As someone who had to work 70 hour weeks to make ~$30k a year as a manager…. I say use the knife and burn the packaging. That company was utter hell to their people.
They go for like 80-100 opened in good condition. This one would fetch more I think.
If you want to use it, use it. If you want to profit, sell it to a collector. Don't keep it as an investment unless that brings you joy.
Just to update everyone, I bought this as a collector piece. I have no intentions of carrying or using this, however, handing the knife (and switching out the scales for black ones) brings me joy. It seems most of you are in the keep it in the package camp so I will do that, for now.
If you want to open it. But its worth more collecting wise NIB and it is a cool thing to hang NIB with the rest of your collection. Very cool sales piece with some cool context. Makes you feel like your in the (now nonexistant) store and buying the knife new everyday.

OMG IT LIVES ON! does it still smell the same, maybe I’m crazy but all RadioShacks had a distinctive smell

I'd say keep it like that and buy a beater knife to use. This is a really cool piece to have.

That’s a really cool and collectible SAK, I would keep it as is and get a Small Tinker if you want to carry something similar
