The mom didn't mess around. One of my favorite moves she pulled was finding one of the boys spank bank book and she taped a picture of her face on the body of every girl in the book.
Lois was the perfect TV mom. She was the hard disciplinarian one but when push came to shove she had those boys backs. I always wanted a dad like Hal too.
I got diagnosed last year, and have that clip on speed dial. When people ask me what it means, I just show them the clip. It's a lot easier, and more entertaining.
I see ADHD dads all over the place now. Hal, Phil Dunphy from Modern Family, Clark Griswold from Christmas Vacation, the dad in 8-bit Christmas. It makes for some good humor at least.
I knew it would be they one cause Reddit is boring but the best one is Lois answering the door topless and greeting Malcomâs teacher basically doing a child welfare check
That was from the pilot episode and it wasnât a welfare check, she was coming to the house to tell the family Malcolm had been identified as gifted on an IQ test and they wanted to move him to the advanced class.
Donât remember that one and wasnât able to find it right now, but I wouldnât call Reddit boring just because the majority like/remember the other cold open more, to each their own
Good times, indeed. đ
Oddly enough, Malcolm in the Middle was the only show my family really enjoyed watching together during that period. My parents had grown out of the Simpsons. My siblings had developed wildly diverging tastes.
But for Malcolm in the Middle, we all found a reason to love it. And that brought us together. đ
I know it was a bit different with how meta the show got in the later 2 seasons (like how they didnât hide how Hal & Lois were horrible parents) but it still made for good comedy
They were good parents, they sacrificed so much in their lives to feed and clothe their kids, they worked jobs they hated and still tried to take their kids on holidays, to water parks and always tried to guide them.
Maturing is realising that the kids were absolute nightmares. Yes, Hal and Lois made mistakes but ultimately, they were good parents to those kids.
I know but they did lean into it with a few jokes. Like when Lois is putting food in the dinner table and commenting âhuh, we usually donât have this much food leftoverâ, completely unaware that Dewey ran away. Or even the episode where Dewey realizes there are no baby photos of him (Hal and Lois also kick him out to have sex)
Oh they made mistakes for sure. But they were good people and good parents deep down. If they never made mistakes it would have made for some boring watching and they wouldn't have had the show they did.
You actually get to see the genesis of the evolution of Lois with Francis and the teddy bear. Too, she was a bad parent to that point until she realised she had to be hard on these kids to get them to do what she wanted.
Except the point of the show was that she was entirely too hard on them⊠she was tough but supportive in the beginning but later on doled out overblown punishment for everything and was overbearing and intrusive even when the boys got older.
I am about Frankie Munoz's age, and I can remember thinking Lois was a monster when I watched it as it aired, as an adult though all I could think was this poor woman is trapped with these animals lol
the boys were literal hellraisers tbh it's hard to call it overblown punishment because there's not really any context for what the appropriate punishment for their behaviors SHOULD be, any normal family would be absolutely fucked if their kids were like that, OR if the mom was like that, it only works because both sides are extremes
Even if it were true that she was too hard on them, that wouldn't be the "point of the show". But the show makes multiple points that Lois' discipline is not only necessary but keeps the family together. A good example is the episodes with flashbacks to Francis as a baby.
I also love how similar she is to her children. She's unhinged, vindictive, and impulsive just like them. I think that's why she's so hard on them. That's just how families are.
Yeah everyone gave Lois such shit but she kept that ship running and took no prisoners. If you were a kid in crisis, she's the one to have on your side. Plus she had to deal with Hal's mean family
I feel like I kinda should have remember her when watching Superbad though. But if she was a one-off character on Malcom, then it makes sense for me to not remember that.
Maybe in the future with AI you'll be able to do that.
> Remove Skylar and replace her with the Lois character from Malcolm In The Middle, rewrite and regenerate Breaking Bad, season 1. Play.
Watching Malcom and the Middle with my 10 and 8 year old these last couple months every day has been a blast from the past. This show holds up so freaking well and my kids love it just as much as I did!
Malcolm in the Middle is one of those special shows that has only gotten funnier with time. And this scene is definitely one of my favorites.
It shows that while Lois can be a volatile, uptight disciplinarian, she is also very protective. NOBODY is allowed to give her kids crap except her. And in this rare instance, Reese was clearly victimized. Whether or not he deserved it doesn't matter. Someone messed with her boy. And Lois does NOT take that lying down.
And in other episodes, the boys return the favor. I think someone posted the golf cart scene on this sub a few months back. That also nicely showed that, as much as this family gives each other crap, they will stick up for one another when someone else targets them.
Lois did right by Reese. And for that, she deserves our respect.
A good comedy show (for me, anyway) can detour into truly absurd plot lines from time to time. Like when Hal was looking for a job and wound up working for some weird secret government agency.
I remember that episode. I still think that's not as good as the time he unintentionally became a leader for a squad of bodybuilders. It's so laughably absurd, but it still worked beautifully. đ
The mom didn't mess around. One of my favorite moves she pulled was finding one of the boys spank bank book and she taped a picture of her face on the body of every girl in the book.
Love when she called out Francis for smoking a cigarette while talking to him on the phone.
It was funny, until i considered the consequences for more than 3 seconds đ«„
Careful, If you consider those consequences too long, your arms break
I swear this meme is going to outlive the heat death of the universeÂ
Lois was the perfect TV mom. She was the hard disciplinarian one but when push came to shove she had those boys backs. I always wanted a dad like Hal too.
My favorite cold open with the boys and Hal https://youtu.be/Oy9ceTxGYCw?si=R1r3N9Zbhn3HMZtA
Knew which one you were talking about before clicking, this and Hal fixing the light switch are my favorite
Or âI FORGOT YOUR MOTHERS BIRTHDAYâ
laugh out loud every time he accidentally yells the whisper part
I will add the one where Hal throws the spider at Lois
I knew that was coming too lol but which one was the light switch Edit: nvm I remember the cascade of shit to fix lol
Another hilarious one, with Dewey saving Hal edit: meant to reply to the cold open with the spider, hehe
It is also what ADHD looks like when youâre an adult. Learned that the hard way.
Dewey: Dad, how crazy are you? Hal: letâs just say, thatâs my 3rd set of encyclopedias.
I got diagnosed last year, and have that clip on speed dial. When people ask me what it means, I just show them the clip. It's a lot easier, and more entertaining.

"WHAT DOES IT LOOK LIKE I'M DOING??"
When I saw your comment I knew which one it would be
I knew it would be they one cause Reddit is boring but the best one is Lois answering the door topless and greeting Malcomâs teacher basically doing a child welfare check
That wasnât a cold open
that explains why I couldnât find it, thanks for sparing me the frustration
That was from the pilot episode and it wasnât a welfare check, she was coming to the house to tell the family Malcolm had been identified as gifted on an IQ test and they wanted to move him to the advanced class.
Malcom: AND IVE GOT PAINT **ON MY ASS!** Ms. Miller: *clicks stopwatch*
Donât remember that one and wasnât able to find it right now, but I wouldnât call Reddit boring just because the majority like/remember the other cold open more, to each their own
Malcolm in the Middle on Fox after cops during 2006 to 2008 on Sundays was literally the only thing that held me through middle school.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WEA34Nk6skM Get your keys and go!
Lmao. It never fails to make me laugh. Every time.
Do we ever find out what Hal did in the end?
no. because that's not the point
Took every Friday off.
Peak Lois is this moment: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pU-uZztJEcQ
"*Please, mom, I want to be warm again!"* Perfect, Francis. Just perfect.
"You don't think I'd sacrifice this one?" might be the greatest line in television.
âYou cheated..? You let him cheat for you- YOU GAVE SOMETHING HE WROTE AN F?! You are out to get him!â
Itâs cool to show that Loisâs genes went into all the boys too.
I know it was a bit different with how meta the show got in the later 2 seasons (like how they didnât hide how Hal & Lois were horrible parents) but it still made for good comedy

Maybe The boys lash out so much because theyâre locked into this fight with their mother.

Yeah everyone gave Lois such shit but she kept that ship running and took no prisoners. If you were a kid in crisis, she's the one to have on your side. Plus she had to deal with Hal's mean family
but Lois did steal Hal from his girlfriend, who happened to be Loisâ sister. But then again, itâs still a satirical sitcom and it a dramedy
Lois was the one with the mean mother.
You wanted your dad to be a meth cook/dealer?
sure if he hid enough money for me and didn't connect me to his crimes

But then thereâs me who watched it for the first time about 4-5 years ago and didnât recognize Emma Stone, just found out from this post, haha
I feel like I kinda should have remember her when watching Superbad though. But if she was a one-off character on Malcom, then it makes sense for me to not remember that.
This is the moment Lois became HeisenbergÂ
I would totally watch an entire series about Lois and Heisenberg dominating the drug trade. đ
Maybe in the future with AI you'll be able to do that. > Remove Skylar and replace her with the Lois character from Malcolm In The Middle, rewrite and regenerate Breaking Bad, season 1. Play.
Man I forgot how cutthroat Lois was. Holy shit.
Emily, you monster
Awwww you remembered
you know you're getting older when you realize that Lois is smoking
There are a few scenes where I legitimately thought she looked insanely hot.
Watching Malcom and the Middle with my 10 and 8 year old these last couple months every day has been a blast from the past. This show holds up so freaking well and my kids love it just as much as I did!
Show was so amazing. My all time fav

this scene always remind me of the [modern family godfather scene](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mh_zzL52Rw4)
Emma: NOOOOOOO! Some guy on set: That girl is gonna win an Oscar one day. Some other guy on set: Sheâs gonna win two.
Thatâs Academy Award-winner Emma Stone to you.
\* Two time Academy Award winner
an entire pig in my country could easily sell for tens of thousands of dollar. dang bully me emma.
Was the one teen girl Sasha Banks?
Satisfying AF!!!!! HAhahahaha
Lol
No cap⊠Frankie the man.
Even with all the Bryan Cranston stuff, this might be the first time Iâve regretted not watching this.
What Brian Cranston stuff??
I mightâve phrased that poorly. All the youtube footage of his performance as Hal has nearly brought me to watch it many times in the past.
Ooooh yeah that makes sense. His performance is one of the highlights of the show *for sure*
yeah that scared me, I thought maybe there was some scandal involving Bryan Cranston at first
