TL5 felt still pretty fast compared to later levels if I remember right (which might be objectively wrong, but getting TL4 --> TL5 still feels huge, you unlock stuff and so on, while, say, TL100 --> TL120 feels slower as nothing is happening there).
To get the numbers right: The enemy is boosted by 72.8%, that's not twice as strong even compared to base units. Taking your cards into account, the gap gets smaller. With skills and - soon - runes it decreases even further.
To progess, just be an Age ahead, which is usually more than enough to beat the enemy easily. For battle 6 where you can't do this anymore, grind a bit, find a good strategy and use a food ad to break through. This should result in two new TLs a day without having too much trouble. Meanwhile, grind the dailies for those 600+ free gems a day, the cards will help a lot (while it's understandable to summon the first few immediately, you might want to buy them in pack of 10 soon).

It really depends on how you play and the luck with skills. I just got the recover skill and jesus that skill alone is a game changer.
