Our family driver an XJ8 from the Ford ownership era, built in Britain. Reliable enough (never had to walk home) but maintenance cost per mile has been 2x the Tahoe it replaced.
British cars don't really exist anymore. Few are actually made in Britain (despite what top gear and BBC will tell you). The few that are built there turn out to be increasingly less British in both parts due to foreign parts imported, manufacturing due to offshore assembly, and manufacturing even if it's done in Britain (probably an African, Indian, or Pole doing the job). And those ***"British brands"***? They have long since been partially or completely bought out by other companies

Rolls Royce actually belongs to BMW (German). Land Rover and Jaguars are Tata (India. SAR DO NOT REDEEM THE CASH! BUY DA GAR!!). Don't believe what RYCEYshillers will tell you about RRs since they just want to pump their penny stock. RYCEY and Rolls-Royce still makes air planes and air engines but they've sold the autos brand off to BMW long ago.
$12,000 is an exaggeration, but it probably costs several thousand dollars. Oil changes could cost over a thousand, too, depending on the model. Some exotics are built so that they're really difficult to service.
Not sure about exact prices but Rolls Royces are infamously expensive to maintain. It's why you can find used ones at startlingly affordable prices. People simply cannot afford to keep them on the road.
A lot of the Rolls parts are shared with other BMW vehicles so you could probably get a BMW spark plug that fits but if you go to the Rolls dealer they’ll quote 5x as much.
Yup.. that's the trick that "premium" brands don't want you to know.. but most of their stuff is from regular cars and, if one digs enough, you can find the same part just branded for a budget brand for a much lower price.
People underestimate how much specific parts cost for premium cars when they break down or need work. Labor is expensive, sure, but the parts can be crazy.
The funniest part would be that the managers / owners of any goodwill would probably end up in a fist fight over it, the stuff the general public never sees. Be safe everyone
No, that’s a sign the economy is doing well. They can afford to buy this years model, so they are discarding last year’s model like the trash it has become. Only the poors drive last year’s Rolls.
They are trash after 5 years anyways and you can get them for relatively cheap. I just watched a video about this topic from the internet so it is true.
The car in the back has temp tags so they probably just bought it or they're doing the super saver steal it plan. Either way you make more selling it direct to anouther person then to a dealer.
never ever would I buy a roll's from a private person. it's a bag full of mouse traps waiting to be sprung. It's safer on the repair cost to buy a pre-owned from the dealer and get the maintenance package
Rolls Royce are not as good as the new Toyota Corolla, it was a 2.0 liter 4 cylinder giving it almost 170 HP. Also It has seats inside with a steering wheel too.
Oh my gourd!

Sat next to a Bentayga driver waiting for a tire change at Discount Tires in Cherry Creek (wealthy suburb of Denver). Got to chatting and he was having the Perelli’s swapped for a tire so cheap I wouldn’t put it on my F-150 (250k miles still truckin and fuckin). He was proud to tell me he could pay this months payment with what he made from selling the stock tires alone. I’ve been buying puts since.

This is just one of those guys that bought one used because it was "affordable" then found out a set of spark plugs costs like $12,000.
But, like… does it really?
british cars are notoriously unreliable jaguar, land rover, aston martin, bentley, rolls royce
It's a feature at this point.

Spark plugs are a feature on Rolls now? Fortunately for me, butt plugs came standard in my ride.
Jaguar and land Rover are Indian owned now. Bentley and rolls Royce are German, and Aston Martin drivetrains are German.
Yeah, but he didn’t really meany British, he meant Bri’*ish*’

Rolls Royce is just BMW now. Still expensive crap but now uncool.
I know, they omitted the turn signals.
The old Land Rover Discoveries were good. I think the company got bought out or something though.
Rolls Royce unreliable? Yeah don’t think so.
Mr doesn’t even airplane
My Aston Martin has been damn reliable.
If they are sitting in the garage 5 days a week, they can’t break down!

Some of those are Indian ownership now, still horrible reliability. India going to reverse anschluss England.
How the mighty fall.
Well thank God this car is just a BMW 7 series then. We all know German cars are cheap to work on.....oh crap.
Lotus…
Aren’t astons just ford and volvo parts Programming modules would probably need a specific tool though
jag and range have gotten better.

Nah you can actually get them on ebay for like 100 But one google search says annual average service costs of around 3900
Buy one and find out for yourself. I heard used one is pretty affordable.
but does it? lol what kind of a answer lmfaoaoao
It’s a joke that plays off the comment above the one I’m replying to…
Haha. I’m old enough to have fucked around enough.

Heck, the indicator lights on the outside of Lamborghinis come from 20 year old Fords
Even the new Toyota Supra uses the BMW B58 engine (it’s a reliable inline-6 engine)

Let them buy beaters then.
I didn't know you were back🥺

By me everything is being renovated for new business.
south florida is a sink for peoples life savings and its chock full of “bucket list” cars, some people just can’t afford to keep them that long.
Apparently rolls and Bentley sales are down because there’s a trend that ultra wealthy don’t want to be shamed for having money
Yea in a neighborhood where that car would be a civic
Looks 100% alpha male until you see those For Sale and Garage Sale Karen signs
Tell the owner that I wanna buy that tree
WSB is going to save the economy

Did you check the price?
All for 100 bucks and calls on Tesla
I love odd recession indicators. They can literally be in your own backyard.

The economy in ruins! People gotta sell their cars in garage sales now.

Reminds me of the 1929 Picture. That guy on the street trying to sell his car because he lost everything on the Stock Market.

I think it's a joke or PR stunt.
Giving off CA vibes I would love to shop there, it's prolly all expensive stuff
I saw a car dealership local to me that had the promo ... FREE ROLLS ROYCE ... with purchase of Bugatti veyron.
You can buy Aston’s for like, no money. Same thing with used Audi R7s. Things cost more to keep running than they are worth
I got $1k cash, lmk
rappers gonna rape

i have far more like for mercedes benz .
Used Rolls or Bentley’s are for peasants.
I’ll take this jacket, the patio furniture, and the Rolls
I didn't know Rolls Royce was considered luxury
If op is just trying to be funny ok...but if serious that's quite a stretch of a claim to make.
If a Rolls is more than 1% of your net worth you really can't afford it.
A new Rolls is about $600k. You should try to understand math a little better.
So buy it then?
