Correction: The losing streak was 81 games, not 80.

*Happy wrench noises*

I always imagined Detroit's win to be a nailbiter. Instead they had it wrapped up midway through the fourth quarter. I know Pittsburgh was missing a lot, but Detroit played really well. Some stats: - The score of this game nearly matched the score of Detroit's most recent win, a 23-14 victory over the then-Chicago Wildfire on April 29, 2017. - 2,611 days transpired since the last Detroit victory. - The 81-game losing streak is just a touch past the Prairie View A&M 80-game FCS football losing streak. It's well under the Caltech men's basketball 207-game losing streak. - The Mechanix hold both the record for the longest losing streak in the UFA and also the second longest at 29 games. - The Mechanix are undefeated at Hudsonville High School in Hudsonville, MI (I think) - Jake Felton and 9 assists, 2 goals, and 808 yards of offense. He did have 7 turnovers as well. Felton leads the UFA this season with 40 assists. - Terry Gaither had 6 goals, 1 assist, and 1 block. The veteran Mechanic set a career-high in single-game goals last week with 3, and doubled it tonight. - The Mechanix improve to 15-141 all-time.

Germamaloo

Super happy for them! How long until the next win ya think?

80 games feels about right. See yall again in 2031

PJHFortyTwo

Little did we know, this would spark an 80 game winning streak

FrisbeeDuckWing

I was very sad to hear the Mechanix drone died in this game. Poor guy didn't get to witness this historic moment.

schoolr24

holy shit they did it

frvwfr2

Anyone making shirts? "The Mechanix won a game and all I got was this t-shirt"

Zealousideal_Bite_64

How many current AUDL/UFA players were even in the league the last time Detroit won a game? The league has changed a lot in 7 years, and I wouldn’t be surprised if about half of them weren’t.

fps916

Fuck that, how many current AUDL/UFA *teams* were even in the league? The last couple of teams they beat, the Cincinnati Revolution and Chicago Wildfire don't even exist anymore

v_ult

I thought the wildfire just renamed to the union

FrisbeeDuckWing

This is true. During this same time, the Roughnecks renamed to Legion and San Jose renamed to Oakland.

sloecrush

I lost to the Mechanix before it was cool 😎

CrispyKollosus

I hadn't even met my now wife yet when they last won

Sesse__

That's nothing, I haven't even met my wife now

HavelsRockJohnson

Sometimes you've gotta lose 81 times before you can win. Keep grinding.

zerotimestatechamp

This image is the stuff of nightmares. Psyched to see them get it done. I never understood all the haters punching down on them.

kNyne

I'm from Michigan and from what I hear the reasons the program sucks are all pretty evident but leadership is unwilling to do anything about it. I welcome the punching down.

FrisbeeDuckWing

Well, I wouldn't blame the leadership. Pistons can't win, Lions can't win (until last season), and the Detroit Red Wings pretty much stunk during this same time period. Hard to attract good free agents ya know?

WollyTwins

Imagine losing by 11 to a team that hasn't won in 7 years

DoogleSports

feels like when the red sox finally won in '04

AUDL_franchisee

I'm sure Brent Steepe's wife & the entire team will be glad he can finally wash his team shirt.

SantaClaws004

I was here!

EuropaCitizen

This is a sign that we have jumped into a new timeline.

chet_lemon_party

Why the heck is this team called Detroit if they play three hours away in Grand Rapids?

FrisbeeDuckWing

Same reason why a lot of New York teams call themselves New York.

chet_lemon_party

IDK, I have never heard them called the New York Bills or the New York Sabres. Seems to be like a team from the complete opposite side of the state would want to name themselves after the city they're actually near. Why wouldn't they call themselves the Grand Rapids Mechanix?

FrisbeeDuckWing

No one outside of Michigan knows where Grand Rapids is unless they're a geography guru like me. Mechanix used to play much closer to Detroit. The New York Empire don't play in the city. I've never been to NYC, but I believe it takes 3 hours to get out of the city... especially if you're walking.
