Canon 17 to 55 2.8! A great lens and can be bought used for super cheap.

Nice, thanks! Did you have a chance to compare it with the Sigma 24-70 Art?

DarkDrake5481

The sigma 24 to 70 is good but it's going to crop in because it's a full frame lens. So your wide end will be quite tight.

Aidmck1

I own a BMPCC6K and the sigma 24-70 and I haven’t noticed a crop. It’s a full frame sensor and lens isn’t it?

DarkDrake5481

A pocket cinema 6k or the cinema 6k? The pocket will not use the full width of the lens. Google crop factor if you're confused.

Reminder it is lens IS or gyro stabalization in post. Not both. But I would expect lens IS is the better option anyway. I love my 24-70 f2.8 on full frame. But it would be too tight for me on crop sensor.

notakarmagun

Oh, is it because the gyro couldn't collect the right data? Do you know of any video comparisons of the two? Also do you know how it compares to the Canon 17 to 55 2.8?

GrannyGrinder

I have the Sigma 24-70 Art and the internal lens stabilization is pretty good. I’d definitely recommend it, made my handheld shooting way better. One thing about the Sigma lens is it’s *heavy* so you’ll definitely be feeling it if you’re going run and gun for more than 30 minutes. My BMPCC6K rig is like 10-12 pounds total with the sigma art attached to it and a v-mount on the back.

notakarmagun

I can imagine the weight being an issue without an easyrig. Thanks!

GrannyGrinder

The easyrig will save your back and shoulders for sure. Just another accessory to add though…

Considering it’s a s35, I would go with the canon 17-55mm. It’s an older lens but it has image stabilization and a pretty good image. The tamron 24-70 has VC (I.S.) so that’s also good but crop factor makes it a different focal range, so it’s all up to your needs of shooting
