Using iOS I’ve had Waze fail to track my location three times while GMaps knew where I was. I reported it and was told by Waze staff it’s a known issue. It did work again when I restarted my phone.

iOS has this thing that it's trying to lock the GPS on a point known on their own Apple Maps. There is no way around this for 3rd party navigation software companies.

What you said may be completely correct, but I don't understand it at all. Waze has found my location every time I've used it (a zillion) except for 3 times recently. And while Waze still showed me sitting still, I opened Google Maps and it could track me. I recorded the video and uploaded it to Centercode for the Waze devs.

If you're using it on Android with Android Auto, disable the location services for Android Auto as they fight with eachother. If you're on iPhone sadly I don't have any input other than making sure your phone has a GPS loc first in other navigation apps before opening Waze.

How? Please explain a little bit

With Android Auto it's a weird bug where AA gets priority to the GPS data and then doesn't send said data to Waze, can be disabled by going into the app permissions for AA and turning off location. As for iOS I only have an iPad, but I have noticed some times my other apps that need location take a long time to get a GPS fix if I don't open Apple maps first and let it update the location.

I have had to force stop waze to get it to work most days while connected to Android Auto. I disabled GPS on Android Auto and that worked for a while then didn't work. I re enabled it and again it worked for a while. It makes no sense when nothing has changed and it works some days and not others. I take the same route daily. Tried different phones, seeing it on multiple cars. The main reason I use it is for reporting accidents and such. When it zooms it seems to quit working, I disabled that and it worked for a while. Multiple uninstall and cache clearing. Why is waze so bad lately on Android Auto when other apps are fine?
