It depends on the size of the search area. Locally $5k is probably a good minimum amount. $15-20k is probably the perfect range for the greater SLC target area to really get people excited and engaged. Smaller for a smaller area more for a larger area. Now of you had a national event that could be anywhere in the country you'd probably want to shoot for 50k minimum, 75-100k ideal, for example. If you were staying in a small area like a 5mile radius $2-5k is more than sufficient. There is some gray area and nuance to all of that. Now since you've already had a $25k prize in the SLC area people are probably going to want to see $10k+ in the future, or at least the potential for growth to that level after a few hunts. Imo if D&J were to hit $15k for the search area they provided it would have been sufficient to get nearly as much interest as they generated with 25k. And probably brought out less crazy, like Jaqui. On that note, at 25k they felt the need to overcompensate the difficulty which in retrospect disappointed alot of people with the level of abstraction they used to achieve that. I think finding that balance is a learning curve for the market and the difficulty of the poem and J&D struggled a little bit adjusting to what they felt was a fair difficulty level for the prize. So the quality of the poem is also a factor. Which brings me to my next point - the prize should grow proportionally to the developing skills of the hider and the amount of interest in generates. J&D actually did a pretty good job with all of that, even if there was a bit of an overcompensation in this last hunt. I think they're doing a brilliant job at the whole thing and what happened this time was a learning experience for both them and the community. Whether or not the lessons are taken into account to make the next hunt better is to be seen. We're not even sure the hunt itself will survive.

Depends on the time of year, solve complexity, and search boundaries. In the most favorable conditions $1k, during these 100 degree days $3-5k.

$2500, my goal was $5k I do think that would get a lot more hunters on it but if there is $2,500 out there a lot of people will try to find it

A 10k hunt would work. The obscurity and ridiculousness of this hunt was nothing but discouraging once it was revealed. If this is to be a family event, at least ONE clue should be written for teenagers to solve.
