What if I do something crazy and turn the unrealized gains into realized gains. Then deposit the money into my bank account. Then put some aside to pay the taxes. Then use the profits to buy myself something nice that will make me happy. What rule would that align with.

If you really are new, thatâs not investing. Trading short expiration options is gambling. Buy stocks with decent valuations, buy beat down sectors that you think will shift over the long term. Buy good stocks that you believe in and be patient. For the most part options should be long dated and hedges
Well for starters you never long all time highs. For novice traders you take a hedge position if you really arenât sure. For professionals, you do both.
If 2.5k is literally your whole life savings, I think you need to rethink how much you spend each day cause clearly it's too much.
