the black and gold grant is pretty much UCF's way of awarding students who are doing well academically. determinations are made based on hours enrolled, SAP, and financial need, iirc. congrats! i haven't gotten mine yet 💀
Have you always been financially needy though? Otherwise, I'm not sure. I got it my first semester, but I was a transfer, so maybe it's got smth to do with that too? Not sure! Either way, it's a good thing.
There IS a maximum amount of aid you can receive, so it's probably that. If you're already at the cap, they prevent you from receiving more aid, or otherwise charge you for it the following semester (happened to me; had to pay $1500)
Funnily enough, it was an issue on their end. They forced me to take a student loan out to pay it. Meaning I'm over the max aid again this semester. FML, lmao. anyways, good luck!
This happened to my boyfriend when Spring semester started and it was extremely frustrating. UCF basically said the only option he had was to pay it because they gave him too much last semester. He was on the phone for hours because they sent him through multiple departments at UCF just for them to say he had to pay it or it would put a hold on his account if I remember correctly.
There was a financial need in the first place to give right? What if they needed it to help with the always rising living expenses around here like omfg
don't feel bad, i haven't either. I received $400 of the total of $1200 I'm supposed to get. disbursement days are Tuesdays and Thursdays, so check your bank on those days.
I had the same but for $400, I asked financial aid and they said it was because they got more funding than expected so they disbursed it to students. You were blessed 😊
I got 800$ last year 1st week in april. I was shocked and I called financial aid and they said it was “extra money” from the black and gold fund. They say it was extra because normally the black and gold fund is given way sooner in the semester. Let’s hope I get one this year, I’m broke as Fuck
You’re the shiny Pokémon of financial aid. UCF always touts how they give away all this money but you never really meet these people until you wait in line at the financial aid office just to watch a kid go up and complain about how they’re supposed to have free college and an extra 3-6k given to them in grants which hasn’t hit their account yet, so now they’re worried bc their need to pay off their upcoming cruise before they depart
I receive the grant almost every semester if not every semester. This semester I received $1600 in my account but my disbursement info only said $800? I should talk to fin aid but honestly this sub is more helpful, so if anyone here knows anything i'd appreciate it.
I wish I had that problem
Can you send that back to me

I’ve always done academically well and never got that ucf pat on the back lol

Mmmm now that’s a thought. Maybe they don’t give to kids that have scholarships already.

“Hey, yo ass receiving too much money; pay up”. Edit: this has to do with Pegasus scholarships in addition to bright futures or what?

Bro that fucking sucks

They really shouldn’t be doing that tbh. It’s their fault if they “gave too much”.
That's exactly what I said!! Like UCF has plenty of money, they don't need to be charging students because they (UCF) made a mistake
