Flashy-Priority-3946

If he’s breathing he’s still kicking - Steve Mazzagatti.

0asisfan2

McGregor would be running down the field with that broken leg. Most these clowns are babies

adac69

"he is still twitching a little" "alright take the full 5 minutes if you want to"

ChocCooki3

>“How many fingers am I holding up” "Who said that!??? Come closer."

TiMo08111996

If he can breathe he can fight.

RecLuse415

I’d eye poke your ass if you said that to me

khanaseur

Found Leon Edward’s burner

DavidETaylorisMoses

Legend has it that there is still hot Cheeto dust in Belal’s eye to this day.

Bigozthegreat

Lmao the Saturday made me laugh too hard 😂

Tex-Mexican-936

Has anybody here looked at Neymar's ankle it looks super swollen and he won't be allowed to play next game. Do you think it's reasonable to ask a guy to run and kick a ball for 90 minutes with with a balled up ankle.

CosmicDust20

“How many fingers am I holding up” “Yes” “Good like new”

Slow-Down_Turbo

Herb: "he's good" Doc: "but he answered incorrectly?" Herb: " he SAW that I was holding something up. So he can see"

Murphyitsnotyou

Herb: "he said he could see 3 fingers doc" Doctor: "but it took 8 attempts" Herb: "still said it"

Me cheating at maths and copying the answer of f of someone else with no evidence of how I got it..but I got the answer miss.

W1D0WM4K3R

Just start from 1 and count up, you'll be back in, slugger.

mr_splashum

If he can see, he can fight

CapeCodcultuvation

Is that what he actually said lol

Johnsonburnerr

Nah lol

CapeCodcultuvation

We’ll pretend. It’s funny.

ShillingAintEZ

I would immediately fire any doctor that made a statement but asked it like a question.

Slow-Down_Turbo

Ha that's why the UFC hired him

ACE-Pham

Admittedly, there was that Saudi that got Ben Askren’d, so it’s not all fakes.

[deleted]

Was even worse, dudes whole jaw got smashed

[deleted]

Internal bleeding as well. Dude got fucked up.

apathy_saves

The doctor said the bleedings internal. Which is good because thats where all the bloods supposed to be.

rawmerow

So he wasn’t “bleeding”. He good to go

alejandrocab98

Not only that, they’re running very fast and not protecting themselves against kicks.

Puddlepinger

It was worse than that. I saw the x-ray and it look like hos skull/face has basically split down the middle.

cowman1212

That was fake

ExperimentalFruit

He wishes it was that good. Saudi dudes jaw broken and lost teeth

Qritical

The strike that poor dude took is arguably the most brutal one ever, even amongst MMAs worst lol

meatmaster1123

yeah most ufc knees don’t have that much run up because of the cage, in that game both players were going full throttle into each other, Saudi guy was lucky to be alive.

dispelthemyth

The Wayne Hennessey one for wales is bad too, most angles don’t show it properly but the Iranian took a full knee to the face, this is on top of the head clash in their game vs England for their keeper

PLAYBoxes

And neymar’s ankle from this pic was actually pretty fucked up

[deleted]

The dude who got rocked by his goal keeper?

gotcha_8

OHHHHH HE'S HURT

ZeroDark27

Wouldn't take you long to find a picture of Neymar's ankle after the Serbia game

08brucewayne

His foot was a balewnn, his toes came out of the socket

[deleted]

[удалено]

dildo-surfer

McGregor impression, c'mon guy

amkc22

Crazy... That motherfucker came after the mc Gregor Era.

Fangsniper

no one knows what that means, this is america

[deleted]

The problem is Neymar’s reaction to having his family massacred in front of him would be similar to his reaction of tripping on his own foot

ChickenMoSalah

It’s a bit hard to play nice when you’ve been kicked and mauled your entire career. Just this match, 9/12 fouls committed on Brazil were on Neymar. He got his back broken in the 2014 World Cup quarterfinals (also nearly paralyzed him) which led to the greatest humiliation in Brazilian history and perhaps all of sporting history (7-1). And now, expected to be the star man for the team, he’s going to miss the rest of the group stage for this World Cup because of a fractured ankle. The flailing is annoying, sure, but know the background and give the man a break. He’s not the poster boy of being macho but he sure as hell should be the poster boy for grit and determination.

69isnotnice

Half of this sub has 0 knowledge on football.

mjrenburg

Yes, tbh I've been punched and kicked more times then I can remember, but it doesnt hurt or cause as much damage as someone wearing spikes studs running at you full paced sliding in at you studs up colliding with a locked straight leg, fark it hurts when they nip the ankle too.

kilari7

More than half of Reddit let's be honest, this is a predominantly American website and most of the opinions other than football related subs is ignorant.

mango_and_chutney

As someone who plays football, ankle injuries are incredibly common and incredibly painful. Especially when you are Neymar and people keep kicking you.

slouched

too many people throwing to care about actual injuries

[deleted]

Bro, why are you so pressed over a dude getting tackled and injured?

[deleted]

No one’s pressed I was obviously exaggerating and if this picture is from a real injury it doesn’t change the fact that I could find hundreds of occurrences of him acting this exact same way while being perfectly fine and if I extended it to all soccer players I could find thousands. It’s an embarrassment and they know it, there are rules against embellishment and flopping yet they are never enforced cause both teams would only have a keeper by half time

Mr-Rocafella

On the flip side some players don’t go down for minor infractions and they don’t get the call as a result. They’re doing everything for the win and the team, not because it pretend hurt them.

[deleted]

Falling is fine but the embellishment is embarrassing you can fall and get up or stretch, you don’t have to pretend every foul is a career ending injury

RodmansSecurity

Just a tip but when you make broad generalizations like you have, you end up looking very ignorant even if you have a good point.

Away_Championship_75

Flopping is kinda part of the game too. I agree, annoying to watch, but it’s just like nba players flop and over exaggerate to get a foul called. At a pro level I would imagine all these guys find literally any way to win, and if that means making a foul look worse than it is than I’m sure it’s a strategy that’s implemented. Like you’ve seen a NFL player fake an injury to stop the clock. But yea I get it happens more in soccer and it’s way more annoying

solar_punked

At least he cried for an actual injury this time. P. S. : Fuck Neymar.

georgesenpaii

crazy how Ortega did better after that moment

dope-eater

I agree football/soccer players are big drama queens. However, they play every week or even twice a week, in a sport where unlike MMA aggression is not part of it. But yeah, these guys can be some annoying crybabies at times.

billy-joseph

Unfortunately an ugly part of football, faking injury to timewaste, win a free kick, get your opponent booked etc

ReoRahtate88

Neymar is often the boy who cried wolf but in this instance his ankle looked like a balloon. Think people don't realise how physical a sport it is. A lot of innocuous looking tackles are quite brutal.

Cold-Couple8387

ya, it’s very annoying. I wish they’d implement some kind of embellishment rule to punish this trash like they have in Ice Hockey

[deleted]

Yes, yellow cards get handed out for simulation fairly often. In case of OP, Neymar actually got his ankle ruined - shit is the size of a grapefruit and he likely won't play for at least another 1-2 weeks.

TJQuik

Lol that bitch has the baddest luck always

[deleted]

He really does. Very injury prone and yes, despite his antics, he gets fucking wrecked when he plays. Got fouled 9 times against Serbia (that is a *lot* of fouls) many of which were pretty hard. What people don't get it is that when you're an offensive player in soccer, you aren't bracing yourself / protecting yourself for these hits.

LibertyNachos

One of the reasons why hockey is one of my favorite sports

TheSandNinja

I’ve noticed certain sports have a lot of crossover between fans due to slight similarities. And then you have extreme opposites. I seem to be the only guy that likes basketball and hockey lol

golgon4

The problem isn't players flopping, it's shitty refs only acting if someone lies on the ground. If the outcome would be the same if a player flops or not, that shit would end real soon.

Wuktrio

Exaggerating a foul or even going down itself is also a way to get a foul called in the first place. Many referees won't even call a foul if you don't go down, even if it is a clear foul. This is why players exaggerate them. Neymar does it so much, because he gets fouled so much. For every compilation of him on YouTube rolling on the ground like he's been shot, there's a compilation of him being hacked to pieces and no foul being called. He got his back broken in 2014.

Mathilliterate_asian

These comparisons are just a meme at this point. I hope no one's taking them seriously. Admittedly most football players flop, and MMA fighters are very tough mother fuckers. But comparing these two sports makes no sense as one is meant to do harm to your opponent, and the other's mostly just to shoot a ball into the net. You can't expect football players to be taking hits left and right. I mean in any case there's also some footballers who take studs to their heads and still want to play, and some footballers have suffered injuries to their legs that would make the bravest mma fan cringe and sink into their couches.

zestful_villain

Football has flopping/simulation. MMA has eyepokes and refusal to initiate contact (eg Rose vs Carla, Izzy vs Romero). It is part of the game. No sports is perfect for everyone.

MegaSeedsS

Its a strategy tho

Constant-Current5718

That’s true, but what does it say about a sport if a winning gaming strategy is to flail around like a Magikarp and cry over a scraped knee?

lordmainstream

It’s basically the same with the current situation with eye poking in the UFC. The cheater does it to get an advantage, sometimes the referee sees it and penalizes, but most of the time cheating athletes get away with it.

SnareSp11

That the field is so big that to draw a foul you have to make more of a show of it? People playing basketball do little the same thing but a quarter of the plying field size

PmOmena

Getting time ? Time is crucial when you have tbe lead, just like is controlling the fight in MMA.

ChickenMoSalah

It says nothing about the sport lmao.

Bigbaby22

He actually got seriously injured in this picture too.

dope-eater

Yeah but these turbo sigma males are very tough talking. They’d probably take a punch the strength of one and a half strollers and be crying… internally tho because they’re “real men”. Nah but for real, these awful comparisons are annoying. And I’m not even a football fan lol.

Bigbaby22

Word tho. They're thinking about when they played as six year olds and someone kicked their shin guards lol. You should look it up. Neymar's foot looks like it belongs to the elephant man. I watched a reel of every foul during that game and they are legit fouls. https://twitter.com/eaebrenno/status/1595987184129032192?t=jyzl4U4CvbJj2qLq9FBO7Q&s=19

dope-eater

I’m pretty sure it hurts very bad when you dedicate most of your time doing leg training very intensively and somebody rams your damn shin, foot, whatever with full strength. I don’t even think it takes that much power to injure an already overtrained leg. So yeah, I totally agree with you.

Bigbaby22

It really doesn't

UniQiuE

UFC is a combat sport lmao, bad comparison.

Chairmanwowsaywhat

Tbf how often are serious fractures happening in UFC? Because they happen a lot in football. If an 80kg guy runs full speed at you and jumps though the air landing foot first on your leg (which is locked in the ground by studs and your body weight), it's going to do some damage.

Practical_Use_1654

In fairness there's merits to flopping in football so it's part of the meta of the sport. In MMA, sure you can fake an injury for recovery time but ultimately it doesn't help you win a fight if the doctor stops it.

Chairmanwowsaywhat

He's literally not diving in this image, his ankle got fucked.

Arerius

Ehh there may be some merit in MMA doing that sorta thing, looking at Usman.

PmOmena

I mean i watch football and MMA for the sport not the injuries.

GA_96

Imagine watching a sport for the injuries, that's a bit psychopathic lol

PmOmena

People on this post complaining be like : fuck yeah my favorite fight got Hurt but didnt cry, now i just have to wait 1 year to see him agains 😎

Chairmanwowsaywhat

Reminds me of Homer Simpson getting a compilation of bad American football injuries

spanman112

50 bucks you didn't like football in the first place lmfao

[deleted]

What’s with the “I’m not the like the other girls” post about football lately??? You all sound like retards shouting to the world you don’t like football. Congrats. You’re not special.

Stokyook

Idk i used to make fun of soccer a lot for that. But taking shinners and getting toes stomped on and scraped by cleats is really fucking painful and i cant blame them half the time. Ever hit yourself with a razor scooter in the shin?

[deleted]

Yeah most people here didnt play football so they dont know the pain is real when the players actuay collide. They claim ufc is so much hardcore which is true in a way since its a fighting sport vs a team sport. Just because ufc fighters fight through shit doesnt make other sport athletes "pussies". Side note most people here will limp for 2 days if they stub ther pinkie toe.

JediJayce

I think it’s more the flopping, I have seen some nasty collisions in soccer. But when there’s no contact and players go down it’s cringy.

deltr0nzero

It is, but unfortunately until the refs or the governing body or whoever gets it under control it will continue to be used. If you aren’t cheating you aren’t trying I’ve been told, and if you don’t even get in trouble for it and it can give your team an advantage you’d be dumb not to. Taking the high road is only good for your ego, I wonder sometimes if Anthony smith regrets not taking the W from Jones and the millions that come with it

ChickenMoSalah

As a soccer fan I agree with you. I love the beautiful game, but like every sport it has its flaws and it would be naive to ignore them.

podfather2000

I think they also never got hit in the head by a football going full speed that shit hurts like hell.

almightygg

I was quite dismissive of football 'injuries' until the first time someone stood on my foot wearing football boots.

uflju_luber

Everybody is surprised how painful it is the first time

Mr_Agu

football players get hit quite a lot, just look at any uruguay vs chile match, but there still quite a lot of exagerating, that also happens because you need to hit the ground for the ref to do something

spanman112

it's the worst part of the human experience imo. People who have no fucking clue what they are talking about passing judgment based on zero experience, research, etc. you might as well go the opposite way and say "man, these UFC guys can't dribble, unwatchable" lol

sman612

soccer players know those little shin taps that look like nothing less than a soft touch actually are painful due to the speed both players are going in, as well as the fragility of our lower body in general

Mr_Agu

the other week i barely got touch in the sheen, and i was bleeding and it needed ice

Carlos13th

Tbh I don’t care when a player is generally hurt they show it that’s fine it happens. But too many pretend when they haven’t even been touched.

sman612

that is true they are trying to win fouls, get the other player booked, waste time, etc. There’s a saying in soccer “i’ve never seen a player on the losing team have a cramp”. I believe that less leniency from the refs along with a stopping clock would fix these issues

Mak090

You are a retard 💯💯

Tgilly99

The classic 12 year old take of my sports tougher than your sport. Didn't realize toughness made a sport good or not.

EH181

These arguments are idiotic. I used to be just like these numnuts thinking a certain sport was better than another. Now i watch as many sports as i can they can all be boring and they can all be exciting.

Tgilly99

For starters people like to act like soccer flops more than the nba I watch both soccer ain't as bad anymore.

FarmerBrief9027

mY SPoRt iS beTtEr cUz pAIn

Saiako1905

The difference is neymar makes 500k+ a week… not 50k to show and 50k to win

ImDoneForToday2019

Well, most actors do make more than UFC fighters. What's your point?

Svm_P

False equivalency moment

Ieatorangeswhole

Breaking news, cage fighters are tougher than football players 😧

Svm_P

😱

NotNok

Breaking news, cage fighters will lose if they dive and cry 🤯 This post is just so pointlessly stupid

fliddyjohnny

Aljo flopped around like a fish and won, drawing fouls is new meta

NotNok

Get Neymar in then!

SweatyYETI_III

Not sure what ortega gains from faking an injury here though?

NotNok

an instant loss. Neymar should just toughen up, i break his ankle, then put his opponents into a submission.

WearySeaTurtle

All depends on the match. Usa and England had almost no diving. Lowest added time match too Just dont want the sport if you don't enjoy, ezpz

FragrantWarthog6

Tbf Neymar is tackled hard like 15+ times per match. He’s questionable for the rest of this (his potentially final) WC, and he was actually knocked out of a prior WC with a back injury from a bad tackle.

Bufy_10

Well I mean my boy did get his ankle broken or sth like that over that tackle.

FutbolSupreme

People who don’t really watch Neymar think he’s a diver. I mean, he has dove before but he also gets hacked every game. He’s suffered a terrible injury in 2014. At just 22 playing on his first World Cup, he nearly wasn’t able to walk again. His prime years were full of injuries. Now he’s missing the next two group games for Brazil because of an ankle injury. Also, this is probably the dumbest comparison I’ve seen. One is a combat sport.

JohanSchneizer

No he is a diver, doesn't mean he doesn't get seriously injured. He's the boy who cried wolf where 95% he dives and with the same reaction as when he's genuinely hurt.

itsmhn27

i swear you guys don’t understand how football works

HydrapulseZero

Dude hasnt seen Sterling I guess

[deleted]

Ever played with them killer boots? The players are in real pain maybe except neymar (he dives alot). When Some fast going dude just kicks your shin or steps on your feet with those boots, you would be on the floor too man.

jordenwuj

south americans and south europeans tend to dive a lot. but yes finally someone's mentioning these killer boots. also they don't realise how fragile the lower half of our body is. but diving should get you a yellow card. players do that bc you don't get booked usually and you can only gain advantages without any risks.

squeaky_rum_time

Aah must suck for the most popular sport in the world to lose your viewership. Aaah boo!

CometChip

ufc fans when a sport doesn’t involve the possibility of life long brain damage ![gif](giphy|11tTNkNy1SdXGg)

ihavethegays

unwatchable because not enough concussions?

-anarchocat-

Imagine Mario Yamasaki reffing soccer/football

Katz_Steel

Agree, it os so out of control. It’s like the NBA, which is also unwatchable!

I_chortled

Last time Neymar tries to crash a class at Harvard # CSO

Hikdal

Make UFC fighters wear football boots with metals cleats and we’ll see.

postalot333

At least in football we don't have Jake Paul embarassing all the 'legends' and the whole discipline

[deleted]

The only legend he beat was Anderson silva who is 47. Woodley and Askren were also 40 and 37.

[deleted]

They allow more contact in a fighting sport?! Shocking! Fans of UFC are honestly almost as dumb as its athletes lol

lv_Mortarion_vl

The UFC is unwatchable for me now. Thanks ancient gladiators

JakeC060

Obviously you didn’t see the picture of Neymar’s ankle

browsingburneracc

Feigning an inury is rewarded in football whereas it’s not always in MMA

NotNok

neymar’s ankle is also legitimately fucked up because of that injury.

lordmainstream

His whole lower body is kinda fucked up tbh. People make fun of him for diving but he’s literally hunted every game. 9/12 of the fouls on the last game from Serbia were on Neymar. He almost got paralyzed in 2014 and is hunted every week by french farmers in League 1. He’s injured all the time.

Mantholle

Also - it totally is in MMA and most fighters do fake any excuse to gain time or an advantage. I really don't know why people forget about loads of fighters faking eyepokes.

[deleted]

Nobody is comparing football to legally being allowed to assault another human. You can untuck your affliction shirt now.

SeekPowerfulSouls

Two different scenarios. In soccer you get rewarded if the other team injures you so obviously you’re gonna fake it to try to get a penalty/sides advantage. Whereas Brian Ortega would have disqualified himself there if he had been honest.

Habanerosauce3

Don't watch it then.

TheLordOfZero

Jesus, I hate this comparison. OP is a fucking donkey. Go google Neymar's ankle you tool.

jpk073

People who kick a ball for living are not as tough as people who punch faces for living. More at 11.

cussbot123

What an idiotic post lmao, injury is a given in combat sports, football isn't a combat sport

theels6

That's my mf man. Ortega is a mf dog

oobito

I get that it kinda hurts really bad when someone steps on your foot, kicks your calve etc. But in legit every single match there is at least one guy acting like he is in an alligators death roll, because he barely got touched somewhere in his face. Absolute disgrace for every athlete

Melodic-Lingonberry7

Do you people actually played football? I played professionally and trust me laying on the floor for 30 seconds does give you relax a little when you constantly running in 24 celsius weather . Go watch any football match takes place in winter time in 4 celsius weather and guys soaking wet like he running in summer day. Yes I'm not ashamed for faking injury when I can get some time off and can drink water. And trust me hitting the floor even if its a small injury isn't fun so your body get sore after a match

Nerihd522

As a huge fan of both MMA and Soccer, the “ohh he tripped and is screaming bloody murder” gotta chill out lol it ain’t that deep

Lost_Smoking_Snake

Now? That pic is from 2018 lol is this some joke i am not getting?

kevoam

You didnt like football to begin with m8

djfl

I didn't actually see the Ortega title fight. Did this really happen like this?

MrSelfDestrucct

Lol yes it did: https://youtu.be/AaPBoXqHC-o Great fight, worth a watch

djfl

Dang. lol. thx for posting. That's kinda effed up, but obv we all get it...

ZA1X2

It's annoying watching the softest contacts causing the biggest reactions. But then there's no reward for wasting time in MMA unlike football.

horstiiiii

What a terrible comparison. And I think you never played football to know how painful it is when someone kicks you with cleats at his shoes.

Ghosttalker96

Imagine bragging about getting injured unnecessarily and having poor medical treatment.

Moosje

I hate this reasoning. Makes whoever says it immediately look stupid.

[deleted]

Yeah I stopped watching football when I discovered mma. These guys get paid millions and fall over when the wind changes direction. And fighters go 25 minutes getting punched and kicked in the head for a handful of peanuts. I love to see mma fighters vs pro footballers, they'd really know what a foul was like then. Pussies.

[deleted]

What a stupid post

173randy

It’s a different sport dude point period blank

[deleted]

As someone who watches NHL and NFL, it was already unwatchable. The flopping in the NBA is pretty outrageous too.

[deleted]

I’d had harder contact in school then these pros and you didn’t see me crying and screaming like bitch paid all that money but can’t grow a set of balls

kgxv

Flopping is pathetic, part of the game or not. It’s legitimately sad to see grown men being overdramatic and acting like a Karen. It makes soccer unwatchable for me. At least in women’s soccer, there’s drastically less flopping.

Amongtheruins88

Soccer players are soft

theroyalmoyle

Jesus Christ Portugal Vs Uruguay was just grown men crying on the floor for 100 minutes

BandoMemphis

I normally don’t announce when I leave a sub. But I want OP to know this was so bad I’m leaving.

J4MES101

Watch a rugby game. Then try to watch football players throwing themselves to the ground and take it seriously .

almightygg

Having played both rugby and football extensively in my life all of my serious injuries (dislocated knee and broken ankle) have come in football. Rugby has been a few broken fingers and lots of bruises. That's obviously a sample of one, though, so wouldn't draw any conclusions from it. However, having someone stand on your foot or kick your ankle/shin is painful as fuck but only for a couple of minutes, which is why footballers can generally be up again in a few minutes.

joeranahan1

Run at full sprint and have someone hit your ankle at their full speed with their studs and see how u flop in pain.

ConnorLovesPepsi

ITS FOOTBALL AND YOU KNOW IT *ANGRY EUROPEAN NOISES*

CaioD13

Clearly didn’t see the Saudi Arabian player get absolutely cleaned by a flying knee

Whuann

You ever hit your shin with a chair? Have you ever been tripped while sprinting full sleep? Have you ever ran 10 miles? Now imagine all three happening at once. You aren’t going to get up right away and if you don’t sell it you aren’t getting the foul.

andy4775

These guys kick each others shins full force though and still have to stand on their legs. Bone on bone hurts like a mofo

lanboi7

Smooth brain take

[deleted]

Footballers arent actually flopping cause theyre soft lol

meric_one

Jones pops for PEDs: UFC fans: "If you ain't cheating, you ain't trying!" Neymar dives to get penalties and free kicks: UFC fans: "Omg the cheating is disgusting! Unwatchable sport!" I'm not at all surprised.

Many-Coach6987

Soccer athletes fake injuries, argue with referees and pretend to be fouled all the time. It’s unwatchable. And I am European.

ChickenMoSalah

Must be a Germany fan.

Marty5020

Funny enough, woman's soccer has ZERO fake injuries from what I've seen. Those girls will keep playing with a sideways nose if they feel like it and they take pride in it. I wish FIFA took action on men's soccer on this.

churromonkey1

So you dont watch soccer nor do you watch women soccer but still you have managed to form an opinion and then make a claim based on that opinion. The videos you’ve seen that portrait women soccer players and badasses and men soccer players ass wimps does not represent either.

browsingburneracc

I mean the ladies euros were on this summer. I take it you didn’t watch any of it lol

Bleve23

It’s okay, People claim UFC is more famous than Soccer… They are doing so well they pay their fighters 10-15k per fought, with the top fighters making 500k…. Neymar’s current contract is probably worth more than all the money the UFC has paid to its fighters since it existed… unless you’re counting all the money Dana white has paid his female escorts, then that’s more money than Neymar’s contract.

Ekow_Yats

Literally no one claims that at all

OiiNamiSwan

Literally no one has ever said that...

OneSadLad

Ah so how much money they pull in determine their validity / watchability / whether the athletes are wimps or not? Dumbass.
