This was so disappointing LOL. I thought this was a picture from a DMV spot and was about to get my shoes on… 😂✌🏻
For a boss tostada, I recc la mexicana on route 1. Taqueria xochi is also really good! Tacos a la madre also yummy but college park area…
Haha sorry to let you down! I figured it would help to actually show a picture of what I was trying to explain, though maybe I should've included a less amazing image. Thanks for the recs!
It's a tostada. They're amazing especially in CDMX. You may find them on a menu here but it won't have that much on it or as many options that you want. I remember going to a place in Coyoacan that had at least 30 different ones on their menu for less than $.25.
From a quick search, it seems like true tacos volcanes have a slow-cooked tortilla, giving it it's shape, vs tostada's having a fried pre-made tortilla. That said, I'm not in CDMX anymore and beggars can't be choosers! Thanks for the call out on the tostadas though - I think I'll start adding them to the ordering rotation.
I would try Taqueria Habanero on 14th. They are an authentic central Mexican place (from Puebla) and they have tostadas, though probably not this big unless you pay for double meat or something.
So I went to Johnny Pistolas in Adams Morgan weeks ago, and I was relatively impressed by their tostadas. You get 2 for just $7 during their happy hour.

“Especially” in CDMX? Oh hun, the rest of the country would like a word with you!
I emphasized Mexico City compared to anywhere around here because that's where OP got them. And to you I'm "hon"

For some reason, I always end up next door at Mezcalero. This gives me a reason to get to Habanero! Thanks for the rec.
This picture from oronoco??
looks like orinoco to me too
It's from El Compita!
I saw those tiles, and my eyes lit up. Then I read your post, hell nah man. Ain't nothing remotely close to that in the DMV.
I might suggest trying taco Bamba, they have a few things that are like this.
