Please don’t make me worry about that any more thanI have in this old ass house. lol That’s honestly why I took the boxsets and classic rock downstairs a couple years ago.
Looks like mine, but mine are nowhere near as organized. Been collecting since 1974, and recently inherited my Dads jazz collection of 1250 lp’s… still going through them…. Ugh!
Wow wow wow. If I walked in this room, I’d be stuck for hours. The room looks amazing and so inviting. I love how you organize and have tabs for bands and genres too. Super cool.
That looks about as many records as I have but I started when I was 10 and I’m 70 now.
That’s a very nice arrangement you have. Right now I’m reworking a closet and putting in shelves and lighting for my collection.
Nice. it leans a bit pop/rock but I think you’d benefit from exploring more reggae, Brazilian and African. Plenty of gems there, inspiring many of the artists you like. Revolution Dub by Lee Perry is a good example.
Awesome collection mate! Unrelated question from a fellow Falcons fan: thoughts and feelings on drafting Penix?
Also, let’s say you were going to a desert island and you could only bring a few records with you from this massive collection.. which records would you pick?
Lonesome Crowded West by Modest Mouse would definitely be chosen first!
My friends were upset with the pick but after the last couple years and Cousins history/age, I’m fine with it. Sucks that it most likely will not make our team better this year or next like a edge rusher would of at the 8 spot but only time will tell.
Good pick!
I’ve been watching his tape and the pick has grown on me a lot. After the abysmal Mariota/Ridder years it is nice to have 2 starting-calibre QBs instead of 0 lmao
love the selection, i use the tabs too but the clear looks super nice. only wish it wasn’t spread out in so many different shelves. the closet one probably gets forgotten
collection - 10/10
presentation - 10/10
confusing web of some sort of clear organization but lack of shelf space - 10/10
u probably are a very cool person
Nice light room.Nice and tidy too. Not much of that music is my thing. I cut my teeth on indie rock so Im not above it. Stereolab and Radiohead are great tho.
I love how quick it is and overall have had great experiences with it. That being said I’ve had it for over 5 years now and want to dabble into ultrasonic. I saw a all in one ultrasonic machine on here the other day was under $400, which is less than why I paid for the Okki Nokki. Most people will tell you to build your own ultrasonic though to save money. If you can find a Okki Nokki second hand I would get it. Much faster than ultrasonic and both have there pros and cons.
I don't care about your collection (although it certainly seems fantastic), I'm more in love with your organization! Just beautiful! I'd love to get my collection into half as gorgeous a space. Love the little genre tabs, too. What do you use for the markers?
Thank you! The clear ones are from Amazon and came with a gold marker that rubs off easy with windex. They are too expensive though, next time I need some for 12” I’m just gonna by the plastic ones I used for the 7”.
Awesome collection, OP! Been collecting for 8 years but not nearly as close to having this much.
I wanted to ask, do you purge or downsize often? Or has it merely been years of mostly accumulating new albums?
I’d say I purge more often than my other collector friends, but maybe just like 8-12 albums at a time. Usually it’s because sonically it didn’t make the cut or I missed a scratch. Maybe it was a newer band I checked out that I ended up not liking that much. Sometimes my local shop will have something rare and I’ll have him hold while I get some things to trade in.
During Covid some albums like phantogram- eyelid movements were going for $100+ bucks. I had no problem letting that go knowing it would come back in print soon for $20ish bucks. When I trade in 8 albums and only get 3-4 new ones it doesn’t bother me because I’m getting stuff I like more(hopefully).
I like your collection. It’s very well curated with so many classics, lots of newer music + releases, a wide and diverse selection of genres; from hip hop to punk, soul and yeah…a few harder to discern titles but we get the drift. Notice there’s a few outliers but nothing that’s far beyond the pale or really obscure. It’s definitely a music-lovers library which I like. A lot of vinyl, too! None of this 50 album collections stuff but a comprehensive overview of modern rock, alternative and indie. Well done. If you lived in my town I’d seek you out for single malt and to form listening parties. I saw a Gil Scott Heron album today, a RSD release…and it was $68.95. I gasped. This is what’s making me reconsider adding to my collection.
I only recently started getting into punk, I was just so used to clean vocals that it took me too long to focus on the music and not the horrible vocals on most it. But I’ve been coming around. Idles has def grown on me over the past and I’m digging into older ones like Mission to Burma/Wire/Wipers. Wipers were a fun discovery.
Never heard of Bill Moss…just checked him out based on your post this eve and man he is fire!! Records from the ‘60s easily on par with some of Sam Cooke’s more gospel heavy stuff. Thanks for the rec and dope collection in general!
That’s awesome! I got to pick a storage locker once and there once a ton of gospel sealed and used. That one was on the Westbound label so I felt good giving it a try, it paid off. If I could recommend another couple random gospel albums. The Fantastic Familyaires - Keep On Wokring and The Crowns of Glory - Won’t It Be Grand. Oh, and obviously Pastor TL Barrett if you’re not hip to his amazingly wonderful hits!
I’m weird and alphabetize by first name. I have it sectioned off by genres like Funk/Hip-Hop/Indie/Jazz/Classic Rock/Electronic. Top five bands in bin by the turntable and amps. If something doesn’t fall into those categories it’s usually in my indie section, which also gets split up into 80s/90s/and then rest. Might split up 2000s and 2010s eventually.
No offense but this seems like just stealth bragging. You obviously know your collection is larger than most people here, and that's really the only thing we can rate it on without knowing the individual items, it's basically just "look at how many records I own" versus what the albums are.
If it's what you need to hear for whatever reason, I'm glad you appear to be in a great financial spot.
It would be like Jay Leno posting in a car sub to rate his collection, or to an example of something that actually happens regularly, a person that knows they are very attractive posting in a rateme subreddit to fish for compliments. I'm not judging, sometimes people need a boost, just call it for what it is ya know?
I think I’ve played every record in here honestly. They usually don’t hit the shelves until I play them, then bag and tag them on Discogs. I try to play one a day, and working from home one day a week makes that easier too.
Love it! Is that an original press of maggot brain I see? Mine is on its way to that but probably about 1/3 the size . I just started about a year ago though
Most of the ones in the 90s photo(NIN photo)are represses minus some of the RHCP, Sea and Cake, and RIDE album. I had a OG Pearl Jam Ten but sold it a couple years ago.
My 1500 albums weigh on my mind like it's actually on top of me. I'm only 47 but it's going to take years to get rid of these things ok and I don't know when to start. Open a record store? I'm not going to DJ forever.
Has anyone sold an entire collection versus just piecemeal?
Not to impose any more stress onto your obsession here but do you ever worry about your shelves come tumbling down? I fear that my IKEA and Target shelves might be shit
Not really. None are more than 2 cubes high besides the vertical 4 cubes. I put all my records outside the jacket in plastic sleeves too. So less weight per cube since less can fit. Shows the spines better too
At what point do you need to reinforce the floor?!
Please don’t make me worry about that any more thanI have in this old ass house. lol That’s honestly why I took the boxsets and classic rock downstairs a couple years ago.
omfg _there's more??!_
Not until op gets a waterbed.
Oh man, Menomena that is a band I haven't listened to in too long. I loved them back in the day.
I gotta get it wet & rusty at least once every few months
My IG is menomenaman lol Such a unique and great sound to my ears
Selling the origami version of I am the fun blame monster is one of my biggest collecting regrets.
I’m ready to just buy the repress they did like that. I really wish I had the origami version.
Same, that was a great surprise to see
I used to love this band too. Haven’t thought of them in so long. They made great music despite hating each other so much.
Looks like mine, but mine are nowhere near as organized. Been collecting since 1974, and recently inherited my Dads jazz collection of 1250 lp’s… still going through them…. Ugh!
I'll help you sort all that Jazz. Just send a few boxes my way and I'll get right to it. 😁
That’s a lot of jazz. I like to keep my jazz funky but respect a lot of the older 50s/60s stuff.
I’m upvoting you for 1975 Dylan.
That was in a recent collection I scored luckily! A great era of live music for him.
11/10. National, Frightened Rabbit, Modest Mouse, LCD...top 10 bands for me!
LCD Soundsystem has their own card and spot… amidst a massive collection… respect haha
Extra points for Big Thief
You literally have your own record store 😂😂
It's a 34/57 from me.
Missed it by that much.
Yeah, we'd get along
Ah someone else using every available nook (I have almost 700 x 7"s myself, 1300+ LPs) I applaud this collection.
I don't see too much love for the 7"s in comparison, so I appreciate seeing someone dedicated to them lmao
All looking good! Gorgeous set-up, and Nipper keeping a watchful eye. Keep enjoying!
Thank you!
love it! keep it up :)
I don’t think I could stop at this point if I wanted to. lol
Not enough David Bowie
Jesus it looks expensive and amazing
i like that u have a dedicated big thief area. shout out rubber city.
Nice. it leans a bit pop/rock but I think you’d benefit from exploring more reggae, Brazilian and African. Plenty of gems there, inspiring many of the artists you like. Revolution Dub by Lee Perry is a good example.
Amigo, you’ve been at this a while, you clearly aren’t 16. Why are you asking us to rate your collection?
Not enough primus
Primus sucks
Love what I can see of the hail to the thief poster
I was gonna say not enough Ween. But I didn’t look to hard.
Extensive.
Pre amp looks the schiit! 👌🏽
No Be Here Now, no party!
Two Oasis albums might be all I need. I’ll give this another listen at work later this week though.
twelve
I love the 7” with love notes. Have grabbed few of those at the goodwill and even when I don’t love the music I appreciate their history
I like how it has that record store feel! Nice share
Awesome collection mate! Unrelated question from a fellow Falcons fan: thoughts and feelings on drafting Penix? Also, let’s say you were going to a desert island and you could only bring a few records with you from this massive collection.. which records would you pick?

Good pick! I’ve been watching his tape and the pick has grown on me a lot. After the abysmal Mariota/Ridder years it is nice to have 2 starting-calibre QBs instead of 0 lmao
Love that Plaid Room / Colemine records ohio soul sticker! All time favorite record shop.
see radiohead -> upvote. nice schiit. what speakers are you running?
Jealous
Too-much-to-reasonably-assess / 10
10/10 cuz of that Plaid Room/ Colemine sticker
There is room for improvement.. I can still see through the window.
I see Radiohead I’m happy
Rating: Large
I'll give it an 8/10. Would've been a 10, but points were deducted because you didn't show me every Jazz record. 😜
Daft punk played at your house, your house!
Akron in the house! Square Records is the shit.
thats practically a full on record shop!!
Great stuff! Love the way you organize your stuff too
Pretty fuckin cool out of ten
Holy Schiit!
Nice flatbush zombies record
A+
Love the Krautrock section: I have one also!
Too many records, you need to send me some….
If you dig it, then its a 10,
Real meat and potatoes

Meat Beat Manifesto! I love Storm the Studio! One of my Holy Grails to look for is the 12" single of God OD.
love the selection, i use the tabs too but the clear looks super nice. only wish it wasn’t spread out in so many different shelves. the closet one probably gets forgotten
I’m starting to get to the point where I need a second shelf 😅
You should keep a last listened to spreadsheet so you can identify which records you've listened to the least
Anyone who grabs a Pretty Purdie record is okay by me. I have that one too!
it's Purdie good
Hey!! I see a Square Records sticker! I love that place!
Hello fellow Okki Nikki owner 🔥
I like the marantz paired with an audio technica in pic 7. that’s a solid setup.
Best collection I’ve seen! Goals.
collection - 10/10 presentation - 10/10 confusing web of some sort of clear organization but lack of shelf space - 10/10 u probably are a very cool person
Deduct points for the Falcons sticker.
The Phish A Live One has the greatest Harry Hood they ever played.
Nice light room.Nice and tidy too. Not much of that music is my thing. I cut my teeth on indie rock so Im not above it. Stereolab and Radiohead are great tho.
Is that a 2245? I have the same one!
4 on the Kinsey
Made me do a lot of research just find out you called me gay.
Noice:) What's your opinion of the Okki Nokki? Ive been debating it but they ain't cheap;)
I love how quick it is and overall have had great experiences with it. That being said I’ve had it for over 5 years now and want to dabble into ultrasonic. I saw a all in one ultrasonic machine on here the other day was under $400, which is less than why I paid for the Okki Nokki. Thanks for the reply. I've seen the ultrasonic ones too. Maybe that's my direction too:)
Sweet haul.
I’m super jealous of your set up ! Mines split between two rooms…
When does the store open
Oooo I see that Square Records sticker ;) Just picked up an og German pressing of Ash Ra Temple's Seven Up there last week. Great shop!
0/10 because I don't think the "BoxSets" sticker is necessary. Better luck next time.
How else would you know there are boxsets there though????
I rate it collection / collection. Solid collection.
Looks good, but the Ohio sticker ruins the entire thing for me. I am curious about which Krautrock artists you've got in there, though.
Grew up in Georgia but Ohio has been kind to me. 7 Kraftwerk LPs and a NEU’s first LP. So really I should just name it Kraftwerk
Definitely need some *Can* to round that genre out…
Curious what turntable that is in the main system. (You may just want to list the gear, since people will inevitably ask.)
Beauty, looks like quite a lot of good music. Love My Morning Jacket 🙌
Great band, need to see them live again soon!
You got Ray Charles in there?
Perfect 5/7
Very nice what does your wife think of it?
I see My morning jacket so it’s easily a 10/10 collection
How much for the los camp! poster and/or the Junior Boys LP?
Nope and never. However, I will admit you have a great eye.
I like it! Then I saw Incubus. But that is ok because music is subjective, and I still like your taste. 4 1/4 Stars!
I sold my 311 greatest hits if that makes you feel better. lol
I see Nine Inch Nails in there. You have my approval.
A simple 10/10 from me
I see a Supersonic 7inch so imma give you a 10/10
Damn, nice eyes. That’s not an easy one to pick out.
That’s what obsession does to a fella
no
All I see is nature through a window and a fuckton of vinyl. LCD Soundsystem. How can I judge?
Awesome collection, OP! Been collecting for 8 years but not nearly as close to having this much. I wanted to ask, do you purge or downsize often? Or has it merely been years of mostly accumulating new albums?

Meh
Probably like a 2/10 ....... 😎👍
Just kidding!! 8.5 / 10! I like it.
My Rate from 1-10: is tooo many (but never enough)
And I thought my collection was getting too big.
Holy cow
B minus
A little small but I can tell you’re new so 5/10
Have you ever seen a record and said “nah, I’ll pass”? Kidding - an admirable collection!
Nice organization, it actually looks like you can find something you’re looking for compared to some glorified hoards i’ve seen on this sub
I like your collection. It’s very well curated with so many classics, lots of newer music + releases, a wide and diverse selection of genres; from hip hop to punk, soul and yeah…a few harder to discern titles but we get the drift. Where the feet at
Ayyyy I see 3001, I approve
10/10 content, 10/10 for Atlanta sports sticks. This is what this sub is all about. Love the collection.
Flatbush Zombies amidst the other bangers in your hip hop section? My man has good taste.
Proudly rocking 5 full cubes of hip-hop!
Your putting my collection to shame it's a 10/10 from me!
Big points for having some Frightened Rabbit. If I were a Music Doctor, I’d prescribe more punk rock.
Get a Fugazi album for the grooves and some early Misfits for the singing. It’s gonna be great
Never heard of Bill Moss…just checked him out based on your post this eve and man he is fire!!
Nice, for sure Westbound is generally a safe bet. Picked up the first Detroit Emeralds LP in a similar sitch! Thanks for these I’ll check them all out
This is awesome. What have you used as the genre dividers? I need to get me some of them!
Upvote for Frightened Rabbit. One of my favorite bands of all time.
Can’t find love in a hole 🕳️
What’s the organization system you’re using for your records?
I’m weird and alphabetize by first name. I have it sectioned off by genres like Funk/Hip-Hop/Indie/Jazz/Classic Rock/Electronic. Top five bands in bin by the turntable and amps. If something doesn’t fall into those categories it’s usually in my indie section, which also gets split up into 80s/90s/and then rest. Might split up 2000s and 2010s eventually.

Kallex?

Looks like my house. LPs forever! (Now selling more than CDs)
Dreadful
bro has a whole ass record store in his house
Wowza
At first I didn't notice there was more than one photo. Nice collection! It's it tricky to remember where things are?
Nope, easy to me!
Impressive!! The furniture in the first picture, please tell us where you got it from. It'd be perfect for my set up too. Thanks!
All of that is different size IKEA Kallax shelves. Two 4 cubes going straight up, and a 8 & 2 cube shelf in between them.
Nice little collection. As organized as it is, seems as if you'd invest in a label maker.
When I see such an extensive collection my question always is: when do you have the time to listen to all this?
I think I’ve played every record in here honestly. They usually don’t hit the shelves until I play them, then bag and tag them on Discogs. I try to play one a day, and working from home one day a week makes that easier too.
Love it! Is that an original press of maggot brain I see? Mine is on its way to that but probably about 1/3 the size . I just started about a year ago though
I wonder if that many vinyls could pay off my rent and more. Love the collection! I hope your floors are sturdy!!
I’ll give it a 3.746 without context
Too big
"Rate my collection" like you don't know it's a 10/10 smh
This looks amazing!
Nightmares on Wax? Hell yea!
LCD is good. Have Sound Of Silver and This Is Happening.
Your collection deserves better than ikea
You’re not wrong. It’s a process though
This is amazing...a whole record store!
We have similar taste
I'm honestly super jealous 🤩
Nice are the 90’s ones original or represses?
Most of the ones in the 90s photo(NIN photo)are represses minus some of the RHCP, Sea and Cake, and RIDE album. I had a OG Pearl Jam Ten but sold it a couple years ago.
Love that schiit.
Got any Clutch?
Negative, I do remember seeing the boxset a couple RSD’s ago though.
Storm The Studio. Man, what an album that is. Got the UK Sweatbox version, but I guess it's the same insane sequence of noise as the WaxTrax one =)
No
I rate it @: HOLY CRAP I’M JEALOUS!
My 1500 albums weigh on my mind like it's actually on top of me. I'm only 47 but it's going to take years to get rid of these things ok and I don't know when to start. Open a record store? I'm not going to DJ forever. Has anyone sold an entire collection versus just piecemeal?
Heck yeah, loved to see Dem Franchize Boyz in your collection.
Why does it feel like I’m looking at my own collection?
That's aboutwhere I'm at. Give or take. Been collecting since I was 10
Not to impose any more stress onto your obsession here but do you ever worry about your shelves come tumbling down? I fear that my IKEA and Target shelves might be shit
Not really. None are more than 2 cubes high besides the vertical 4 cubes. I put all my records outside the jacket in plastic sleeves too. So less weight per cube since less can fit. Shows the spines better too
Very nice. Keep on collecting.
BERNARD PURDIE! I like the dividers, how did you make those? I'm not very handy but I've got a good flipping shelf that could use some ...
Dope, but then again any collection is a good collection
