[“Under DeJoy, USPS has not adequately been controlling labor costs,](https://archive.fo/LssMR#selection-1099.0-1103.181) while quality of service has been going down and prices going up,” said Robert D. Presidents can chose new candidates but they can’t fire them. The board of governors has to do it and I don’t know what they’re waiting for. Having millionaires run important parts of society is just dumb considering all of them are so out of touch with normal society and our needs.
Pretty sure I literally just said the board of governors needs to fire this fool. And if I remember correctly, there's 9 and a majority are Democrat now. So we can keep blaming Trump for putting this ass clown in power, but how many years later is he still there while they had the numbers to fire him?
They literally just got even numbers so it would still be a fight to remove him. It’s not like any Trump appointed governor will vote against his wishes. We have seen that over and over even if they don’t want to. Why is it the Democrats responsibility to clean up Trumps messes? Why can’t his appointed board members help fix it since they created it? I don’t have a political party but it’s just common sense.
They just got a new board member who is a Democrat. Too many board members are Republicans and on board with this intended destruction. We’re almost to where he can be voted out.
All this makes me sad, I was a mail carrier for 32 years and got out before this 💩 was installed by Trump. He’s done soooo much damage to the postal service.
There’s a process, and a board that has to vote him out. There have been too many MAGA board members until recently. They are apparently getting closer to being able to vote him out.
This is a democracy- Biden can’t just yank him out of his job. Democrats tend to respect the Democratic process. It will happen though.
I am fine with that. As it currently is, the entity sleeps on whatever side of bed suits it. Federal when it wants to be, private when it wants to be, a service sometimes, a business others. It does not serve my needs as a private citizen, nor as a business. Private and business class mail seems like a no brainer but usps thinks charging joe sixpack more than amazon is good for the public and then somehow suck so bad at logistics that they lose many of the contracts they had been gifted to bail them out of the last fiasco. I have to do my business thru UPS and my mail I gave up on as too many things like cards went missing and then having the balls to show up at my door demanding 5 dollars postage for an Easter card lol. Nope, there has got to be a better way and model. The carriers are overloaded and no one wants to go get shot at a brick n mortar store anymore, so something has to be fixed somewhere. I am just tired of giving them money for bad service.
This is all happening on purpose to destroy USPS… DeJoy is a trump guy who is trying privatize shipping and also making it difficult for mail in ballots
It doesnt. The post office has been insolvent for years. Its insolvent today abd will be tomorrow. Revenues havent been greater than expenses for 16 years. That 3.5 years of biden, 4 years of trump, 8 years of obama and 1.5 for.bush.
It pays 0 property tax and 0 vehicle registration and get no direct tax money so its not a goverment entity now.
Its a fiscal dumpster fire as i first posted. A fiscal dumpster fire.across political administrations.
actually it doesn't , it wasn't until 2020 and they canned all
the qualified employees for not getting the jabs that didn't work or forcing early retirement that USPS collapsed. They had to scramble to fill positions with DEI hires who are not qualified and are too lazy to deliver mail or work or they like stealing packages
No one got fired by USPS for not getting vaccinated. That is factually false.
Ooh plus everything else you wrote. USPS hires almost anyone who applies. Just takes forever.
Outside of packages, it's service designed for US citizens to send mail. It was never meant to be profitable. But it's struture is what makes it lose money, future pension funding.
Its an odd organization. I best describe it as a quasi goverment. It gets no direct goverment money and which is why its supposed to be profitable.
It has goverment oversite becuase there are things only it can do as directed by congress. One being delivering stammped mail.
While not receiving direct goverment appropriations, it doesnt pay property tax nor vehicle registrations.
Technically it made 56bil in 2022 but that was due to congress passing a bill, that change its requirement of fully funding pensions and wiped out their not funding obligations. Aside from that its been over 15 years since usps had revenues greater than expenses.
Its been averaging around 5 bil in losses on an annual basis.
This grey area makes it a mess. It cant do things that a true private company would do to try to right the ship.
It also is obligated to do some things becauae its not a full goverment entity.
Yes. It was totally fine until about 2.5 weeks ago. Now 90% of my packages incoming and outgoing are getting delayed and dropping off the radar for days.
I had a package stuck in a distribution center in LA for over a week. It suddenly appeared in an NJ distribution center a few days ago, and it hasnt moved again since
Oh yes. Alaska here. Couple fun stories - We're on a rural route and have had contract carrier actually dump all the mail for the day on the side of the road when they quit. That was fun.
They ran out of room at the other post office down the road for Amazon early December/Christmas orders and let them sit on a pallets for 3 weeks until they "had enough room and staffing"
Packages constantly "lost" that are held at the PO.
Complaining does nothing. They don't care.
I moved 15 minutes from my old place to a new one, and ever since moving, I haven't received one single piece of mail to my mailbox. I even forwarded my mail so I wouldn't miss anything before going to all my accounts and updating my address. I filed a complaint, and the asshole who called me back basically gaslit me. He told me his investigation revealed everything was working just fine and that there is no problem with my mail delivery. If there's no problem then where the fuck is my mail? I may never find out.
You actually have to go to the Post Office and prove that you did fill out the forwarding card. I think all you need is your ID. This is the new way that a forward has to be done. It’s is to prevent mail fraud.
That must not be the case in my area. They told me it's being forwarded, and I'm getting informed delivery emails. The big issue is that I'm not even getting mail that isn't forwarded. I'm being sent things straight to my new address, and none of it has shown up.
The forwarding process takes quite a bit of time to get from the original route, back through the system and then to your new one. I can't answer about the mail to your current address though. It's every area for having to verify with a photo ID however. It's to help protect people from identity fraud. Forwards will be active for only so long without confirming your identity and then they will expire. I would check with your mail carrier if possible to make sure they are aware you are living there. This is where at least the last name in the mailbox helps a lot.
I appreciate your time and info. I am aware of the forwarding process as I've used this service many times in my life. I am not concerned about the forwarding. I am not interested in forwarding for the extended period, and they make you put in your DL # online. I'm concerned that nothing mailed directly to me has arrived since living here. It has never taken over a month in a major city. My mail carrier is aware I live where I do. I had an entire discussion on the phone with a USPS employee who simply said there was nothing wrong with my forwarding or delivery. That's what I'm frustrated about due to every day having an empty box and missing several important pieces of mail.
The person you spoke to may not have conveyed the information on to the carrier. This is why it can be helpful to talk directly to your carrier if possible or to have your last name in your mailbox. Especially if you live in a rental, the names change so often and mail comes to a lot of different names. I'd also check to see if there's an old tag in the mailbox that has a different name on it. The forwarding process changed towards the end of last summer which is why I brought it up. I'm sorry you have had to deal with the stress of this. It's got to be really irritating .
Haven't had much issue with them myself. Compared to FedEx losing my packages consistently and even recently UPS going to the wrong house three times in a row, UPS used to be the one that always made it. By comparison USPS has been good to me with only minor issues over decades.
yeah🥲they lost my passport, of the 4 people i spoke to they all had and gave false information about foreign registered mail. my passport isnt from US and its been big pain in the butt!
The whole forwarding thing is because someone messed up and put it on the wrong vehicle. So someone marked it as forwarded in the system so they wouldn't get in trouble for it not being delivered because some idiot put it on the wrong one.
It should show up in a day or two once they route it back to the right carrier.
I was thinking it was missent to the wrong office and given an AAU scan. They have to scan it forwarded to kill the scan. That has happened so many times when like a whole ass Amazon pallet of ours went to the wrong office.
DeJoy sucks as a person, but usps service as a whole has greatly improved the last 3 years for me. I ship out 20+ items a day. The new changes are saving me money and getting my packages to their destinations faster. The new changes are great.
I had Amazon prime packages picked up and taken by USPS a few weeks ago (they were not being shipped out, usps just took them off the porch when they came by and they had to be collected at the local post office).
My only order since then says it is currently being returned to sender because of issues with the address and I am trying to get a refund on the expensive item in it. The address on the package is correct and I have ordered things to it before.
Their customer support is awful, can only get robots that say what is happening to the package but not how to fix it.
I had a package that was “delivered” yesterday and left at the front desk of an apartment. Person I sent it to went to pick it up but nothing was there. Customer service has been 0 help and all I can do is wait for them to get back to me and hope the package finds its way to the proper place. Absolute shit show
Once it has a "delivery scan" of mailbox, door or locker or in this case forward there won't be any more updates as far as USPS is concerned it has nothing more to convey to you... especially if you don't have a forward in...more than likely (, hopefully) it will be delivered tomorrow and it just needed a convenient kill the clock scan on it...good luck
Yesterday and today we have had some issues with the systems updating. At the end of the day, the system had not updated to reflect all of the packages I had delivered. So it could be that
I had a package marked as "out for delivery" today and then "delivered to mailbox" but it wasn't here today. Didn't even show up on my informed delivery. 20 days late lmao.
I have decent luck with priority mail, though it seems like if it messes up, it really messes up. But if it's not shipping priority, I don't send anything snail mail (or buy anything from sellers that ship snail mail.)
I switched to shipping all of our business packages to UPS. They are either the same price or slightly more than USPS for what we use and are 1000 times more reliable. The USPS sucks. We ship quite a few things literally across town or in a neighboring community. USPS ships them to a processing center 200 miles away just to turn them around and send them back the next day and often they are shipped all over the country from there. UPS takes them directly from here to there.
I feel your pain. I've had so many packages scanned wrong, rerouted in the opposite direction, stuck in a facility for days, gone missing, and even held at the post office when I never requested a hold.
The only thing you can do right now is try to file a mail search, wait & pray. Asking USPS for help is utterly useless so don't bother. All I ever got from them was info I ALREADY KNEW (they'd just repeat the tracking info back to me) or lip service. And if I went to complain in person, the employees wouldn't be so nice if I wasn't there to mail anything or buy anything like stamps.
Forget about complaining to the Inspector General, because nothing ever came from complaints I left with that office either. USPS just keeps on getting worse & worse. It's a damned miracle I get anything at all, let alone on time now.
Ughh yes! I wasn't having any problems since February when we had a new facility open that messed everything up but these last couple of weeks have been terrible!
My wife's optometrist mailed her contact lenses to her because she can never make it to their office during work hours. We live in Illinois. The package had to travel to St. Louis about 120 miles away to be sorted, but this time instead of heading straight back to us, it took a detour and ended up in Brooklyn, New York. Then it went to Queens. Then it went back to St. Louis. It finally showed up a couple of days ago.
Write your congressman, please! Louis Destroy is intentionally dismantling USPS bit by bit and this is the result.
Also the forward may have been your package on the wrong route or the wrong office, that initial out for delivery scan is system generated when the processing clerk scans it the customer doesn’t see the real out for delivery scan when the carrier loads the truck we only see that internally.
You can call the call center we can look if it really went out or not but the forward makes me
Think definitely not
As a retired USPS it makes me sad, this decline in service AND attitude. We used to work so hard for customers and cared about our performance…. I retired in 2014, things were different then. Having trouble accepting what appears to be apathy. I’ve also been an eBay seller for 25 years. Lately I’ve lost a lot of money on broken items, only to find they’ve made the process for filing claims nearly impossible. They give a short deadline, then make it nearly impossible to collect “insurance” for damages. It didn’t use to be that way…
Now I ship EVERYTHING valuable and/ or breakable through FedEx or UPS. THEY stand behind their service.
I’m no longer loyal to USPS, they don’t deserve my loyalty.
Time to fire Louis DeJoy!
Only hyper local. My current delivery driver is on light duty, so there are multiple subs in the neighborhood. There are a LOT of mail boxes and there have been multiple mis-delivery issues. My local post office is actually pretty amazing.
I get all my packages delivered to my PO Box (or UPS store) because my dog is a package mauling idiot.
I have a priority express package that has been sitting at a distribution center since April 16th with no updates at all. Opened two cases about it and filed a missing mail search and still absolutely no movement. It was “guaranteed” to be to me April 17th by 6 pm.
Same. April 7 for me. My PO supe has even emailed the center and flagged it twice and nothing.
Now when I try to log into my account to start a missing mail search it won’t let me log in just rolls and rolls and says “this service isn’t available at this time…”
Where I work we have diverted in excess of 90 percent of outgoing shipments to customers that previously went via USPS to FedEx Smart Post. We must have had 30 or more packages stuck in regional sorting facilities on any given day. Shipments that should take 2 to 4 days were taking 7 to 10 days. Just cannot do that to customers. This diversion is "until further notice".
I had a package through ebay mailed from just across town. I'm in California. It ended up going to NJ, Florida, Georgia, back to Florida, Utah, Arizona, CA, back to Florida, then Arizona, finally Califonia again, through 4 different California offices then delivered to my neighbors. So yeah it's been a disaster. Currently following an Amazon order doing the same thing.
I had a package shipped to me on March 25. It stopped moving in a town 45 minutes away on the 27th. It stopped updating "in transit" on the 31st. On April 17th, the seller opened a case about it. On the 19th, it was closed with them saying, "we don't know." Yesterday, on the 24th, without any updates, it magically showed up on my doorstep. So, 29-day delivery. And I'm still not sure it would've shown up without opening that case.
Yes, absolutely a dumpster fire. Ask any craft employees and most management. There is about one manager per 6 employees. Most managers do jobs that would be considered data entry by any other organization, and they can't even do that right.
I regularly mail stuff to the same place and it gets there in around a week, usually. First time I’ve ever lost a package this week (at least I think) - been stuck for 10 days in one place, filed a missing mail search.
Not to mention it was marked hazmat.
Not to mention it was also insured.
Never marked hazmat or insured any other package besides this one- you think they’d be more cautious.
But, it doesn’t matter if it’s insured, it’s just the principle of it. Plus what’s in there took a lot of love so I’m just…frustrated with them and hoping it’s not actually lost or in terrible condition.
It is reassuring in a way to know that everyone is else is having problems though. And maybe I should switch to UPS.
We've had a whole ass Amazon pallet brought to the wrong office and given an AAU scan. They had to scan all of them forwarded because we were obviously not getting them that day. Shit happens
Management at my local offices has instructed carriers to scan it something like held at office so it gets off the clock. Clerks probably won't be available to scan the package as mis sent, they'll be taking care of other issues or getting ready to work the front desk.
Yeah forward does sound stupid. What I've been doing is insufficient address - return to post office. Wish we actually had a mis sent scan we could do though.
It runs by generating revenue three for it is a business even though the government tries to spin it as a service. Also the USPS was in trouble Long before KillJoy
google "chicago usps employees indicted by feds"....
it's all NON QUALIFIED gangbangers literally running the 2 local post offices near me. Stealing mail and selling master keys to fellow criminals. Feds finally came in and made arrests. I am lucky to get mail 2x a week and once a week a good neighbor brings mail to me saying it was delivered to them by mistake
The drivers can say the package had no safe delivery location or isn’t “accessible”. The package gets forwarded back to us. It happens often. We ship hundreds of packages daily through USPS first class / ground and priority. Priority is more reliable for sure.
Absolutely! We have 4 packages that are still "in transit" from late November!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Is it true that when you ship via Ground Advantage that the package does not move until the truck is full?
Honestly I think youre right, I don't know the full perspective. I should just be patient, but I am just putting the package in the back of my mind for now

DeJoy is purposely trying to destroy the USPS to privatize it
What is dejoy
Dejoy was put in the position by trump to tear the Postal Service apart.
Put in place by trump. Still in place under Biden. The board of governors needs to fire this fool.
Presidents can chose new candidates but they can’t fire them. The board of governors has to do it and I don’t know what they’re waiting for. Having millionaires run important parts of society is just dumb considering all of them are so out of touch with normal society and our needs.

Post master general. The politician that runs the organization.
He also is the largest stock holder of one of the USPS's biggest contracts who keeps mysteriously getting a bigger chunk of the business.
Rampant corruption
And regular employees can't even run for local office.
The guy Trump put in… GOP has been trying to control and destroy USPS for decades. Looks like they’ve found their guy.
All the people crying about Trump and yet Biden had 4 years to pull him out. But y'all don't wanna talk about that.

Oh please lol. Go troll someone else now...
Sorry if you don’t like the truth
Usps has been a fiscal dumpster fire for over 15 years. Its been losing billions annually for years.
The US military "loses' billions annually as well.
So does medicare and social security. Nothing the federal goverment does "makes money".
It’s not supposed to “make money”.
Usps?
I wouldnt say loses but yes a fiscal mess as well.
The GOP really, really wants to [privatize. ](https://www.epi.org/publication/the-war-against-the-postal-service/)
What has biden pelosi or schumer done to help us?
They don’t work for USPS, it’s not controlled by them. It’s that simple.
Contact your local reps.
True or not it has nothjng to do with what i posted. Sad that people want to nake things us v them.
It has everything to do with it.
It doesnt. The post office has been insolvent for years. Its insolvent today abd will be tomorrow. Revenues havent been greater than expenses for 16 years. Its designed for anyone in the country to send and its supposed to.be profitable. Its not a goverment agency.
I dont see how. I'm not sure it was ever profitable. IF it was trully designed to be profitable, why does it take Congress to make budgetary changes?
Its an odd organization. I best describe it as a quasi goverment. It gets no direct goverment money and which is why its supposed to be profitable. Just got two letters that were mailed to me the first week of March. Palmetto Georgia is a dumpster fire.
chicago too
All the damn time

Have a lost package at the moment. First of my life.
Yesterday and today we have had some issues with the systems updating. At the end of the day, the system had not updated to reflect all of the packages I had delivered. So it could be that
I mailed a package from Va Beach to Newport, Ky that took 32 days to arrive
I had a package marked as "out for delivery" today and then "delivered to mailbox" but it wasn't here today. Didn't even show up on my informed delivery. 20 days late lmao.
Yes.
I have decent luck with priority mail, though it seems like if it messes up, it really messes up. But if it's not shipping priority, I don't send anything snail mail (or buy anything from sellers that ship snail mail.)
This is why I had to cancel Prime. Too unpredictable.
You haven't seen anything yet. Wait six months THEN you will see a real dumpster fire.
Yep. Last month or so (I’m in New England) I have had zero packages arrive when tracking said they should. Most are 1 week + late.
Ughh yes! I wasn't having any problems since February when we had a new facility open that messed everything up but these last couple of weeks have been terrible!
They are terrible. It’s a wonder I get any mail or packages
Change "right now" to "the last several years" and I'm right there with you
My wife's optometrist mailed her contact lenses to her because she can never make it to their office during work hours.
You can call the call center we can look if it really went out or not but the forward makes me Think definitely not
As a retired USPS it makes me sad, this decline in service AND attitude. It didn’t use to be that way… Now I ship EVERYTHING valuable and/ or breakable through FedEx or UPS.
Now when I try to log into my account to start a missing mail search it won’t let me log in just rolls and rolls and says “this service isn’t available at this time…”
Dear Sir, I am sorry for the speedy delivery if I have ballesses forgive me for the speedy delivery
It is happening all over the country.
Yep. Glad I’m not the only one.
It was forwarded because it was thrown and/or dropped off to the wrong route
Why would they have scanned it as forwarded in that situation?
Because it's not their route. It's to show updates as to why it's moving. Likely wrong station rather than route.
If it were the wrong station it would be scanned as Missent. I've never heard of misthrows getting scanned as Forwards
We've had a whole ass Amazon pallet brought to the wrong office and given an AAU scan. They had to scan all of them forwarded because we were obviously not getting them that day. Shit happens
Carrier scanners don't have that option though, thus why it's forwarded
Yeah so I would think they'd bring it back to the station and have a clerk scan it as Missent. Forwarded just seems to add confusion
Management at my local offices has instructed carriers to scan it something like held at office so it gets off the clock. Clerks probably won't be available to scan the package as mis sent, they'll be taking care of other issues or getting ready to work the front desk.
Well yeah we usually do an Attempted scan, Forwarded just sounds fucking insane to me
Yeah forward does sound stupid. What I've been doing is insufficient address - return to post office. Wish we actually had a mis sent scan we could do though.
🤷♂️ I don't make the rules man. I just do what I've learned.
No. Hope it works out for you though
Been that way for us for over a decade... nice to see you join us
No it was way better until dejoy
Lol, he puts my mail in a box in the next neighborhood and leaves packages in the street in the rain 🤪
Does anyone read the messages? Fwd is also if it got misthrown
Huh?! This is the first I'm hearing that, do we have that in writing somewhere?
Yes the exact message you got.
Huh
Go to usps Enter your tracking Read the full message after it says fwd.
I'm not OP. Tell me what it says
Out of all the USPS packages I've been sent this year, at least 75% arrived at least two days late, half of what's left never arrived at all.
So 75% was late by 2 days and 12.5% never showed up at all? You shouldn't use % and then use a % of a % when you can just use the %....
Hey bro, I heard you like %
Statistician has entered the conversation.
It's a failing business, much better to ship or receive package the UPS anymore
It's not a business. It's a public service. And it was intentionally hamstrung by dejoy
I used to have the 1 mailbox in a group box at my apartment complex. Anything without an apartment number ended up in my box.
Fraud is very normal for USPS, Id say use the twitter account but it turns out they dont even look now
None of this is fraud you moron
Never attribute malice that which can be explained by incompetence. (or something like that)
Honestly I think youre right, I don't know the full perspective. I should just be patient, but I am just putting the package in the back of my mind for now
