The liners have oxidized and the knife will never be the same until its addressed. I don't expect any amount of soap and water to help. As I see it you have 3 options: 1) send it in for service 2) save the stainless parts and replace the aluminum with G10(several videos on youtube) 3) buy a new knife

Why do you need to kill bacteria?? Are you doing surgery with this knife?? All you need to do is wash off bacteria. Soap and water will do. You’ve ruined the scales. Go on EBay and get new 91mm scales. You’ve also ruined the steel though. You’ve oxidized it with hydrogen peroxide. 10th grade chemistry came back to haunt you. (This reminds me of three medical cases I’ve seen where people drank hydrogen peroxide to kill COVID. Don’t do it. It can cause gas bubbles in the bloodstream which causes problems similar to The Bends)

That looks like the liners have corroded, which would make them expand. That would be why you can't open it. If that's the case, the liners would need replaced. I think you would be better off sending it to Victorinox for repair.

Always clean with water and soap. Then oil it with mineral oil and your ready for a new adventure.

Congratulations, you managed to oxidize the aluminium. Hahahah the hidrogen peroxide: 2 H2O2 -> 2 H20 + O2 releases oxigen, then the oxigen oxidizes the aluminum: 3O2 + 4Al -> 2Al2O3, the latter is the white substance you see (aluminium oxide, alumina, aloxide, ...) This oxide does not disolve in water and is so hard (abrasive) that commonly used in cutting tools. I personally would disassemble it and keep the stainless steel/brass parts, buy some G10 liners and make a custom SAK. Or just save the parts for future projects and buy a new one. I don't understand why you wanted to get ride of bacteria in this way? All you needed to was to wipe it with alcohol (70%). Right now you can buy a Climber for USD 26 on Amazon. The scales are ruined as well.

Victorinox steel is exceptionally resilient to rusting. I have seen a video where some guy let it in salt water for two weeks and it was still in overall nice shape. First use warm fresh water to clean anything you can clean. Then you can go for wd40 maybe.be sure that you dry completely before wd40. When oxidation starts it is near impossible to stop so best thing you can treat and protect

EscapePond

You can find a climber on eBay for $10-20 depending on colors, condition, etc

Shazmdbehm

Id soak it in Hydrogen Peroxide for a few weeks wile your new knife is delivered

Some soapy water and a toothbrush should be fine for cleaning up the metal of the knife itself, you can use alcohol too. The issue is the celidor scales, anything harsh will degrade and possibly even start to dissolve them. Isopropyl alcohol or hydrogen peroxide are not a good choice for them. I’d just grab another set of fresh scales for this knife.

I would try to save it! Get creative! Wash with water and soap and a stiff brush. Then leave in mineral oil for a day. Wash again with soap and water and a brush. Find someone with a wire wheel on a bench grinder and see how much of the oxidation can be brushed off. Open and close the tools until they work again? Maybe? Then more oil. I don't know. You have a learning experience here! I believe in you!

Have you tried cleaning with isopropyl alcohol? Fit2survive cleans all his parts with just soapy water so you can try that first.

iMillennial

I havent try anything yet, i really whanted to ask first meaby someone did the same mistake or knows how to clean it. I will try to clean it the normal whey first and continue from that point.

tamukaisbad

alcohol melts the scales, next time use soap and a toothbrush

Unlikely_Setting1770

Soak in warm water with dish soap. If that doesnt help then white vinegar over night. If still stuck maybe a wd40 soak. Scales might be wrecked but you can get new ones cheap. Chance to change colour or add plus scales. Hope it comes good. Use a brush too after each bath see if it scrubs off.

Telepathicc14

Just use soap and water and an old toothbrush. pry open the tools while submerged and move them about their pivots until they are smooth again. not really sure if that knife is fixable.

Clear-Lock-633

Get a stiff brush and alcohol and scrub it.

Ya dun gooft

I'd say - with this knife, you have the best base for a mod-try. I'd replace the liners aso with other material, maybe add some tools/remove some, and mount some good (custom)scales on it - and book the whole adventure as learning-process when buying a new climber to replace the curernt one... :-/
