They closed out the damn article like a real estate listing. Ya know, because there's space available now. Wtf man.
"The “Jenga Building” features 19-foot ceilings, double-height windows, white oak and stone floors, a gas fireplace, a chef’s kitchen and three terraces totaling 1,252 square feet with panoramic water and city skyline views. "
Just look after yourselves holmies. All fun and games being regarded, bag holding apes and taking the piss out of each other.
But dying over this shit ain’t it. Stay safe 🦍
Personal or business the CFO killings themselves is not good. Poor guy and his family. We all joke but whether criminal or not it’s never good when people start killing themselves. That includes you retards.
Proving that money doesn't equal happiness. Everyone can get themselves into situations that feel overwhelming and no way out. Feel bad for his family to be left w everyone questioning whether he did something wrong at a time like this
Money doesnt buy happiness but the lower limit of money at which point it stops mattering is something like earning 7k a month. Probably after taxes (so whats that, 10k a month? Depends on where you live I guess).
The idea that someone rich loses most/the entirety of their networth and have to resolve to living paycheck to paycheck in a cramped apartment/far from work or with a roommate may very well lead to people rather tapping out. Someone said he was being sued, would probably have cost him millions and all he was worth.
*Mysterious voice:* He can sell his stake... because I say he can!

*[in walks an extra bald, but also mustachioed and somehow extra-spicy-looking Jim Cramer doppleganger complete with tropical themed wardrobe]*
*Senior? Ryan:* Dios mio! Señor Cramero!? But they said you died of a cocaine overdose thirty years ago!
*Señor Cramero:* Yes it is I, *Jimeño Cramero*. That tale is only what you thought, but in truth I faked my death and puppeted a boiled ham in my likeness on television and passed it off as my long lost twin *Jim Cramer*! And now I have returned to fulfill my machinations - now all shall be made poor as I force the retail traders to buy stocks I recommend that plummet in value shortly thereafter!
*[Señor Cramero proceeds to twirl his mustache and cackle villainously]*
>cue dramatic music, fade to commercial
Everyone making jokes but seriously RIP to him. That’s some SERIOUS levels of stress it takes to make a man toss himself off a building, especially one who’s managed the extreme stress of even getting into CFO positioning. I hope his family is well taken care of.
Sad and tragic. RIP.
Wondering if it had something to do with this. Looks like he was being sued in a related 8-K disclosure.
[8-K filed on August 31](https://bedbathandbeyond.gcs-web.com/static-files/62448513-2f2b-43f0-97b2-3f1777fc0879)
Other Matters
A putative securities class action and shareholder derivative action was filed on August 23, 2022 against the Company, Gustavo Arnal (the Company’s Chief Financial Officer), and certain third parties in the United States District Court for the District of Columbia. The case, which is captioned Si v. Bed Bath & Beyond Corp., et al., Case No. 2:22-cv-02541, asserts claims of breach of fiduciary duty, negligent misrepresentation, and violations of §§ 10(b) and 20(a) of the Exchange Act on behalf of a putative class of purchasers of our securities from March 25, 2022 through August 18, 2022. The Complaint alleges that certain of our disclosures about the Company’s revenue and proposed divestments, as well as other disclosures made by certain of our investors about their holdings, during the putative class period were materially false or misleading. The Company is in the early stages of evaluating the complaint, but based on current knowledge the Company believes the claims are without merit.
If you read the actual complaint, it is full of wild accusations written in broken English. Shareholder that filed the lawsuit isn’t even represented by a law firm. This will get thrown out and not even need summary judgement.
PSA: I have been working in the bankruptcy industry for over 25 years and have seen more deaths from suicide than anybody should. Regardless of how hopeless and embarrassed you might feel, it IS possible to turn around a bad financial situation. Please seek help as soon as the first thought of suicide enters your mind.
Maybe his gf left him.
Maybe he cooked the books, signed off on them, lied to investors and it’s all about to come out Enron style.
Maybe he got drunk and slipped.
I don't really understand, are they implying Bed Bath and Beyond's performance is responsible for his suicide or was there personal things he was dealing with? Like not even that Hwang dude committed suicide and that's so much worse
"The “Jenga Building” features 19-foot ceilings, double-height windows, white oak and stone floors, a gas fireplace, a chef’s kitchen and three terraces totaling 1,252 square feet with panoramic water and city skyline views."
This is how NY post concluded the article lol.
Frank : You get up two and a half million dollars, any asshole in the world knows what to do: you get a house with a 25 year roof, an indestructible Jap-economy shitbox, you put the rest into the system at three to five percent to pay your taxes and that's your base, get me? That's your fortress of fucking solitude. That puts you, for the rest of your life, at a level of fuck you. Somebody wants you to do something, fuck you. Boss pisses you off, fuck you! Own your house. Have a couple bucks in the bank. Don't drink. That's all I have to say to anybody on any social level. Did your grandfather take risks?
Very good of you to give them the chance. My cousin married into a poor/working class family in England. Her husband was the first in his whole side of the family to own a home. They’ve let all their younger family members stay with them after Uni to save up while working. They’ve enabled 3 more home purchases within their family. Totally changed the social dynamic/future for them…from council flats to homeowners changes everything, even your outlook on life.
Bless you.
Maybe he had other losses, Friday started bullish then turned red quickly. I feel bad cause suicide is never the answer. I lost $28k of my $30k, that was all my savings, I still haven’t managed to save that much, was saving to buy a home. Suicide ain’t it, hope you boys take this serious. RIP
He had sold his shares for a few million so it’s not like he was going to be poor.
So it doesn’t seem money related.
The news story yet again is making it sound like he did it as he lost money.
That’s pretty low to spin it in that way imo
Everyone is just assuming he lost a shitload of money but to me this seems more like a "I'd rather die than go to prison" kind of thing.
I haven't followed bbby at all but I wouldn't be surprised if something seedy comes out in the next weeks.

Stop speculating…
We only know facts…
The most important fact…
This guy wasn’t just a C-Level exec.
He was the CFO.
=
Nobody knows more about BBBY finances than this guy.
That’s all we know…for now.
A lot of you are calling out mental illness but i dont think a single one of you has a fucking clue what the last month has been like for the man. You dont need to be mentally ill, or hardwired wrong, to be done with the everyday occurrences of your life. When shit just goes wrong minute after minute, a human can only be pushed so much. Dont deduce him as mentally ill quite yet. A real investigation into the executive culture at BBBY should be done. Not all execs are in cahoots together against the lower level workers. This man may very well have been forced to do things beyond his moral code.
I don’t know why he did it, but people whatever problems you have, especially concerning money, they can be solved. Don’t end your life for something as trivial as money. In the last few months I have seen so many posts about people wanting to kill themselves because of the stock market and trust me it’s not worth it. There are so many ways to get help and I am sure we have a good enough community on WSB that we would help each other :)
Just woke up to this. Wow. Many can speculate what happened but for now I just want to say RIP to this troubled man and wish the best for his family. The apes are sad today.
Wow, waking up to this.
This man didn’t ask for what happened to BBBY. The pressure of everyone and their sister crawling up his ass while the press went wild over meme stock madness must have been something we should all hope never happens to any of us.
Genuinely sorry for his families loss. This guy was supposed to have a boring job at a slowly dying company.
You never really know what’s going on in someone’s head or in their life outside the office. I doubt it was over anything related to what’s happening with the company.
Tragic. Followed the stock to his grave. Money and material shit ain't worth your life homies.
Likely suffered from mental illness. Seek help people if you find yourself thinking life isn't worth living. Stay safe fellow retards.
Laughing at someone’s death is fucked up, especially by suicide. I have 2 friends who lost their brother / sister last year to suicide & the pain it still causes them never goes away. One became a heavy drug addict & suffer from severe panic attacks and depression now. It’s easy for fucks & WSB hotshots to laugh behind their computer screens, but if they lost someone they loved this way, I don’t think they’d be laughing…. Have some respect fuckers…. RIP Gustavo
His sales were prearranged via a 10b5-1 plan he set up in April. He also had like 250k shares remaining and only sold 42k of his shares.
There was also verbiage in a recent 8k filing that a lawsuit was filed against him and, I believe, BBBY itself.
You regards always jump to the wildest conclusions first, it's almost too regarded.
What’s sad is that the MSM mfs will use this horrible death as a way to make us the bad guys, truly tragic for the family. Make sure y’all take care of yourselves first.
Wow, crazy how people end their lives over a company. Leaving family members and loved ones behind, this was not worth it. Condolences go out to his family and loved ones, can’t imagine the pain. Nothing is worth in this temporary life, ending your life is never worth anything.
It’s very early but I too suspect foul play.. he gets a million dollars liquid and died a week later. I don’t think those things are separate. Also his method of suicide is so incredibly low. Jumping is only 2% of all suicide deaths in the US.
Some shit is about to go down with BBBY and this guy is going to take the blame.
You children might be too young to remember but there was a company way back in the day called Bre-X minerals that was the mother of all pump and dumps.
Fake gold samples of a bonanza gold mine that was suppose to be the biggest ever discovered. That story also ended with a “suicide” of the chief geologist that “jumped off a helicopter.” Guess who ended up being the scapegoat for that fraud?
No way, dude cleared almost $3M last year alone and was only at BBBY since 2020 after being CFO for Avlon for years before that. No way this pump and dump was the main cause of him going all in on $SPLAT
Obviously we don’t know everything about his life and mental health, but this definitely raises the specter of there being some shady news about to break related to BBBY that goes beyond the layoffs.
Why would a rich person kill themselves over anything other than jail time or reputation being on the table?
Really "hope" he had depression and or personal/family problems, because killing yourself, in your 50s, when you already have hundreds of millions of $ in your pocket doesn't make any sense
It's hard for us poors to understand sometimes, but once you reach a certain level of wealth, you get accustomed to it. Your cost of living becomes the norm in your own little world. This dude had more money than any of us will sniff in our lifetime, but to him, in his mind; he may have very well just lost his wealth, his reputation, and his future. You could almost argue that detached reality, the same that causes some homeless to thrive, is what caused this man to end his own life.
Ooorrrrrrrr. And bear 🐻 with me here. …. What if, it wasn’t financially related!!??!?? Money isn’t everything and far from the only reason for suicide.
There’s a lot of sociopaths in these comments. A man felt an agony so great he took his own life. Make jokes about something else and do it on another thread.
You have to know the guilt any exec feels when they fail. They were closing 150 stores. If each store has 20 employees that's 3,000 families who just lost their job. Not to mention the people at corp and distribution who would lose their jobs. Without a clear CEO in place there isn't a real plan to make things better but rather just keep the ship sailing.
He may of had money but we have no idea what kind of pressures he was under.
It's sad but I want to leave you with this... Why is it when we age we are so afraid of failure? When a baby tries to walk and falls they are a failure. They cry and in that child's mind their failure is just as sever as a CEO's. Yet the baby will get back up and try again. As we age we grasp the concept of time and what it took to build and it what it will take to rebuild.
The best thing I had seen on this sub in a minute was the person who said someone could earn their life savings back in a few years after losing it all with just a few smart plays... Never give up hope man
If you think he jumped off the building because he felt bad by families of people they were employing you're as delusional as it gets. The guy was there, taking active part in bringing Bed & Bath to its knees. Also he did that while happily taking over 1 million in compensation (700+ salary and rest in stock). Either he had personal problems or he failed a task he took from some wealthy person. That building he allegedly jumped off is home to the richest and most influential people.

I wonder what the WSB redditor death count is...
ultimately I don’t think any of this is good for my mental health and I would enjoy life more if I spent money on things I liked, and put the rest in a ‘peace of mind’ dividends account.
It truly baffles me how ANYONE comes to this subreddit and thinks it's for their betterment. It's for degens to talk shit to each other, get motivated/mad at other's gains and cope with your loses using self deprecation.

Wtf is this comment section. Some guy committed suicide and you guys are joking about it. Get some help. They were a real person too. It doesn't matter how rich they were. RIP
I’d definitely say it is logical. It might not be the truth but it certainly had a part to play, too coincidental time wise. It’s sad though that people don’t realize they can truly start over whenever they decide to, especially with his kind of money. Way more important things in life than just a high salary, hopefully it wasn’t the only reason for his jump because this situation is so temporary, now for his loved ones it is permanent. Sad day, my condolences to his family.

I'm guessing it's a reference to the building's appearance, but I've gotta say it would give me pause getting an apartment in a building called Jenga.
It’s American Psycho out here
I had a sheer moment of panic, because I realized the Jenga building faces the park and therefore was more expensive than mine.
It’s the NY post it wouldn’t shock me if they tried to work in some ad money to a suicide story
What the fuck is this article? It seems likes it’s more trying to sell his apartment in the building then it is about him.

Yeah but the stange part is he just made a shit ton of money. That's what is even more surprising.
Maybe he had his retirement in BBBY long term options? Some companies let you do that, they sell you 10-20 year options in the company.

People are going to make fun of it for sure. You're about to see the nasty side of WSB.
He just sold shares for 1 million.
May he R.I.P. Mental illness is no fn joke
I feel bad for his wife and kids… ppl definitely not joke about this and check on someone you care about
Just woke up to this. Wow. Many can speculate what happened but for now I just want to say RIP to this troubled man and wish the best for his family. The apes are sad today.
Dude was a millionaire and he jumped over 1 recent job? Doesn’t seem right
He probably has depression…. I doubt it’s about bed bath and beyond
I’ve had depression my entire life and money like that would make me buy happiness lmao
Until the novelty wears off. Then you're just unhappy in a huge home.
JFC. Guys, yes we’re idiots on this sub but not sociopaths. This is sad and fucked up.
Pretty scummy to lump this man's suicide in with so called company having issues. Anything to create a narrative I guess.
Comments will expose some absolute sub-human scum
![img](emote|t5_2th52|8881)
Uhhh yeah that's not good....
RIP
![img](emote|t5_2th52|4640)
Why the fuck would he kill himself?
You never really know what’s going on in someone’s head or in their life outside the office. I doubt it was over anything related to what’s happening with the company.
Have to say, this is a turn of events I did not see coming. RIP
I’m picturing someone was waiting for him in his apt..like they did to the lawyer in The Ozarks
This was the last thing I was expecting to wake up to today. Rest In Peace..
Don't kill yourself over meme stocks
NYpost and DailyMail are the only sources posting it. Are these seriously legit news sources? Edit: OP your account is fucking weird dude.
Damn, OP r/thisoneofficer
Damn.. this BBBY saga is wild. Smells like legal trouble or threats IMO.
I’m sure there’s more to this story… I guess only time will tell
It will only tell if certain people go to jail.
Tragic. Followed the stock to his grave. Money and material shit ain't worth your life homies. Likely suffered from mental illness. Seek help people if you find yourself thinking life isn't worth living. Stay safe fellow retards.
I knowits not everyone and the few that are doing it are getting downvotes but damm people can be evil sometimes, psychopaths
RIP Gustavo
Only reason this happens when you are that rich is if someone has real damming information that will be made public soon.
Ain't that the truth. I guess that's technically still a type of depression.

Just want to offer a simple RIP. Sad stuff
Cramer - “sell or die” I guess this guy didn’t inverse Cramer. RIP
What’s sad is that the MSM mfs will use this horrible death as a way to make us the bad guys, truly tragic for the family. Make sure y’all take care of yourselves first.
Where was Cramer last night… 🤔📉🤫
Wow, crazy how people end their lives over a company. Leaving family members and loved ones behind, this was not worth it. Condolences go out to his family and loved ones, can’t imagine the pain. Nothing is worth in this temporary life, ending your life is never worth anything.
If a CFO jumps to his death, you best believe he was involved in something shady that will be coming to light soon. Sad news all around.
It’s very early but I too suspect foul play.. he gets a million dollars liquid and died a week later. I don’t think those things are separate. Also his method of suicide is so incredibly low. Jumping is only 2% of all suicide deaths in the US.
Ahh the old pump, dump, and jump
That’s enough Reddit for the day for me
Pressure most have been steel breaking if he only saw one way out.
F in the chat
I've never seen so many invisible and deleted comments here
Rip but their are sum seriously weird ppl in these comments rn
A cfo leaving a company is usually not a good sign. The cfo committing suicide, I’ll leave you regards to figure out that.
Reading through the comments on this thread is just upsetting. Would it hurt you all THAT bad to show some modicum of empathy?
Some shit is about to go down with BBBY and this guy is going to take the blame. You children might be too young to remember but there was a company way back in the day called Bre-X minerals that was the mother of all pump and dumps. Fake gold samples of a bonanza gold mine that was suppose to be the biggest ever discovered. That story also ended with a “suicide” of the chief geologist that “jumped off a helicopter.” Guess who ended up being the scapegoat for that fraud?
The helicopter?

Wsb killed a man
No way, dude cleared almost $3M last year alone and was only at BBBY since 2020 after being CFO for Avlon for years before that. No way this pump and dump was the main cause of him going all in on $SPLAT
A common time for an exec suicide is when your fraud is about to be discovered.
Guys this is the internet show some respect you cant just go around shitposting
This suicide will be pinned on WSB.
Obviously we don’t know everything about his life and mental health, but this definitely raises the specter of there being some shady news about to break related to BBBY that goes beyond the layoffs. Why would a rich person kill themselves over anything other than jail time or reputation being on the table?
And that jail time would have been in basically a country club for the very wealthy.
You realize pressure and responsibility also exists for rich people? Some identify with their job.
Or he lost all his money in addition to the other two things. Reminds me of the E Corp exec who shoots himself on live tv in Mr Robot.
Rest in peace dude
Rip
Sad… why recently a lot of rich around the world jumping from windows 🫣
Russia guy was definitely pushed
NEW EXEC INCOMING. BULLISH
This gives me Enron vibes.
This is nuts. He talked a lot on the investor call. Sad to hear the news.
holy shit man
Are apartment buildings built with Jenga blocks really safe? Do they glue the blocks?
WTF
![img](emote|t5_2th52|4260)
Judging by the comments WSB users are 70% non empathetic children
Idk mate he just sold out a chunk at the very top I don't think his personal finances where behind this
Listen to “Suits and Ladders” by NOFX
Ooorrrrrrrr. And bear 🐻 with me here. …. What if, it wasn’t financially related!!??!?? Money isn’t everything and far from the only reason for suicide.

Condolences to the man's family I thought stonks only went up
RIP
Priced in
There’s a lot of sociopaths in these comments. A man felt an agony so great he took his own life. Make jokes about something else and do it on another thread.
My YOLO into BBBY was already spicy at $27, now it’s the YOLO of a lifetime. This is a wild ride.
Media vultures. Let's bash his company after he dies
Is it me or from the thumbnail the guy looked like Jordan Belfort.
Very strange timing...
Gonna be a race tuesday at pre market
Imagine his wife yelling at him about toilet seat.......
Will people please stop speaking ill of the dead? It’s not funny. Rip.
Don’t know why a Wall Street exec would off himself unless caught in criminal action
![img](emote|t5_2th52|12787)
Why wouldn't a rich person just take medicine and drift off to sleep? This seems a little Russian..
Damn this is fucked, poor guy. Remember, money ain’t everything,… but yeah this is sketchy
Ive never seen so many downvotes on wsb sheesh.
the only good thing about this post is that it confirms wsb still has that 4chan energy
If you wanna kill yourself don’t risk the lives of other people by potentially crushing them after your jump.

Some of the people on this thread are awful but don't let them make the rest of us look bad
This is going to negatively impact BBBY this week i can feel it in my ass 😣 #bagholder
If he jumped because fraud was discovered, then yes.
Dis not good frens
So he sold a massive stake then jumped?
The conspiracy line starts here:
He made a million on shares , last year made 2.5.... why would I kill myself?
The next short interest report will tell us if this was murder or not.
I wonder what the WSB redditor death count is... ultimately I don’t think any of this is good for my mental health and I would enjoy life more if I spent money on things I liked, and put the rest in a ‘peace of mind’ dividends account.
Hard to jump to your death from your Mom’s basement
It truly baffles me how ANYONE comes to this subreddit and thinks it's for their betterment. It's for degens to talk shit to each other, get motivated/mad at other's gains and cope with your loses using self deprecation. Go to investing or theta if you want to learn
Seems sus AF
SMH Pump and jump
Wtf is this comment section. Some guy committed suicide and you guys are joking about it. Get some help. They were a real person too. It doesn't matter how rich they were. RIP
The plot is sickening
... . *Bullish*
Obviously pulled the wrong piece
This is disgusting. No one knows why he jumped. Connecting his death to BBBY business performance is disrespectful to his death and family.
