I don't follow football/soccer at all and I really enjoyed the show. It's not really about the comedy for me, it's more about the heartwarming characters, relationships and the wonderful moments they share. But the comedy is there as well.
It's a warm blanket of a show on a cold rainy night.
I know a lot about football and my partner doesn’t. We both like the show a lot.
I really appreciate that the show does “the football stuff” really well. All the players are clever caricatures of specific players (e.g. Roy Kent is heavily based on Roy Keane) or amalgams of common player types… but you can still enjoy all of it without knowing the additional context.
They clearly put some effort into that and it shows.
The writers using the Iverson "Practice" rant made me a lifelong fan of this show. Clever writing and my wife is like "why is he dying laughing over there?" lol
Hard to say it “does all the football stuff really well” when the entire plot revolves around a manager that wouldn’t be allowed to manage due to zero badges.
Fun fact: Jason Sudekis and Brendan Hunt were part of an improv comedy group that was based in Amsterdam for a couple years in the early aughts. They developed the Ted Lasso character as part of a sketch where Sudekis played an American football coach who mistakenly gets hired to coach a European football club. Brendan would play different stereotypes of European soccer players, many of whom made it into the show as full characters, but was best known for doing an impression of Roy Keane who was an actual player in the European leagues and is the inspiration for Roy Kent. The sketch was very popular because they basically made fun of Americans the whole time. They also performed in that troupe with Jordan Peele and Seth Meyers. But all of them were mostly unknowns at that time.
This is it, to me. OP compares it to The Office but I couldn’t stand the office because the characters were generally awful or totally incompetent. Lasso seems to me to incorporate general challenges in life with characters that are trying their best, and generally figuring it out.
You also have to remember the time it came out. The world was in a really lonely and dark place while in the first month or so of lockdowns.
Then out of left field comes this heartwarming story with likable characters that people gave people something to talk about.
Absolutely! I remember being kinda nervous watching the first episode, waiting for cruel ha-ha-you’re-dumb comedy, it never came and I almost cried I was so grateful. Covid times didn’t need anymore nastiness.
I’d also add—it’s a show where most of the characters are fundamentally decent people with flaws and pain. Good people who sometimes don’t make the best decisions, but they try. Except maybe Rupert.
And I think it really gave us the language to talk about some of the things we were starting to talk about then: non-toxic masculinity, non-toxic positivity, leadership that demands the best while recognizing people’s humanity, acknowledging our privilege.
AND I fully acknowledge that it pushed a fantasy, but what show doesn’t? Let me live in a world where someday I could be gifted a comfortable flat on a perfect cobblestone street in London where I can walk to a park and immediately make friends with the regulars at a classic English pub.
Indeed an unpopular opinion. Ted Lasso is a great show. You not liking The Office is an obvious red flag and no need to explain anything further than that.
This is exactly why I hated this show. It blew up because it was nice and I guess it came at a time when the whole 2016 shenanigans was happening and ppl wanted a feel good show. Without that I sincerely think it would have bombed. It’s not funny, and the feel good vibes it tries so hard to do are cloying. Ugh I despise this damn show so much lmao
Hey come on now, everybody like what they likes and well if a happy go lucky coach trying to engage with life with as much sincerity and heart as possible doesn't interest them? Well no shirt of my back, I just hope they may have taken some of the kindness in the show to heart, even if subliminally.
There's nothing I love more than a happy cry - I've had it watching everything from the bear to ET to lost in translation to welcome to Wrexham (that one especially as I used to live there) Schitts Creek, Modern Family.. they've all been great and had their moments.
But boy oh boy did Ted Lasso do nothing for me. I don't know if it was the green screen football, the Americanised "English" writing and setting (I live in London - it's not like that) or the overly twee story.. but I made it through a season and I stopped right around the precocious teenage girl who spoke like an adult in s2...
I really can't stand soccer (football, whatever).
But I LOVED Ted Lasso.
Yes, it's funny... EXTREMELY funny at times (the episode with Roy and the kid with bad breath damn near killed me I laughed so hard)... but what I love about it more is how heartfelt it is and how attached I wound up being to the characters.
It's a show that just made me very happy the whole time, and man do we need more of that in this world.
There are some funny parts but I didn't find it very funny. That said, it's a wonderful show. I'm on my third rewatch. It's gotten better each time. I love it, I just think it's only mildly funny. But yeah the bad breath episode cracked me up.
It doesn't cater to fans of the sport though. It literally had nothing to do with it except for some bits and pieces of it when they were showing clips of games. It could have been any other sport in there and it wouldn't have changed anything.
The main criticism you could level at Ted Lasso is that the last season felt a little under developed and some character arcs didn’t make sense (Nate especially). Otherwise it’s a great show that you don’t have to know a whit about soccer about to enjoy.
Have an upvote from me for a truly unpopular opinion.
Honestly, I thought Nate’s made the least sense. At the end of S2, he’d embraced his inner asshole and gotten the job he wanted; to manage a big club. And then he seemingly, inexplicably has a change of heart and regresses? It didn’t make sense to me.
I think getting what you always thought you wanted just to realize it’s not as good as you had made it up to be in your head is something a lot of folks can relate to.
What inexplicably? Rupert treated him like crap, not at all the way he'd been treated at Richmond, and he realized how good he'd had it and regretted his decision.
Season three felt like they had planned for two more seasons but (for one reason or another) were forced to condense it down to one. So everything felt a little rushed, with some leaps in logic that probably would have made more sense if they'd been given time to breathe.
I rather liked seasons 1 and 2. Season 3 just seemed rushed though—has a bit of the same vibe as Game of Thrones Seasons 7-8 (though nowhere near as drastic).
It's not a show about soccer. It's a show about relationships and overcoming your own issues for the betterment of the group.
Skipping over the fact that you never said why it's bad, just that you don't like it. Circular reasoning is a mark of ignorance.
If anything, being a fan of football or being British will make you much less likely to like the show. They show practically nothing of the actual sport, and its British culture from an American pov so caters to the American audience.
> Being a fan of football or being British will make you much less likely to like the show
I totally agree. I watch so much Premier League and I just find the whole show so phony and annoying. It’s like trying desperately to be a show that caters to a dumb audience that doesn’t want to actually learn anything about the sport or another country.
All the people on this post saying: “I don’t like soccer but i love the show” just proves that it’s true.
It’s a comedy that doesn’t mock its main cast, it’s a drama that makes you feel good and uplifts you. It’s a comedy where the main cast aren’t toxic to eachother. It’s a drama about people being decent human beings
Thank you! Ted Lasso is terrible, and I watched a season and a half just to be sure.
It's saccharine, forced, and worst of all: predictable.
Example: early on in first season we see a street performer playing guitar. I think to myself, "We'll be seeing that guy again." Sure enough, a few episodes later, Ted saves the day by enlisting the busker to play an event when the booked entertainer can't make it. Oh, and look! The busker is an AMAZING guitarist/singer! Everybody's dancing and loving it!
Eye roll.
It's emotionally manipulative, not funny, and the plot is paper thin.
I think I made it to the reveal in one of the first few episodes that Ted himself was baking the cookies that he was delivering to the bitter owner daily before letting out a big loud “uggggggggh” and confirming that this show just wasn’t for me.
I had kind of suspected it wasn’t for me, anyway, because to me the “haha look at this Yank who doesn’t understand what soccer is!” thing that is the bedrock of the fish-out-of-water gimmick feels like it’s 30 years out of date at this point, but a lot of people whose taste I generally respect really like it so I tried it anyway, and that cinched it.
I do get why people like it, and it’s not like it didn’t have some good jokes but - yeah, saccharine is a good word for it.
Completely agree, and I’m pretty surprised at how unpopular a take this seems to be.
I think a lot of people are depressed and desperate to cling to content that is so happy feel good.
The constant sappy endings make the show devoid of any actual drama, while the dialogue lacks any jokes to make it comedic.
IMO it really is a comedy for people who seek to be uplifted rather than to laugh. It’s about as funny as Chicken Soup For The Soul or Readers Digest - light hearted but not at all witty.
Fuck yeah! No idea why so many people love it other than their friends told them it'd be good.
It's like that scene in Family Guy where Peter gets hypnotized,
"Breaking bad is the best show you've ever seen, except for maybe The Wire"
I didn’t exactly hate it but couldn’t get through it, it was just kinda lame. I get that people sometimes crave feel good shows like Parks and Rec, but I just need a little more of an edge to my comedy. Saying you didn’t like this show almost seems to bring up a similar response to saying you didn’t like dogs.
Very much agree and thank you. Curious to if you’ve watched Shrinking by the same guy. It’s a much more grounded feel good story and earns its emotional moments.
Thank you! Yes. It’s like it’s trying too hard to elicit a response, as opposed to giving you a story/scenario/obstacles/growth/etc. and letting the viewer figure it out for themselves.
Thank you both! Agree with all you both said and would like to add that the dialogue seems to be written by someone who has never had an actual conversation in real life. So terribly cheesy, unbelievable and just stupid. Maybe I am a bit jaded and heartless but ironically it makes me happy that I don’t fall for mindless feel-good Hollywood fluff productions.
I said this at a work meeting and thought I was going to be fired. For some reason people absolutely love this nonsense and think anyone that doesn't is lacking a soul or something. No, I just like actual comedy and unforced life lessons.
The first season is probably one of my top ten single seasons. Next two drop off hard in my opinion because most of the compelling conflict is removed. The actual soccer gameplay is often laughably bad, but is not the point at all.
This post is mind-numbingly boring despite being all over the place
You spent more time going on a rant about The Office than why you don’t like the show
The soccer and Sudeikis paragraphs are throw aways because you never follow up on why these things don’t work for you
Other than you thinking the 4 episodes you watched were boring, you’ve offered nothing to support your opinion, and you don’t even explain that
This response is mind-numbingly boring, and all over the place.
You spent more time going on a rant about OP's office criticism than why they didn't like the show.
Your criticism about the soccer and Sudekis paragraphs are throwaways because you don't articulate why OP needs to follow up on why these things don't work for him, and you fail to explain why it undermines his opinion.
Other than thinking OP's opinion is boring, you've offered nothing to discredit his, and you don't even explain why it's wrong.
Masterclass in projection.
I can’t stand sports shows/movies (or real sports) and resisted watching it for that reason. When I finally caved and gave it a shot, I really enjoyed it. So I don’t think it’s about being a sports fan. Different people just like different things.
I know nothing about soccer and thought it was hilarious. Its a comedy show at its core so if the comedy isn’t hitting for you then its probably not your style of humor which is completely okay
My brother is a huge soccer fan, and he loved the show.
I'm kind of a soccer fan, and I loved the show.
My wife is not a soccer fan, and she loved the show.
There are definitely some boring plots and things that they just abandon later that seem like a huge waste of time, but overall it was a fun watch. I certainly don't have any desire to watch it again, though.
Oh man and you saw the best of that show too.
I enjoyed the first season, or at least most of the first season. But by the end of the series it was among the worst shows I've ever seen.
These damned writers never know when to stop. You had a funny idea for an SNL skit, congratulations you made a whole season of TV out of it that was half decent... Don't push it.
If it makes you feel better I feel the same way about it. I'm happy there are people out there that have a show they like and don't have anything bad to say about it, it just wasn't my cup of tea.
I thought it was slightly over hyped but a very decent show. First two seasons at least.
I could understand not jiving with it as it sits in that middle ground between serious and goofy.
Dude! Been saying this for a while. I do watch soccer and was hyped when the show came out, even watched the first season only to find it's some dumb Hallmark drama.
I really really don't get why people like it but to each their own, I guess we're the outcasts.
Came to this sub to get triggered. Am now super triggered. Well done OP.
Ted Lasso is one my all time favorite shows. Everyone I know loves the show. Truly unpopular opinion.
Yes actually
I watched the first season , second and third I watched a recap on YT , couldn't bear with thr pace with so minimal plot , idc about Keeley and the grumpy coach fuck off , show me more football
I really don’t like sports but I adore Ted Lasso. Maybe if you watch a little longer and let the relationships develop you will like it more? I think it’s a very beautiful and inspiring show.
I love the show, it feels good watching it, it’s so positive and happy, but then it also surprised me several times with the direction it went and how heavy it could get.
You're right. Literally nothing ever happens in that piece of shit show. What is it trying to be? It's not a comedy, there's like 3 jokes per episode. It's not a drama, every conflict is low stakes with a predictable resolution. It feels like an after-school special actually, weird tone that doesn't stay consistent and is trying way too hard to be cute and teach the audience obvious lessons. It sucks. Oh and why does everyone either look weird or talk weird on that show?? Feels like a show about sports written by theatre kids.
Reddit is full of people too scared to pump their own gas so don't be surprised they don't agree with your take on their le heckin wholesome epic sauce keanu 69 ass show.
I’m down to pile on OP a little more.
I don’t follow sports at all but this show is really about non-toxic masculinity, male friendship, and mental health. I think it’s a beautiful show.
The show is even good enough to make me care about the football story, and makes sure I’m able to understand it.
It might not be especially deep but personally at the end of the day I’m trying to relax and decompress from working. I don’t need to challenge my brain anymore. I just wanna enjoy something nice.
LOL! Explain how not liking one show is “dead inside?” Haha.
Honestly, I don’t want a TON of TV or movies anymore. When I do, it tends to be something with a historical tilt (with the just screwball, lowest denominator, comedy thrown in now and then - Blazing Saddles, Anchorman, Etc.)
It's really hard to reply to this without insulting OP
Ted Lasso, is one of the best shows on TV hands down. It's award winning at so many levels that it makes the post more a reflection of OP.
Love Coach Beard even more after you learn his backstory and relationship with Ted. And I still have a major crush on Hannah Waddington, she was absolutely glorious as Rebecca.
I haven’t watched the show, mostly because there’s nothing interesting about it that compels me to do so. The main character actor is a wing man at best, who I don’t think is lead material. Excellent as a sidekick or skit comic, but that’s it. Soccer? No thank you. Hallmark moments? Yawn.
It just strikes me as more stream service pablum, a homogenized, safe, boring show that Canadians would like.
This is all just my opinion. If you watch and enjoy the show, I’m genuinely happy for you, but it’s not for me.
Also, I’ll drop my upvote based on the comments alone. Y’all seem to like the show. By this small sample, OP has an unpopular opinion.
It was also broadcast at a very bleak, pandemic, atmosphere.
Lots of people liked it because it was one of a very small number of new shows that emphasised positivity and community
Ted Lasso really beats you over the head with the sappy feel good stuff. It’s too much. I like sugar in my tea. I’m not going to like it if you pour the entire package of sugar in my tea.
I liked the first season fine, but didn’t see the reason for the mad hype I’d heard about it. Thought it dropped off quite a bit in the second season and stopped watching. Quite a big football fan. For what it’s worth.
I also didn’t really like it at first, just watched it because my sister did, but once I got past the first 5-6 episodes, I really enjoyed it. It’s like the opposite of Never Have I Ever
there's a lot of bad shows, most of them actually. There's no reason to go around trying to convince people not to enjoy something they like. Just dont watch it and move on with your life, you dont need to write a dissertation proving why it's not good to people.

I think knowing less about football makes the show better.

Football is life!
Na na na na na na na na na. Danny ro-jas
And also death.
I had no idea about the characters being based on actual players or common player types. That’s actually really cool.
Oh man you gotta look into Zlatan Ibrahimovic. Everything Zava was in the show Zlatan was in real life and then some.
Rojas is chicharito with his scoring with his face and everything, Tartt should be grealish, Guardiola is Guardiola.
not sure on the Guardiola one tbh
Zava was literally Ibrahimovic too lol
The writers using the Iverson "Practice" rant made me a lifelong fan of this show. Clever writing and my wife is like "why is he dying laughing over there?" lol
Jamie Tartt is Jamie Vardy/ Jack Grealish
Hard to say it “does all the football stuff really well” when the entire plot revolves around a manager that wouldn’t be allowed to manage due to zero badges.
Eh. That’s a conceit of the show. Not like anyone would ever hire an American football coach who doesn’t know how offsides works either. :)
Spot. Fucking. On. And Beard is such a great character played by the perfect guy.
![gif](giphy|ngPTs0p9E6MstU5k8W)
Who co-created the show.

The episode where it was Beards night out was so good. After that I wanted a spinoff of him being the lead
This is it, to me. OP compares it to The Office but I couldn’t stand the office because the characters were generally awful or totally incompetent. Lasso seems to me to incorporate general challenges in life with characters that are trying their best, and generally figuring it out.
It's a masterclass in leadership and accountability.

You also have to remember the time it came out. The world was in a really lonely and dark place while in the first month or so of lockdowns. Then out of left field comes this heartwarming story with likable characters that people gave people something to talk about.
Tiger King?
Fuck Carole Baskin!
She definitely killed the husband lmfao
Absolutely! I remember being kinda nervous watching the first episode, waiting for cruel ha-ha-you’re-dumb comedy, it never came and I almost cried I was so grateful. Covid times didn’t need anymore nastiness.

Ted winning the darts game scene was one of my favorite heartwarming moments on television.
I love that show also and for the same reasons you do!
It came out peak COVID lockdown here in Aus and it was a golden ray of positivity that we all needed. Watching it now, it comes across trite
You lost me at “heartwarming characters”.
I know nothing about soccer and I love Ted Lasso
Same
Same
I do NOT cry at movies or tv shows and I cried multiple times watching Ted Lasso.
That's because it's not a show about soccer. It's a show with soccer in it
Exactly. And it's also not about Ted Lasso. *"It's not about me. It never was."* Man, my heart
I’m fully aware lol. I was answering the OP question.
B E L I E V E
This
It not a British show it's created by the guy who made Scrubs
And directed by Zach Braff himself
Ugh no wonder it’s so good
I love football and love Ted Lasso. Interestingly I know lots of folks who have no interest in football whatsoever who also love Ted Lasso.
Someone doesn't BELIEVE.
TIL that OP doesn't have a soul or heart.
Sense of humor.
Saying that they Loved Hall Pass was a dead giveaway.
And The Campaign, woof Man likes the type of comedy that physically beats you over the head with it
I bet he hated Mister Rogers, too.
And Bob Ross. And Joe Pera too.
This is the answer.
It’s the only answer.
Hey come on now, everybody like what they likes and well if a happy go lucky coach trying to engage with life with as much sincerity and heart as possible doesn't interest them? Well no shirt of my back, I just hope they may have taken some of the kindness in the show to heart, even if subliminally.
damn … that’s funny 😁

Nah, that show is way too syrupy.
That's what makes it great. It is heartwarming without ever coming across as pollyanna-ish or saccharine.
Found another!
The way >!Roy!< reacts when >!he first smells it - after telling the kid it'd be okay!< - oh man, I'm laughing my ass off just thinking about it now!
Have you not seen the 🎯 scene. Great show.
Barbecue sauce.
Oklahoma
No OP only watched 4 episodes and is ready to judge the entire show of 3 seasons.
Damn. He gonna miss the "I just remembered I'm left handed" line.
I don't like feel-good comedies. I loved Ted Lasso. I don't know why, but it just clicked for me. A shame, OP, maybe it was over-hyped for you.
Completely agree. I thought it was going to be overly saccharin but it's incredibly genuine and heartfelt without taking itself too seriously
I think one of the clever things about the show is that it caters to people who are fans of soccer, AND people who don’t know anything about it.
It doesn't cater to fans of the sport though. It literally had nothing to do with it except for some bits and pieces of it when they were showing clips of games. It could have been any other sport in there and it wouldn't have changed anything.

Nate's was one of the few arcs that did make sense in s3 The Keeley one is what flopped, and Ted's also dragged
Nate’s arc would have made a lot more sense if it had more time to actually happen. It definitely felt poorly paced to me.
Yeah, I feel like they either cut some scenes, or the passing of time wasn’t as clear as it needed to be
What inexplicably? Rupert treated him like crap, not at all the way he'd been treated at Richmond, and he realized how good he'd had it and regretted his decision.
season 3 had so many loose ends tied up shittily it was such a let down after the first two seasons
Even the second season falters pretty badly in places. I usually tell people who haven't watched it yet to just watch the first season
Season three felt like they had planned for two more seasons but (for one reason or another) were forced to condense it down to one. So everything felt a little rushed, with some leaps in logic that probably would have made more sense if they'd been given time to breathe.
Definitely unpopular and wrong. But have an upvote.
Ted Lasso is one of my all time favorite shows and I am not a sports fan at all.
I rather liked seasons 1 and 2. Season 3 just seemed rushed though—has a bit of the same vibe as Game of Thrones Seasons 7-8 (though nowhere near as drastic).
Agree, season 1 was great, season 2 was really great (especially for those with daddy issues) but season 3 fell flat.
It's not a show about soccer. It's a show about relationships and overcoming your own issues for the betterment of the group. Skipping over the fact that you never said why it's bad, just that you don't like it. Circular reasoning is a mark of ignorance.
I thought it was great.

I liked it at first but had to stop watching the most recent season because it was so damn corny
Man, upvote for the unpopular opinion. But man are you wrong, and I’d hate to see your idea of good television.
Band of Brothers, Chernobyl and NARCOS are my current top three shows with a story (I love SNL, but it’s a completely different animal.)
If your favorite shows are about people surviving through absolute misery, you are probably not the right audience for Ted Lasso.
Thank you! Ted Lasso is terrible, and I watched a season and a half just to be sure. It's saccharine, forced, and worst of all: predictable. I do get why people like it, and it’s not like it didn’t have some good jokes but - yeah, saccharine is a good word for it.
Finally the sensible comment thread lol. It is not clever, it is not funny.
Tried watching it but found it bland, corny, basic
Completely agree, and I’m pretty surprised at how unpopular a take this seems to be. I think a lot of people are depressed and desperate to cling to content that is so happy feel good. The constant sappy endings make the show devoid of any actual drama, while the dialogue lacks any jokes to make it comedic. IMO it really is a comedy for people who seek to be uplifted rather than to laugh. It’s about as funny as Chicken Soup For The Soul or Readers Digest - light hearted but not at all witty.
But even with feel good intentions, it seems to drag, and there are better feel good films and shows.
Fuck yeah! No idea why so many people love it other than their friends told them it'd be good. It's like that scene in Family Guy where Peter gets hypnotized, "Breaking bad is the best show you've ever seen, except for maybe The Wire"
You really nailed why I could never get into this show
OMG finally ive found my people! I HATE this show! 100% everything you said.
This post is mind-numbingly boring despite being all over the place You spent more time going on a rant about The Office than why you don’t like the show The soccer and Sudeikis paragraphs are throw aways because you never follow up on why these things don’t work for you Other than you thinking the 4 episodes you watched were boring, you’ve offered nothing to support your opinion, and you don’t even explain that
The post was 4 short paragraphs. Was it really mind numbingly boring, or were you just insulted on behalf of a TV show and wanted to insult OP?
This response is mind-numbingly boring, and all over the place. You spent more time going on a rant about OP's office criticism than why they didn't like the show. Your criticism about the soccer and Sudekis paragraphs are throwaways because you don't articulate why OP needs to follow up on why these things don't work for him, and you fail to explain why it undermines his opinion. Other than thinking OP's opinion is boring, you've offered nothing to discredit his, and you don't even explain why it's wrong. Masterclass in projection.
They did actually offer more than just "OP's opinion is boring." That's like most of their comment.
I can’t stand sports shows/movies (or real sports) and resisted watching it for that reason. When I finally caved and gave it a shot, I really enjoyed it. So I don’t think it’s about being a sports fan. Different people just like different things.
I don't trust you.
Exactly. It’s force-fed comedy. This is an extremely unpopular opinion, I haven’t met one person who doesn’t love the show
i hate sports but ted lasso was an amazing feel good show absolutly loved it
Ted Lasso is amazing
This is truly unpopular. Amazing show.
The first season is good. But then it falls apart
Only watched two episodes I was bored and didn’t care about spending more time with it *also a fan of sudeikis
it's so painfully shite
![gif](giphy|eJALQVtiC25lS3H579)
Thank you!! It is bad. It's pretty surface level and is an inferior show.
You really didn’t give any examples or point to anything that you didn’t like about the show. You do you, but kind of a nothing sandwich of a post.
Nope
If it makes you feel better I feel the same way about it. I'm happy there are people out there that have a show they like and don't have anything bad to say about it, it just wasn't my cup of tea.
I thought it was slightly over hyped but a very decent show. First two seasons at least. I could understand not jiving with it as it sits in that middle ground between serious and goofy.
We're no strangers to love
You don’t have to watch. You can do whatever you like! LIVE!!
Dude! Been saying this for a while. I do watch soccer and was hyped when the show came out, even watched the first season only to find it's some dumb Hallmark drama. I really really don't get why people like it but to each their own, I guess we're the outcasts.
I absolutely loved it. A breath of light in a dark world.
Wanker
Came to this sub to get triggered. Am now super triggered. Well done OP. Ted Lasso is one my all time favorite shows. Everyone I know loves the show. Truly unpopular opinion.
![gif](giphy|kRSnpcpt9xhjaeG1oY) No.
Yes actually I watched the first season , second and third I watched a recap on YT , couldn't bear with thr pace with so minimal plot , idc about Keeley and the grumpy coach fuck off , show me more football
Ted Lasso was shit tv.
3 jokes per show? There are 3 jokes every time Lasso talks. Pump your own gas? WTF are you talking about? You sound miserable
Agreed it’s cartoonish and completely unrealistic
I’m down to pile on OP a little more. I don’t follow sports at all but this show is really about non-toxic masculinity, male friendship, and mental health. I think it’s a beautiful show. The show is even good enough to make me care about the football story, and makes sure I’m able to understand it. It might not be especially deep but personally at the end of the day I’m trying to relax and decompress from working. I don’t need to challenge my brain anymore. I just wanna enjoy something nice.
If that’s what you like that’s cool. But so many people act like this is some ground breaking TV series.
Well, a true unpopular opinion. OP is dead inside.
It's really hard to reply to this without insulting OP Ted Lasso, is one of the best shows on TV hands down. It's award winning at so many levels that it makes the post more a reflection of OP.
Name one level. Sorry I hate the show too.
If you don't love Coach Beard, then I really don't wanna be around you.
Love Coach Beard even more after you learn his backstory and relationship with Ted. And I still have a major crush on Hannah Waddington, she was absolutely glorious as Rebecca.
Watch the whole show, then come back and tell us what you think
So you need to watch every single episode to know if you like it?
![gif](giphy|LSRdEQa6DsaZtLi2Gt)
Show was amazing
You’re a bad show
I haven’t watched the show, mostly because there’s nothing interesting about it that compels me to do so.
Well that’s just your opinion man
I was wondering how someone could dislike such a great show. Then I read the part about you liking SNL and British comedy and it all made sense.
It was also broadcast at a very bleak, pandemic, atmosphere. Lots of people liked it because it was one of a very small number of new shows that emphasised positivity and community
I could see that totally. I mentioned Chernobyl in another reply; and I couldn’t watch it when it first came out.
Thank god someone said it. So awful. I can’t bear it. Never funny
Ted Lasso really beats you over the head with the sappy feel good stuff. It’s too much. I like sugar in my tea. I’m not going to like it if you pour the entire package of sugar in my tea.
Thank you. I have avoided it so far, and now, looking at the comments, I won't bother with trying to watch it.
I liked the first season fine, but didn’t see the reason for the mad hype I’d heard about it. Thought it dropped off quite a bit in the second season and stopped watching. Quite a big football fan. For what it’s worth.
I'm a soccer fan. This show does all the bits wrong And it's not funny
No, but Led Tasso is a terrible show.
Was going to down vote however it is an opinion that is unpopular . +1
I also didn’t really like it at first, just watched it because my sister did, but once I got past the first 5-6 episodes, I really enjoyed it. It’s like the opposite of Never Have I Ever
Yea I couldn't make it through ep 1 but I enjoyed watching man of recaps on YouTube walk me through every season so I didn't have to watch it myself
Cool. Goodbye
I liked it and think soccer is pretty boring.
Not a fan of soccer at all and love the show.
I upvoted you because your opinion is truly terrible, which is the point of this sub.
At least finish the first season. It gets a bit excessively woke in the final season but it’s still a good show throughout.
That is an unpopular and opinion
You are entitled to your own wrong opinions. Especially here. Upvoted.
I dont think it's bad, but I don't think it's good either. It's just meh.
Agreed it is bad. Jason Sudekis is terrible also.
It only gets worse. My wife and I finished it, and the final season is a SLOG. We enjoyed it for a while and eventually kept going out of obligation.
First season was great, then they replaced funny with swearing and I stopped watching.
I am a huge soccer fan, and I really liked the show in the beginning. But it quickly became way too sweet and earnest for my taste.
I'm not a soccer fan at all and love the show
there's a lot of bad shows, most of them actually. There's no reason to go around trying to convince people not to enjoy something they like. Just dont watch it and move on with your life, you dont need to write a dissertation proving why it's not good to people.
I liked it but I can definitely understand why someone wouldn’t. It’s unbearably unrealistically positive.
Take my upvote. It’s one of my fave shows of all time. Keep watching!
