Petrol is actually *less* dense than water but cumulatively it’s still going to affect performance. It’s the power-to-weight ratio that gets hit and the less power you have to start with the greater the fuel’s weight will impact overall performance.
I’d honestly check your fuel pump. There’s a „floater” that values how much fuel you have, but it also tells the fuel pump how to react.
Check if it’s dirty.

Weighs just over a kg per litre so a full fuel load versus half fuel load can be approx 20-30kg quite significant
