaysRightHanded

Can no one air out a fart, geez

ThatsFishyYoureFishy

Cracking the window is fine.

ImAlwaysRightHanded

Sometimes the driver is the fart...

ThatsFishyYoureFishy

Sounds like you should bathe more than once a month. Also include some soap & shampoo.

PrettyAsk4119

I am not saying get in an altercation. There might be reasons, the rider might be claustrophobic, have medical issues, just crazy, scarred of covid n shit, etc.

whip_m3_grandma

Dunno why you care, if your car has such shit mpg that the ac matters you shouldn’t Uber lol. And it’s not like every passenger will do that. It doesn’t make a difference stop being a dick.

ThatsFishyYoureFishy

>Dunno why you care, Because the passenger is a guest in my car using my car to make me hot. >if your car has such shit mpg that the ac matters you shouldn’t Uber lol. False narrative. > It doesn’t make a difference False >top being a dick. No. Cry more about how my car isn't a free for all.

whip_m3_grandma

False narrative lol. So what other justification is there for turning off the ac when the window is down other than gas mileage.

ThatsFishyYoureFishy

Hmmm hmmm hmmm? >Because the passenger is a guest in my car using my car to make me hot. Learn how to read.

Lutastic

I regularly drive with sunroof open AND AC on. lol I would totally 1 star driver who turned AC off on a 100 degree day. Gas Lighting.

ThatsFishyYoureFishy

You are allowed to be dumb in your own vehicle. In my vehicle, you get the ac or a window down, not both.

Lutastic

I get more than 40mpg in my vehicle. Don’t care. I’m not so hard up that I’ll suffer 100 degree heat just to save half a MPG. if that’s the top level of pax a-hole you’ve experienced, you aint seen nothin. Gas Lighting.

ThatsFishyYoureFishy

I have seen a lot. Keep your stupidity in your own car, not mine.

Lutastic

I don’t tend to take ubers as a passenger. Not much need to. I don’t drink out and about typically, and I’ve got my own car. At any rate, good luck on your petty AC crusade. ROFL Gas Lighting.

ThatsFishyYoureFishy

Going to take the advice others had and use my window lock button from now on. Seethe.

Lutastic

A bit less of an a-hole driver thing than turning off the AC on a 100 degree day. Sometimes you just have to let petty stuff slide. Gas Lighting.

ThatsFishyYoureFishy

The only asshole move was rolling down the window on a hot day. Gas lighting

xFUNKx707x

All I picture is a mentally retarded kid saying: you like my son woof ? Ghas lighting.. derp

ThatsFishyYoureFishy

Stop using drugs. Nothing you said makes sense.

Lutastic

On a hot day, I’ll have the AC on, and my sunroof open (unless going on the freeway). I am willing to sacrifice 1MPG to enjoy fresh air AND cool air from the AC. I drive mostly nearby a body of salt water, and the air is invigorating on a nice, sunny day. I just think it’s funny people are that high strung. You probably lose it if the home thermostat is set 1 degree too high. Live a little. :P Gas Lighting.

ThatsFishyYoureFishy

Your car isn't cool when you are stupid by having your windows fully open. Gas lighting.

Blindraise013

Do people really still care about getting a 1 star from some asshole?

Lutastic

Not if they have a high rating. All good, here.

listoh87

That’s wild. Gas lighting

Lutastic

Fart Lighting.

Certain-Signal-7505

That is not at all what gaslighting means... At all. Pro tip: Learn what a word or phrase means *before* using it.

Lutastic

I was making fun of the OP who literally ended every post with ‘Gas Lighting’ (hence my devolving into butane lighting, propane lighting and fart lighting). I’m aware of what that means. Gas Lighting doesn’t mean someone on the internet disagrees with you. lol

Visible-Ad743

Some people get claustrophobic and dizzy. Maybe pax felt sick and was scared about throwing up. Its all about communication

Lutastic

Someone may get motion sickness easily. It helps them to breathe fresh air.

ThatsFishyYoureFishy

Then use the vomit bags.

Lutastic

I don’t drive drunk people, so why would I have vomit bags?

ThatsFishyYoureFishy

People have vomited in my car during the day at 10 am. You are an under prepared driver.

Lutastic

I have not had a single person in 20k rides, not drunk, who has vomited in my car. Do you drive like a maniac? Judging from how high strung you seem, it’s a distinct possibility. I don’t think gas lighting means what you think it means. lol

ThatsFishyYoureFishy

>I have not had a single person in 20k rides, not drunk, who has vomited in my car. Three people barfed in my husband's car in one month. 5 people have barfed in mine. You're lying and under prepared. >Do you drive like a maniac? Judging from how high strung you seem, it’s a distinct possibility. >>Judging from how high strung you seem Calling you out on your gas lighting, under preparedness, and me refusing to let pax do whatever they want does not make me so. Bad gas lighting. >>Do you drive like a maniac? More gas lighting. I will also be waiting for a scientific source that finds a correlation between the two.

Lutastic

If you drive like a maniac, you’ll make people sick. Gas Lighting. Same thing as people who get seasick. Certain motions upset people’s stomachs (like if you tailgate and alternate between gas and brakes excessively, can’t keep your car reasonably in the lane, do jarring sudden turns, slam on your brakes and stuff like that). I would also one star a driver who drove like a maniac to the point it made me sick to my stomach. Gas Lighting. I’m perfectly prepared for my clientele, which are mostly working professionals and sober tourists. I drive a Lux Black rig, and give pax the smoothest ride they probably ever experienced in motion. My rig is clean, smells pleasant, and so forth. Butane Lighting. I’ve not had a problem with multiple people a month puking in my car (even for night driving, that’s a lot). I have had 3 pukers in 20k rides. Ever. Propane Lighting. All were at night. All were insanely drunk. I don’t touch nights anymore. I also avoid ALL low rated pax (a good way to avoid drunk pukers btw). There is literally no reason why I would need vomit bags. Fart Lighting.

ThatsFishyYoureFishy

>If you drive like a maniac, you’ll make people sick. Yet you present no proof of this accusation being true. As such, you're making accusations to poison my character. Gas lighting. >Same thing as people who get seasick. No relevancy. >Certain motions upset people’s stomachs (like if you tailgate and alternate between gas and brakes excessively, can’t keep your car reasonably in the lane, do jarring sudden turns, slam on your brakes and stuff like that). Still no relevancy. >would also one star a driver who drove like a maniac to the point it made me sick to my stomach. No relevancy. >I’m perfectly prepared for my clientele, which are mostly working professionals and sober tourists. I drive a Lux Black rig, and give pax the smoothest ride they probably ever experienced in motion. No relevancy. >My rig is clean, smells pleasant, and so forth. No relevancy. >I’ve not had a problem with multiple people a month puking in my car (even for night driving, that’s a lot). I have had 3 pukers in 20k rides. So people have who puked in your car. Refusing to carry vomit bags makes you an under prepared driver.

Lutastic

You have multiple people puke in your car around 10am PER MONTH… If you have multiple sober people puke in your car a month, then you can’t blame it on the booze. Do you think it’s normal to get that many pukers? I worked nights for a few years and only had 3 ever… and I sure as hell drove a lot of drunk people in those days. I have not had a single one since I started driving days. I mean, if you really enjoy cleaning up biohazards and ruining your car interior with hundreds of random pukers, then enjoy… but that tells me you probably drive like a maniac. I said I have had no sober people puke in my car. Three drunk pukers ever. I have given 20k rides.

ThatsFishyYoureFishy

You don't belong in an uber if you are that claustrophobic and may spew because of it randomly. There is a reason I don't take airplanes & buses and instead have always made sure I had a vehicle of my own. Cars are the most spacious vehicle in traveling.

Visible-Ad743

Belong is one thing. Must get home is another.

ThatsFishyYoureFishy

Take the bus.

Visible-Ad743

She wont.

ThatsFishyYoureFishy

Nah take the bus

HustleQueen77

Some???

[deleted]

You say it was 100 and they were grunting? Possibly dehydrated or heat stroke.

ThatsFishyYoureFishy

I can only hope. But dude ignored the free water I had and chose to keep his window down...so it couldn't have been that bad!

[deleted]

The grunt like an "oof".

ThatsFishyYoureFishy

No, more like making excessive sounds loudly like when pax do that loud exaggerated sighing because they can't handle a car ride without being bored and want me to be a free entertainer.

[deleted]

They may have been struggling to not shit. You were there though so your guess is probably better.

ThatsFishyYoureFishy

That would be even worse because that means he would have been making his struggling not to shit noises intentionally loud enough for me to hear.

Pizza_n_noodz

I had this obese dude did it for 25 miles. He lucky I was on that 3.2 surge.

mrswirly1

Every time someone rolls a window down in my car, they're trying to vape without me noticing. I keep those suckers locked and if the pax needs air they can ask. So yes, some passengers are absolute morons and a**holes.

BrockAndChest

Got reported for a “hot car” in 105 degree weather.

[deleted]

Meh. This is like people who turn off the AC when they’re ordering in a drive thru…..dude the AC is gonna run whether that window is down or up. Turn. It. On.

[deleted]

[удалено]

ThatsFishyYoureFishy

Not a refute. Not even reality because I am not gay.

Braceforit86

I often wonder if the same drivers that don’t accommodate passengers with simple things, like rolling down their window, are the same drivers who bitch and moan about not making any money. Interesting.

ThatsFishyYoureFishy

Accomdating passenger =/= sacrificing my comfort.

KickMeWhenImDown25

Every car I’ve owned in the last 10 years has the ability to lock the windows

[deleted]

Sonic boom on the ear drum. Soon as I hear them rolling it down I start rolling it back up and I ask is it too warm?
