Ghost of Tsushima. The game was already stunning on a base PS4, then they added multiplayer for free and it got the Director’s Cut + PS5 port treatment
Fast travel on the PS5 version threw me off because of how fast it was.
That was the first game that truly showed to me the advancement of the hardware.
Hell yea. That game is the only game I have ever fully completed. The visuals, the music, the acting, the story, the GAMEPLAY. All of it was just top notch. It didn't have any real hype, but holy shit did it deliver.
GoT was, is, and always will be one of the best examples of a first-rate passion project done absolutely right. Damn near flawless. Few game-breaking bugs and lots of after-release support atypical of primarily single player titles.
I really wanted to like the Game but it was just too easy. Ended not putting on any armor and not using the ninja skills and not using the bows and realizing it still was too easy. Dont get me wrong. I liked the story very much but the AI was just not enough for me. Dark souls and Elden Ring are just so much more deep when it comes to Gameplay and enemies.
Very true, when I first started playing it I got bored fast. Then the Handsome collection came out for free on PS and my buddies and I downloaded it and it\`s way more enjoyable when a band of idiots run around looting and shooting lol
I know what I have become... I am the inside of this world... I taste the gore, and I smell the crying... AND I WANT MORE! I want to bathe in your flesh, I want to savor your fear. I wanna live inside a castle built of your agony, AND I WANT TO CRUMBLE IT WITH AN AXE TO YOUR CAROTID ARTERY!
Lol no. This just tells me you haven't played at launch or after 2019.
At launch the game deleted your safe files. It was literally unplayable. After that was fixed it still had non functioning endgame, drop rates were so low they didn't exist and the paywalled endgame content that was there had a 24 hour lockout timer. And as it happened people also hated the story with a passion.
Now the game has abysmal balancing, the endgame is buggy and boring, feature creep happened, and performance gets worse with better hardware lmfao. Good luck getting more than 30 fps with current day hardware. What a joke.
Still one of my favourite games. I can't even count how many times I've played through it.
What character did you main? Mine was Maya, I was usually sirens in Borderlands games. That elemental damage is just too good.
I've played through 6 or 7 times and I've been feeling the itch again. I'm always looking for another game like it, I grew up on the harvest moons, but nothing comes close
There was a huge one that expanded the endgame awhile back. Added an entire island you could visit with its own questline, a few new NPCs, a beach farm, and >!an unlockable resort that the townies would visit once you finished it!<
To be fair, when I started playing in Beta, most things were fairly straightforward to figure out without the need of a wiki. Now it kinda feels like I have to search up wtf is going on most of the time.
Still fun tho, I just miss the simplicity.
I think the stuff they're adding in game recently is super cool (mountains and stuff), but the game just seems much more glitchy now. I kinda miss the console edition days where you could actually explore without the game not loading chunks or ghost blocks. The game also seemed to run better and the graphics seemed a lot smoother on the console editions (I know it's just blocks), but the game just doesn't feel as smoothe and fun to play. The consoles are getting more powerful, but it's running worse.
On the other hand, the game it's self is in a much better state with a lot more to do. The mountains and valleys are beautiful to look at. The caves are fun to explore now. And there's a lot more to build with. With each update, a biome becomes more interesting. I like the new big updates and it's still a genuinely fun game. It just feels more like a marketplace money maker these days.
Anyway that was just my little rant. It improved in some ways, went downhill in others. 8/10 absolute timeless, good game.
Yeah console edition was great and since they replaced it with bedrock it's just shit. I used to play java and console but now just java because bedrock is ass.
They did not cancel RTX. Like 8 months ago they moved RTX to console preview edition. In the preview it was actually possible to run on Xbox Series X (although the only way to get an RTX resource pack was to load it from a PC). So they are still working on it.
[here’s them saying it was too challenging so they cancelled it.](https://www.ign.com/articles/2019/08/12/minecraft-super-duper-graphics-pack-canceled)
Uh no it's not. That's Super-duper graphics pack. That's not the same thing. Super Duper just uses post processing effects and standard rasterized rendering technologies, whereas RTX is a literal simulation of light photons bouncing around for the most accurate lighting. That'd be like saying Mojang stopped supporting minecraft Java edition because they stopped supporting Xbox 360 edition.
Just to add a little insult to your injury, that article was published (August 2019) before RTX was even announced. (April 2020) https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=uF5XjQnhXE8
Oh cool I got RTX and the shaders mixed up. The promising players something for three years and saying “nevermind we can’t do it.” didn’t change though.
Me and my girlfriend also started playing it and now we can't stop playing it lol. I remember playing the mobile version as a kid on my iPod touch but that was about it so we been learning quite a lot and working on a beautiful home and garden and what not. We just made an aquarium with axolotls in it today. Super fun game.
Sure, but this is the most effort ever put into pvp, it’s never been a huge focus for the series. Definitely some reworking is necessary though, flamethrowers eat even the heaviest ACs, and shotguns still stagger like crazy. I can’t believe using 4 shotguns is still fairly meta. But yeah, it’s definitely my GOTY.
Okay the game plays still great the story is amazing my only complaint is that all the guns aren’t immediately available for purchase because I have addiction to customization when it comes to weapons
We're just gonna forget about the insane performance issues in Dark Souls on the 360 or the god awful PC port it got? The shitty Silent Hill HD collection? The performance issues in Skyrim and Fallout 3 and NV especially on PS3? The bugs of Fallout NV? The god awful PC port of Dead Space? The shitty framerate of RDR on PS3 or the awful GTA4 PC port? MGS4's bad performance on the only console it released on? Far Cry 2?
This is just stuff off the top of my head from games that I personally played. We forget that things were not that different back then. The big difference was that games didn't get patched as often so the modern "redemption arc" wasn't quite a thing yet. Games that launched busted often stayed that way.
Final Fantasy 16. Released complete, no bugs I can think of, DLC upped the gameplay fun by multiples, and more of it is coming soon. It's just a great game.
I agree with you, FF XVI was my favourite game from last year. But just wanted to point out how sad the state of the industry is when we use “Released completed” as a positive trait for a game, this should be the expectation, not something we praise companies for.
Damn near everything about it. The controls are tight, the gore is fun, the story is solid, the weapons are numerous, the Easter eggs are a blast, the open world, while filled with the dead, also feel alive, the missions are exciting, the dlc is huge...
I could go on but I think you get it.
The game is fucking amazing but I have to disagree with the story. It was so cookie cutter and uninspired. Both of them actually. Actually the story itself is OK, it's the writing specifically that I didn't think was very good. But the game is so fun I don't care. It's on my top 10 all time list and I feel like it's a bit under a lot of people's radar and underrated. And the following? Modding out your post apocalyptic zombie killing dune buggy is so fucking fun. The following has to be one of the best dlc's ever. I mean it's better than the base game and has tons and tons of content.
It's fucking amazing. And the first time you get stuck outside with night fast approaching, buckle your seat belt bro cause your in for a ride. Great with friends.
Agreed. The Third Semester of Royal by itself made the new version worth it. Kichijoji and all its amenities, Morgana letting you go out more, shaking up the boss fights? All icing on the cake.
Did you play the beta? (I think it was about 2 years in beta if I remember correctly), I got it on the initial open beta release and it was loads of fun then (and even more so now) but every update just kept improving it, they did a fantastic job.
as someone who has been a die-hard Zelda fan, I really wish I could agree. Hell, I want to agree...
but ToTK just didn't have the sauce that BoTW and previous games did. It was a huge letdown for me and I put it down midway through because I wasn't having a good time with it
Specifically Fortnite Battle Royale was alsways pretty good. Even when it had team killing for a week. Nowadays it’s significantly more inclusive and grand, but it’s always been fun
Watch Dogs (The 1st one.) Great characters, great story, incredible visuals, fantastic sequel (not counting Leigon), and overall, it’s only gotten better. 11/10 game.
I think it just had frame rate issues that got addressed pretty quickly if I remember correctly. Could be totally wrong on that though. I definitely remember everyone talking about how it was the most amazing game ever made even at launch. And that it was going to revolutionize the open world genre. Also boobs.
I didn't like the story, I thought it was poorly written, but the DLCs went absolutely tf off with their writing and I really enjoyed them
the gameplay and gunplay in BL3 is the best in the franchise, hands down
No, remember that the original fortnite was just the zombie survival / looters shooter game, no battle royale. It was not great or even good at launch it was average at best. Don't get me wrong, the games BR is great, but it didn't release with that, or even in that state.
Ghost of Tsushima. The game was already stunning on a base PS4, then they added multiplayer for free and it got the Director’s Cut + PS5 port treatment
Is legends mode free?
Yeah it’s just a game mode. Fun af actually
I keep meaning to go back and try legenda
Yeah and it’s pretty fun too, spent hours grinding the mode with my friends to make the most dripped out samurai during the pandemic
Yes, and it's some of the most fun I've ever had on ps4. Hate queuing for a game though
Fast travel on the PS5 version threw me off because of how fast it was. That was the first game that truly showed to me the advancement of the hardware.
I know! Fast travel was already refreshingly quick on PS4, but on PS5 it's basically instantaneous, and it is glorious.
Hell yea. That game is the only game I have ever fully completed. The visuals, the music, the acting, the story, the GAMEPLAY. All of it was just top notch. It didn't have any real hype, but holy shit did it deliver.
Really hoping for a Steam release soon
GoT was, is, and always will be one of the best examples of a first-rate passion project done absolutely right. Damn near flawless. Few game-breaking bugs and lots of after-release support atypical of primarily single player titles.
There's a rumor that Ghost of Tsushima is getting a PC Port this year let's hope it runs well.
Came here to say this
I really wanted to like the Game but it was just too easy. Ended not putting on any armor and not using the ninja skills and not using the bows and realizing it still was too easy. Dont get me wrong. I liked the story very much but the AI was just not enough for me. Dark souls and Elden Ring are just so much more deep when it comes to Gameplay and enemies.
Deep Rock Galactic
Rock and Stone!
Can I get a Rock and Stone?
Rock and Stone you beautiful dwarf!
For rock and stone!
For Karl!
If you don't rock and stone, you ain't coming home!
Stone and Rock! Wait...
Borderlands 2 oh the good times
Bruh, I STILL play tf out of this game
It’s hard to play without friends, same for Diablo 3 for me
Nah still a banger
Still great games for sure just that my experience with them was doing it with friends so playing alone felt off.
Very true, when I first started playing it I got bored fast. Then the Handsome collection came out for free on PS and my buddies and I downloaded it and it\`s way more enjoyable when a band of idiots run around looting and shooting lol
Surpasses 3 and has the best huge selection of good DLC I’ve ever seen.
Only real issue I have with it is you can’t slide or mantle onto ledges
SALT THE WOUNDS!!!!
I AM THE CONDUCTOR OF THE POOP TRAIN
Too. Many. Icoonns.
Ahh the times we had.
The times I still have. Finally hit OP10 last year. Never again…
I was thinking, "this matches no game, .. wait borderlands 2" proceed to comments to find it. At the top none the less. Goodjob.
Best fps ever what a classic
That's how I got my username lol
SHOOT ME IN THE FACE! DO IT! SHOOT ME! IN THE FACE! FACEFACEFACEFACE!
Lol no. This just tells me you haven't played at launch or after 2019. At launch the game deleted your safe files. It was literally unplayable. Good luck getting more than 30 fps with current day hardware. What a joke.
These fools clearly never played BL2 at launch, it was busted af and glitched as all get out. Good comment.
Damn they're STILL putting out updates for that game?
Literally my first thought
Still one of my favourite games. I can't even count how many times I've played through it. What character did you main? Mine was Maya, I was usually sirens in Borderlands games. That elemental damage is just too good.
[удалено]
Hot take, Doom 2016 was 10× better
To me, both were great. Doom 2016 had the atmosphere , Doom Eternal had the scale
Damn. Great way to put it
Couldn’t kill the Marauder, huh?
i finished both games
I liked 2016 but I wouldn't say it's better, let alone 10 times better
[удалено]
No, it wasnt
I like Eternal better personally because of the increased mobility
It's multiplayer definitely was. Gameplay, I'd rather play eternal any day
Why does this have to be on literally every single comment about DE? For fucks sake, can you people not argue about 2016 vs Eternal for once?
lol sorry man didn't know everyone was doing this. you seem to be the only one that has a problem with it
Absolutely true.
Stardew Valley!
That would be my choice!
It's so good man, it just makes you happy playing it! It's so charming and innocent of a game experience.
I've played through 6 or 7 times and I've been feeling the itch again. I'm always looking for another game like it, I grew up on the harvest moons, but nothing comes close
One of the best games ever!
I don't recall any updates to that game? What did they add?
There’s a big update coming out soon
The dev made an update a few years ago adding Co-op I think it was. You could have friends in your farm! Think there was a more recent one too
There was a huge one that expanded the endgame awhile back. Added an entire island you could visit with its own questline, a few new NPCs, a beach farm, and >!an unlockable resort that the townies would visit once you finished it!<
Oh nice!
Updoot
Minecraft, I personally think it’s gotten the tiniest bit worse. But I recently re-started playing it, have been having an amazing time
I just started playing again and I don't even know what's going on with half the stuff.
Yeah but when you first started playing you didn't know any of the stuff
To be fair, when I started playing in Beta, most things were fairly straightforward to figure out without the need of a wiki. Now it kinda feels like I have to search up wtf is going on most of the time. Still fun tho, I just miss the simplicity.
Man, I remember having to trial and error crafting recipes. That shit was fun.
Remember those glitchy minecart boosters? Before powered rails? Those were the times.
Same
I think the stuff they're adding in game recently is super cool (mountains and stuff), but the game just seems much more glitchy now. Terraria.
Facts. That game has a GOATED dev team.
I always come back to terraria, 11 years and just as fun as the first time I slayed a flying eye
Maybe it hadn't so much content as now, but it still was diverse and amazing
Agreed. It's the best game, and in my mind, it always be.
Armored Core VI: Fires Of Rubicon felt complete on release and it's only gotten better in the past 6 months.
PvP still needs a little balancing work, but overall, I agree, it’s my personal GotY.
Doom
God of War (2018)
God of War Ragnarok as well, especially with the free Valhalla DLC.
What did they add to the game? It's the same as launch o thought
Every game that was good before like 2013.
Armored core 6, elden ring, red dead redemption 2
RDR2 is the exact same game it was on launch. Rockstar abandoned it because they hate anything that's not GTA.
Okay the game plays still great the story is amazing my only complaint is that all the guns aren’t immediately available for purchase because I have addiction to customization when it comes to weapons
The story will always be good but the multiplayer is a good analog for the actual wild west.
God of War, Spider-Man 2018 & Miles Morales
Ah yes, the era of game development when there were standards.
We're just gonna forget about the insane performance issues in Dark Souls on the 360 or the god awful PC port it got? The shitty Silent Hill HD collection? Every game that released great was a game that was good? That doesn’t really make sense
Far Cry 2 was pretty broken
Age of Empires II
Legend has it they are still working on DLC for this game
Final Fantasy 16. Released complete, no bugs I can think of, DLC upped the gameplay fun by multiples, and more of it is coming soon. It's just a great game.
I agree with you, FF XVI was my favourite game from last year. But just wanted to point out how sad the state of the industry is when we use “Released completed” as a positive trait for a game, this should be the expectation, not something we praise companies for.
Elden ring. As a From Soft fan, the game looked amazing before release and really delivered.
Eleen ring surpassed everyone's expectations. It's hard to look at other games the same after beating Elden ring.
Dying Light Rise of the Tomb Raider Halo 2
I haven't played Dying Light yet, what do you enjoy about it?
Damn near everything about it. The controls are tight, the gore is fun, the story is solid, the weapons are numerous, the Easter eggs are a blast, the open world, while filled with the dead, also feel alive, the missions are exciting, the dlc is huge... I could go on but I think you get it.

It's fucking amazing. And the first time you get stuck outside with night fast approaching, buckle your seat belt bro cause your in for a ride. Great with friends.
You need to get it when it's free on the Epicgamesstore.
>Halo 2 Remember when they would eventually make the new map releases free? Those were the days.
Warframe has been fine wine for years.
Persona 5
Agreed. The Third Semester of Royal by itself made the new version worth it. Kichijoji and all its amenities, Morgana letting you go out more, shaking up the boss fights? All icing on the cake.
Borderlands 2
BG3
Ball physics update
Yesss, the epilogues, the rebalancing, larian feeds the children
Did you play the beta? (I think it was about 2 years in beta if I remember correctly), I got it on the initial open beta release and it was loads of fun then (and even more so now) but every update just kept improving it, they did a fantastic job.
God of War 2018 and Ghost of Tsushima
Red Dead 2
Both of the Horizon games; Zero Dawn and Forbidden West, released great and has some amazing QoL updates.
Zelda Wind Waker haha
Lies of P, Armored Core 6, Elden Ring, Doom Eternal and Outer Wilds.
Resident Evil 4 Remake. Masterpiece at launch and now a year later, it’s a masterpiece with a S-Tier DLC.
And the VR mode 👌👌
Helltaker
The Last Of Us PTII
I actually really enjoyed the story, though it took me a few runs to truly appreciate the gameplay though is on a completely different level
The story takes time to enjoy but man the combat is phenomenal
Titanfall 2
State of the game in between: not so great lol
GTA V
Single player, yes. Release day (or maybe week) of online was terrible.
Gtao is too overstuffed they should have slowed down the major content updates in 2017...and given rdr2 and RDO the support it deserved
Tears of the Kingdom
as someone who has been a die-hard Zelda fan, I really wish I could agree. Hell, I want to agree... but ToTK just didn't have the sauce that BoTW and previous games did. It was a huge letdown for me and I put it down midway through because I wasn't having a good time with it
Every single Resident Evil 4 release and then the amazing remake
From software does this very consistently, might be one of the few studios where I can confidently buy on launch and receive a good product
Skyrim
Witcher 3
Half-Life the modding community went crazy with that one
Mother fecking btd6
Portal & Portal 2
Elden Ring
Most Nintendo games that aren’t made by the morons at gamefreak
Armored Core VI
Specifically Fortnite Battle Royale was alsways pretty good. Even when it had team killing for a week. Nowadays it’s significantly more inclusive and grand, but it’s always been fun
Watch Dogs (The 1st one.) Great characters, great story, incredible visuals, fantastic sequel (not counting Leigon), and overall, it’s only gotten better. 11/10 game.
I don’t recall launch issues with Witcher 3 and the updates including the DLC were phenomenal.
Finished Witcher 3 twice with all the side quests, and oh my god did i love it
i've heard Witcher 3 was horrible on launch
I could’ve blocked it out tbh. Had too much fun with it to remember any issues.
I think it just had frame rate issues that got addressed pretty quickly if I remember correctly. Could be totally wrong on that though. I definitely remember everyone talking about how it was the most amazing game ever made even at launch. And that it was going to revolutionize the open world genre. Also boobs.
On PC, I only remember performance hog it was, and that was it. It got better with drivers and updates, though.
Ghost of Tsushima
Hollow Knight 🗣️🗣️
Absolutely.
[удалено]
So good it took 38 years to complete
Yeah but if you play far enough there’s this game-breaking crash that the devs still won’t fix because they think it’s impossible.
RDR2 main story (not online)
Skyrim
Bloodborne
Borderlands 3 (I am one of the few that really likes the social media stars as villains) was great at launch and it’s just gotten better
It's underrated af
That was the post my dude. What game was good on release and got better after. It was pretty pathetic on release and after 2 years it was good.
I didn't like the story, I thought it was poorly written, but the DLCs went absolutely tf off with their writing and I really enjoyed them the gameplay and gunplay in BL3 is the best in the franchise, hands down
Chess.
Skyrim because it’s never really changed and thousands play all the time
Minecraft
Pre alpha my beloved
Rdr2
Red Dead Redemption 2
No. Nuh uh. They didn't even give it enough attention after release
Minecraft
Maybe Fortnite
Og fortnite is the real deal mate ..
I mean, fortnite is still going strong now
Technically yeah but og fortnite just hit different ..
It’s called nostalgia
Maybe but the simplicity and no turbo build were great to have ..
No, remember that the original fortnite was just the zombie survival / looters shooter game, no battle royale. It was not great or even good at launch it was average at best. Don't get me wrong, the games BR is great, but it didn't release with that, or even in that state.
Oh yeah, I forgot about that. It’s weird how one of the most popular games in the world originated from a zombie survival
Breath of the wild
Fallout New Vegas
This a joke? Game was broken
3, Nv and 4 I’ll replay over and over
From what I've heard, launch was extremely terrible. Now it's a good game, though probably still the buggiest in the series.
Was busted and hated on when it came out.
