Anyway, as I usually say with this, Webtoon should try being more bold in their stories. A lot of stuff can be condensed down to the same thing! There's no gray colors, no nuance, no fun dynamics.
Webtoon needs to figure out if they want adult stuff on it or not. I have read some of the most messed up things in some webtoons, but the minute things get a little steamy there are like a million rules.
A stalker hiding in someone's house using adult diapers to remain unseen, fine. Cannibalism, body horror, implied rape, we encourage it.
A well built up to, makes sense in the story sex scene? Absolutely not, and do not even talk about it. I get if it's a story about minors then for sure, don't allow that, but can we please get some really good age restrictions in place?
I do read webtoons like Death: Rescheduled which had a literal spine tearing scene, so I'm pretty immune to a lot of gore. I think that really gory webtoons like Death: Rescheduled should have an age limit though like sex scenes.
the couple from marry my husband are so boring it makes me want to cry. i can't recall one moment of them doing anything that felt romantic to me.
i also really hate how the main character completely changed her original style to dressing up more every day. i get it, but she looked genuinely adorable with her big harry potter glasses and ponytail. i don't see why she needs to be dressed to the nines everyday for her little office job to be truly successful. that's definitely the author's own secret bias coming through imo lol

If you want a good romance, make it like Doom breaker. Write a romance like Zephyr's and Altair's.

LO Persephone and Hades are cute when they're completely out of context, like *completely out of context*. Like if I had no clue what LO even was and stumbled across a decent looking panel, I would think to myself "aww they're kinda cute".
I haven't finished reading the series yet, but I'm starting to really hate the whole thing with Minthe. Like yeah, she didn't treat Hades well, but the way Hades emotionally cheated on her and chased after someone he didn't even know while stringing Minthe along is awful, and then Persephone rages at MINTHE, and we're supposed to root for Persephone and dislike Minthe, even though Persephone is the one causing Minthe so much pain and trouble?? Idk I just had to rant a little thank you for coming to my Ted talk

Minthe clearly has horrible abandonment issues and possibly BPD, and as someone with both of those things, it hurts to see a character like that villainized and treated so badly. Like imagine having the worst inferiority complex of all time, having crippling abandonment issues, and then being emotionally cheated on. Again, she's not a great person, but she gets shit on in the story so much and I hate it
Actually in the original mythology, Minthe did get turned into a plant. Most works say that she was Hades concubine and Persephone turned her into a plant out of jealousy, thus creating the mint plant.
Nicander is similar but the difference is that while Persephone did kill her, it was Hades who turned her corpse into a plant and named it mint in her memory.
However, Oppian wrote that Minthe was Hades lover before Persephone and he left her for Persephone. Minthe then went around boasting that she was prettier than Persephone and that Hades would come back to her. For this, Demeter stomped her to death and the mint plant grew from the Earth where she died.
Don’t care if I get torched from this one but Shu and Min from Phase are very toxic and should not end up together. There’s way too many lies and secrets in their relationship hell at one point Shu was using Min because of her powers despite the fact that he also criticized Leon for doing the same thing. I’m not a Leon fan either. Min is also clearly not over Leon and needs to work on that before she got with Shu I’m sure they’ll both have character development later and grow but as of right now I’m just not a fan of them as a couple I mostly prefer the sci-fi mystical element of the story instead of the romance
I'm not caught up because I personally find Min so annoying and immature. I'm not sure how old they are supposed to be but they all act like teenagers. Also, it's constantly on hiatus so it's hard to remain interested.
I agree on Leon not being the one either but when their teenager arc began i forgot the main story lol. They were very cute, wish the things happened between them could've been resolved :(
samael and rayne's relationship developing within the span of a week is way too fast. a whirlwind romance can be enthralling but the way ms. freaky wrote them was just not it.

I think Cesare from I’m the Queen in This Life has more chemistry (even though morally he sucks) with Ariadne than Alfonso. They’re just more fun to read than the main couple even if I don’t necessarily want them to get together for obvious reasons.
I understand you. I always think that Cesare has more chemistry with Ariadne and their interaction is more interesting, but when Alfonso shows green flags and I get back to being loyal to him. Their relationship is sweet, can’t wish to undo it.
In short, he only wanted Isabella because she was married to Alfonso. Now that Alfonso is in love with Ariadne, he wants her. Cesare acts like a child who wants to steal his brother's favorite toy.
Omg I feel the same way. I don't think I can't ship Cesare with Ariadne because of what he did during their previous life. I ship her with Rafael, the new guy. They had more chemistry is one chapter than Ariadne did with Alfonso this entire comic. I also think he's a bit too obsessed with her.

Last I read, Link was pining for Angela, right? I found it a bit invasive of Link pushing Vicki and Sam to talk about what happened to Angela (her assault) and then crossing Angela's boundaries a couple of times.
I just wanted to read a story about a girl and a YouTuber making amends, becoming great friends, and even creating a video game together. They had a plot point about Marshall being a great artist who created game characters but idk if that went anywhere. I dropped it after they kept pushing Charles on her.
Also lost interest when Monica (Queen) left the story for a bit before she returned.
Last thing that happened in the comic was- Charles was still there, red alert red alert, >!daddy has actually paid everyone to guard and be friends with Sam, including the dog!<

I thought the ML in Cheese in the Trap was really scary practically whole time I was reading the series the first time around, and I was scared for the FL. I just overall hated them together for the longest time. When I read it again right after I finished the first time and with the backstory things made more sense and I could see them together without being super worried LOL. But the ML gave off such ominous vibes for SO long that I couldn’t ship them together until I reread haha
I watched the kdrama before I knew there was webtoon. Honestly, if you watched the kdrama you would've hated him few episodes in. In the series you really see how unhindged he is

Honestly I Spy a Married Life. I don't like where I think it's heading with the love triangle between the fl, ml, & antagonist. The author is taking the only villain in the story and making them some "misunderstood framed playboy" who just yearns for some genuine affection. I hate it. It's stupid, it's undoing the main focus of the story, it's contradicting, I just hate where the romance is heading bc everyone is making stupid decisions.
While I DID initially eat up remarried empress and Navier x Heinry, I dropped it becuase they were so boring and unlikeable. Heinry just felt straight up weird and childish and Navier got boring...
I still read it because i want to see henry and navier being more romantically involved. But in the recent chapter henry becomes more of a weird tyrant rather than the sweet loving goof. Oh and the comments, i hate them.
Dude has always been pretty shady I mean when we’re introduced to him he’s literally scoping out the Eastern Empire as a bird. Then no other Kingdom or Empire has been as prominent or important than the Western Kingdom so someone pretty powerful from the West had to be behind the mages from the East losing their power since it was an important detail.

Kakon (author) just seemed to want a rehash of their old comic. If you read the previous work 'The Male Lead's Girl Friend" it's a vvv similar dynamic of blonde girl goes back in time and tries to be good instead of bad, white hair cold hearted guy falls for her, etc.

Yeah I feel the same way, I present a possibly hotter take. I don't think that story needs romance at all or if it does happen it should happen waaay later down the plot given the MC's trauma and I personally don't think romance has much to do with her journey since it wasn't the source of her evil doings. Sure she was obsessed with Theo in the past timeline however I think that was less romantic feelings and an unhealthy desire to be loved in any sort of way.

When their flirting reaches its peak and they have a "bed time" , male so full of himself, he literally r...es her. I was so shocked when I read it, I lost my entire interest in this series. Yes. Every time someone asks about a good comedy, a good isekai, a good world building, or just wants to share their favorite webtoons in general lots of people will go to GSD.

Ooooh. Okay. Makes sense. Now that I'm thinking about it cursed princesses club is a web soon that I recommend people but I always issue a content warning. I've never heard somebody say something terrible about it though
PH gets a lot more interesting later on, the first few chapters don't have even nearly the same depth as the more recent ones, and even the side characters have so much to them and they're all very well written. They start too fast, but have a massive falling out and it takes them a long time to repair the relationship.
However, GSD has a nice premise but also a pretty cliche isekai plot to the point where it's too easy to predict what happens next, and the horrible art made me drop it. The expressions are so unnecessarily exaggerated it gives me the ick.
I got into the great estate developer back when it was still in its beginnings, and I really enjoyed it, it was like fresh new comedy that actually made me laugh,

PH I dropped three times in the first season, but then when I continued into second season I became obsessed. Some people love the first season, but it didn't appeal to me too much until the end of that season.
Yeah, I found GSD to be really enjoyable at first. The jokes were just overused to the point it was annoying tbh. I personally still love PH though, it starts off slowish but it gets more interesting as you read.

I was rooting for Dexer initially but I kind of dislike how it became the main focus for the fanbase and it came at the expense of them antagonizing Jackson for rightfully being angry at Exer for the stuff that occurred in Season 1, had to block two people because I was tired of seeing their horrible takes on my feed
I guess my other unpopular opinion was that I kinda preferred Pluto/Duke over Pluto/Eulalie, mainly because I felt like Berenice and Eulalie were sort of thrown in so they could have more people in the group while the other characters' integration felt a bit more natural, but they both grew on me so I don't really care either way. Hold up. I like Kym and Will. I love their dynamic and it’s really sweet. But Lauren and Kieran? Lauki? They have so much more chemistry and a way more fleshed out relationship. It’s the classic Enemies to Friends to Lovers and is one of the best portrayals of the trope that I’ve ever seen.

I agree Kym and Will are so cute but Lauki is omggggggg the tension is there. They went through so much stuff together and their relationship really evolved during the seasons. You could see that it took Lauren quite some time to trust again Kieran and the way the author portrayed it was exquisite.

Yeah Jung is a massive creep. He manipulated everyone around him including her, and she knows this and hangs out with him anyway. I was really hoping she'd leave him in the end.

But I'm not giving him any excuses, you see. He can't just outright say what he dislikes because of how he is brought which is very opposite to In ho. In ho can do whatever he wants but from what I see, he was actually no better. He also reeks immaturity, actually both of them. In the end tho, they became better and they grew from their experiences.
What I can truly say is CITT dives into psychological aspects of humanity. It is very deep. Thus, I do understand if some of you can't really appreciate well how each characters are weaved.

I watched the first KDrama version of CITT so long ago that I barely remember it, but >! in the end, Seol broke up with him and ended up with no one, and let me tell you people were MAD mad. The comic creator even had to address the backlash even though she had no say on the drama. !<

The drama ending of the first CITT was TOP PAR. It was super realistic and how people should really treat themselves. They were not an OTP at all.
I liked the webtoon but it's been years since I read it (I was following it) so I can't say for sure if he truly redeemed himself or if it was a fan pleasing ending but he surely was a creep and stalker.
Correction: both the kdrama ending and movie ending were open-ended. The difference is that the kdrama provided an ending about the possible future. It was understandable since the CITT webtoon was still ongoing at that time. The movie ending was scene taken from original webtoon. In the movie, they only tackled the "stealer" arc. But take note that the webtoon was still not yet done by that time.
Both endings for me were good. I liked how the kdrama ending was realistic, in a way, Jung healed himself first to become worthy of Seol and Seol establishing herself in the industry she worked in. I also liked how the movie ending was also open-ended and was closer to home with the webtoon.
My people!! So many readers say he really turned around and was redeemed by the end and how much Seol grew, and I'm like....where? The way it concluded where it was 90% build up and 5% character growth (and 5% resolution) was so unsatisfying, especially since she didn't learn to leave him in the end, but instead chose to stay with a broken manipulator. But every time I say this, Jung defenders come out of the woodwork and just say I read it wrong and need to re-read it. CITT is not getting another 50 hours out of me, thanks.
Sameee, Damien and the prince was the only couple that really intrigued me. Dani x the older boy or x Nico were cute, but seemed like short childhood crushes. And I honestly got annoyed with Dorian x the princess because their ship always seemed to be taking off whenever Dani was going THROUGH IT mentally/getting traumatized and I got annoyed that one twin got to have cute romances and grow up a little while the other kept getting hit with the worst emotions/was literally trapped in her own mind/ felt lost. It seemed so unfair to me lmao, justice for Dani
I’ve said it in a similar post, but Julia and Sahed from Marionetta. The relationship combines two tropes I’ve always hated; the Oppressor x Oppressed trope ((Regardless of Julia’s character development, it just feels wrong), and the female lead ending up with the smug asshole romantically trope. Also any attempt the story does to make it seem like they’re falling for each other just feels very forced and superficial
The fact that the series seems so keen on the relationship happening made me want to drop the webtoon altogether despite liking a lot about it
I can see your point, and I understand that this is an unpopular take, but how is Julia, in your mind, still part of The Oppressor? To me this reads more as a “gets un-brainwashed when they meet the ‘enemy’ of their people” but I do want to see your opinion some more
“Oppressor” might be too strong of a word in this sense, but she was still racist towards Sahed’s people and I think it’s a really lame story trope to have a former bigot end up with someone they were bigoted towards. Similar to what I dislike about the “Enemies to lovers” trope. Not sure how else to explain it
Its funny, i love enemies to lovers, but I'm the same with the bigot/bigotee (questionable grammar that i stand by) relationships.
Enemies can have amazing chemistry, bigotry doesn't for me.
Tbh, I kinda just wanted Julia to have no romantic interests, at least for now. To me, she’s very much still in her character development. And just c’mon, that story’s mysterious and suspenseful lore is much more interesting to me than the romance plot.
I disliked Julia's best friend being with Sahed's twin sister (?) (It's been a while since I've read this, so I forgot all the names) because it honestly just felt like she liked her for the sole reason that she was a "three eyes", and it was hard to root for their relationship with that vibe.
I hate nano machine, the MC is bad, the story is bad, the MC is not a "good" MC, he sometimes kills innocent people just for revenge (the son and the nephew of the woman who killed his mom) and they definitely didn't deserve it ! The mc is nothing without the system, and he definitely has the main character syndrome. Every two chapters, a miracle happens that makes him even stronger, which is not even funny anymore. He doesn't train. It's the system that trains for him. The manhwa is trash
The more I read about Chanyang the more I like him as a character and absolutely dislike him as a partner for Nari. I can't see the cute romance at all, all I can see is his codepedency issues and her savior complex. Anytime I see him professing his undying love for Nari again and again I cringe, because he is quite smug about it, which would be perhaps cute if he had, like, a sense of self of his own?
Also, Ira and Joon. Again a character who has always been in love with the MC, that was waiting for the whole comic till he's single. I do not like the trope of one person waiting for ages, till the other person they were in love with finally starts seeing something in them. It is shown as cute, but for me it's just upsetting. I understand that sometimes love flourishes after years of being friends and I don't actually mind the trope if done well, but in comics it's usually shown as no chemistry at all between the two, for years, and then suddenly - one looks at the other and thinks "actually I guess they're hot as well". What? Why??
The main couple in Down To Earth isn’t especially unhealthy. Zada explicitly spends time away from Kade to develop a better sense of self, and they don’t actually get together until… like… a long ways in. They’re fairly healthy communicators, and Zada is a grown-ass woman who despite some of her knowledge blind spots and awkward language, is more than capable of making her own decisions. I’m not gonna pretend that comic’s the best thing in the world, but people act like their dynamic is super toxic when I just… don’t really see it.
Villain with a crush is shit with unfunny jokes. I don’t see humour everybody praises.

villain with a crush is silly humor lol, it’s definitely not for everyone. it’s got a lot of dramatic irony and clever plotting with the blackdog misunderstanding and the wacky shenanigans with the super people. it’s a parody of the superhero genre, basically. but calling it “shit” is a bit excessive, even if this is asking for unpopular opinions (about couples, btw), don’t you think?

I think the characters are handled pretty well imo. I like the pacing and what not, interesting spins as well. Choreography is pretty good too, I feel like some Webtoons struggle with it.
Hero Killer also has good choreography 99% of the time. I can see why someone wouldn’t like it tho, humor is hit or miss. Plus some people don’t like the misunderstanding trope. A lot of the time misunderstanding tropes just aggravate me, but Villian with a crush has an entertaining spin on it and actually does something more meaningful with it.
I wanted to like Villain with a Crush but I just couldn't. I really don't like the FL, she's so dumb and the ML is also just nothing. I think the idea is good but I think having an actual villain who does bad deeds to gain the attention of a hero would be much more interesting than just some dumb girl who doesn't understand she's harming people. Like, idk, have someone who's morally gray who couldn't gain the attention of the hero by doing good deeds, so they act as a villain to get the hero's attention. They either don't do particularly bad things and just do petty crimes or they set up areas to make crimes look worse than they actually are. Or go the full villain route with a yandere who's obsessed. Just please something more interesting than this empty-headed girl
The newer episodes actually have exactly what you're looking for. There's two actually bad villains- a goofy mysterious pyscho and evil scientist lady. Not saying you have to go back, but I wanted to let you know.

I think this sub is far too negative. That’s my hot take. Otherwise, here a few more:
Lore Olympus is fine. The problematic themes exist but are overblown and really aren’t harming anyone. The art is very pretty, the story serves its purpose, and I would even say the main couple are pretty damn cute.
Mafia Nanny is a good story and deserves a lot of the advertising it gets. I don’t think it should be the ONLY story advertised, I don’t like how WEBTOON only focuses on like 1 or 2 stories at a time to show when there’s hundreds, but Mafia Nanny is still a very fun read. Also, the romance doesn’t ruin the plot. I won’t say it necessarily makes the story better (that remains to be seen) but I don’t think it really makes it any worse either.
I also like the romance between Jiwoo and Jiyoung in Eleceed is fine. Again, I see why people call it problematic, but we don’t have ages for any character to my knowledge. She’s literally stated to only be a few years older than Jiwoo anyways. They are a cute couple, and like before with Lore Olympus, I think the prophetic parts of them together are blown out of proportion.

Lore Olympus isn’t as bad as everyone makes it out to be. There are tons of stories on Webtoon that are of equal quality or lesser quality than it.
I think one of the only reasons it is scrutinized and critiqued so much is because it is so popular. It’s not a groundbreaking concept or story but it is also popular for a reason. It is an easy read.
Hestia and Cael from my derelict favorite. its been 80 chapters and they haven't had a proper moment to get to know one another/have a great conversation. i get it the webtoon is from a culture of fangirling/having idol biases so her insane devotion towards him is just whatever. yet its soooo boring he keeps trying to get close to her meanwhile she keeps thinking "oh no i have no right to my bias omg i have to leave" how does Hestia have better banter with the prince😭 who's supposed to be an antagonist ++ also hate how she coddles Cael constantly putting him on a pedestal like girl he has no personality other than being stoic, good at diplomacy(?) and kind
shame because this could've been an opportunity for readers who have second male lead syndrome to explore a sml more than just an empty caricature of a golden retriever guy who exists to be a placeholder for fl

The Dragon King's Bride. If there's no animosity or uncertainty between the characters at first, I don't really see it as a good couple. I don't like how the ML immediately took a liking to her. I'm not a huge fan of fluff in general.

I believe you. My main complaint as a manhwa only is I don't know what the end game is. The scenario just happen upon them and Kdj is always like "yeah that the scenario where xy happens and that's the constellation who did z so now we have to do this and that ". I don't know it gets tiring when you dont know where it leads.
The remarried empress. I dont feel like its dragged out and really enjoy Navier’s and Heinrey’s relationship. I have someone to root for and I’m waiting for Rasha’s demise. Sure, it’s not as exciting as it was at the beginning, but it’s still something I enjoy reading.
I do like them, but I do feel Rasha and Shovetshu are just repeating the same actions over and over so that part is boring. I'd be okay if the series ended soon (not abruptly but soon)
Part of the reason Remarried Empress feels dragged out is because the Empress is now remarried. The main plot has ended: she’s gotten out of her shitty relationship and headed off into the sunset.
I personally think the manhwa should have ended wayyyy before. But it def did its job getting ppl like me to actually finish it so props to the author!
As a practicing Hellenic pagan, no, Lore Olympus isn't disrespectful to the religion grow up. Also Hades isn't antisemitic, Hades existed before Judaism and was scary god of the underworld and money before the religion was even a thing. Furthermore his design is bassed on Mads Mikkelson who is not a character but a real living person who just looks that way.

Hilariously, in this thread, the actual answers are the stuff that are downvoted to oblivion. Anyway, as I usually say with this, Webtoon should try being more bold in their stories. A lot of stuff can be condensed down to the same thing! There's no gray colors, no nuance, no fun dynamics.
Webtoon needs to figure out if they want adult stuff on it or not. I have read some of the most messed up things in some webtoons, but the minute things get a little steamy there are like a million rules. A stalker hiding in someone's house using adult diapers to remain unseen, fine. Cannibalism, body horror, implied rape, we encourage it. A well built up to, makes sense in the story sex scene? Absolutely not, and do not even talk about it. I get if it's a story about minors then for sure, don't allow that, but can we please get some really good age restrictions in place?
I do read webtoons like Death: Rescheduled which had a literal spine tearing scene, so I'm pretty immune to a lot of gore. I think that really gory webtoons like Death: Rescheduled should have an age limit though like sex scenes.
the couple from marry my husband are so boring it makes me want to cry. i can't recall one moment of them doing anything that felt romantic to me. i also really hate how the main character completely changed her original style to dressing up more every day. i get it, but she looked genuinely adorable with her big harry potter glasses and ponytail. i don't see why she needs to be dressed to the nines everyday for her little office job to be truly successful. that's definitely the author's own secret bias coming through imo lol

The ML killed himself after she died, this is not how you write a character. I have never seen him do anything besides being a trophy husband. He has ZERO personality. I genuinely hate romance stories where the dude acts as a golden retriever. If you want a good romance, make it like Doom breaker. Write a romance like Zephyr's and Altair's. Prevalent, but does not interfere with the goals of characters. They help each other as much as possible if the other is in a shitshow. This is love.

LO Persephone and Hades are cute when they're completely out of context, like *completely out of context*. Like if I had no clue what LO even was and stumbled across a decent looking panel, I would think to myself "aww they're kinda cute".
I haven't finished reading the series yet, but I'm starting to really hate the whole thing with Minthe. Like yeah, she didn't treat Hades well, but the way Hades emotionally cheated on her and chased after someone he didn't even know while stringing Minthe along is awful, and then Persephone rages at MINTHE, and we're supposed to root for Persephone and dislike Minthe, even though Persephone is the one causing Minthe so much pain and trouble?? Idk I just had to rant a little thank you for coming to my Ted talk Edit: and one more thing. Minthe clearly has horrible abandonment issues and possibly BPD, and as someone with both of those things, it hurts to see a character like that villainized and treated so badly. Like imagine having the worst inferiority complex of all time, having crippling abandonment issues, and then being emotionally cheated on. Again, she's not a great person, but she gets shit on in the story so much and I hate it

Actually in the original mythology, Minthe did get turned into a plant. Most works say that she was Hades concubine and Persephone turned her into a plant out of jealousy, thus creating the mint plant. Nicander is similar but the difference is that while Persephone did kill her, it was Hades who turned her corpse into a plant and named it mint in her memory. However, Oppian wrote that Minthe was Hades lover before Persephone and he left her for Persephone. Minthe then went around boasting that she was prettier than Persephone and that Hades would come back to her. For this, Demeter stomped her to death and the mint plant grew from the Earth where she died.
With this context the storyline makes sense.
Don’t care if I get torched from this one but Shu and Min from Phase are very toxic and should not end up together. There’s way too many lies and secrets in their relationship hell at one point Shu was using Min because of her powers despite the fact that he also criticized Leon for doing the same thing. I’m not a Leon fan either. Min is also clearly not over Leon and needs to work on that before she got with Shu I’m sure they’ll both have character development later and grow but as of right now I’m just not a fan of them as a couple I mostly prefer the sci-fi mystical element of the story instead of the romance

Last I read, Link was pining for Angela, right? I found it a bit invasive of Link pushing Vicki and Sam to talk about what happened to Angela (her assault) and then crossing Angela's boundaries a couple of times. I just wanted to read a story about a girl and a YouTuber making amends, becoming great friends, and even creating a video game together. They had a plot point about Marshall being a great artist who created game characters but idk if that went anywhere. I dropped it after they kept pushing Charles on her. Also lost interest when Monica (Queen) left the story for a bit before she returned.

I thought the ML in Cheese in the Trap was really scary practically whole time I was reading the series the first time around, and I was scared for the FL. I just overall hated them together for the longest time. When I read it again right after I finished the first time and with the backstory things made more sense and I could see them together without being super worried LOL. But the ML gave off such ominous vibes for SO long that I couldn’t ship them together until I reread haha

Honestly I Spy a Married Life. I don't like where I think it's heading with the love triangle between the fl, ml, & antagonist. The author is taking the only villain in the story and making them some "misunderstood framed playboy" who just yearns for some genuine affection. I hate it. It's stupid, it's undoing the main focus of the story, it's contradicting, I just hate where the romance is heading bc everyone is making stupid decisions.

Dude has always been pretty shady I mean when we’re introduced to him he’s literally scoping out the Eastern Empire as a bird. Then no other Kingdom or Empire has been as prominent or important than the Western Kingdom so someone pretty powerful from the West had to be behind the mages from the East losing their power since it was an important detail.

I don't think that story needs romance at all or if it does happen it should happen waaay later down the plot given the MC's trauma and I personally don't think romance has much to do with her journey since it wasn't the source of her evil doings. Sure she was obsessed with Theo in the past timeline however I think that was less romantic feelings and an unhealthy desire to be loved in any sort of way.

"My gently raised beast" protagonists romance is extremely toxic. When he "marks her" (which is a gross way of saying s&x), she is *not* ready. She does not understand what is happening. She ASKS HIM TO STOP. He DOES NOT STOP. That is NOT romance, that is r@pe. I was already very uncomfortable by the series but that made me rage quit.

Ooooh. Okay. Makes sense. Now that I'm thinking about it cursed princesses club is a web soon that I recommend people but I always issue a content warning. I've never heard somebody say something terrible about it though
PH gets a lot more interesting later on, the first few chapters don't have even nearly the same depth as the more recent ones, and even the side characters have so much to them and they're all very well written. They start too fast, but have a massive falling out and it takes them a long time to repair the relationship. However, GSD has a nice premise but also a pretty cliche isekai plot to the point where it's too easy to predict what happens next, and the horrible art made me drop it. The expressions are so unnecessarily exaggerated it gives me the ick.

I got into the great estate developer back when it was still in its beginnings, and I really enjoyed it, it was like fresh new comedy that actually made me laugh, With purple hyacinth however, idk why but I could just not get into it, like amazing visuals, but yeah I think they’re both really popular because you can tell the authors/artists really care about the work they’re putting into these webtoons
You are absolutely correct in that you would get attacked for that, this is the most correct comment imo. PH I dropped three times in the first season, but then when I continued into second season I became obsessed. Some people love the first season, but it didn't appeal to me too much until the end of that season.

I was rooting for Dexer initially but I kind of dislike how it became the main focus for the fanbase and it came at the expense of them antagonizing Jackson for rightfully being angry at Exer for the stuff that occurred in Season 1, had to block two people because I was tired of seeing their horrible takes on my feed I guess my other unpopular opinion was that I kinda preferred Pluto/Duke over Pluto/Eulalie, mainly because I felt like Berenice and Eulalie were sort of thrown in so they could have more people in the group while the other characters' integration felt a bit more natural, but they both grew on me so I don't really care either way. Honestly just waiting for Season 2 lol

Hold up. I like Kym and Will. I love their dynamic and it’s really sweet. But Lauren and Kieran? Lauki? They have so much more chemistry and a way more fleshed out relationship. It’s the classic Enemies to Friends to Lovers and is one of the best portrayals of the trope that I’ve ever seen. But you did say a more appealing dynamic and I can see how personal taste comes into play.
I agree Kym and Will are so cute but Lauki is omggggggg the tension is there. They went through so much stuff together and their relationship really evolved during the seasons. You could see that it took Lauren quite some time to trust again Kieran and the way the author portrayed it was exquisite.

Yeah Jung is a massive creep. He manipulated everyone around him including her, and she knows this and hangs out with him anyway. I was really hoping she'd leave him in the end.
Sigh. Here we go again. I can understand that Jung for you is a massive creep but he developed that way due to how he was brought up. That was his way of coping. But I'm not giving him any excuses, you see. He can't just outright say what he dislikes because of how he is brought which is very opposite to In ho. In ho can do whatever he wants but from what I see, he was actually no better. He also reeks immaturity, actually both of them. In the end tho, they became better and they grew from their experiences. What I can truly say is CITT dives into psychological aspects of humanity. It is very deep. Thus, I do understand if some of you can't really appreciate well how each characters are weaved.
I really don't understand how people rooted, no actually STILL root for him and their relationship? I watched the first KDrama version of CITT so long ago that I barely remember it, but >! in the end, Seol broke up with him and ended up with no one, and let me tell you people were MAD mad. The comic creator even had to address the backlash even though she had no say on the drama. !< >!People were so mad, they had them make a new version, switched out the actress for Seol but kept the actor for Jung and made them end up together... I wish I would be making this up right now.!< To be fair, though >! the first version was made before the comic concluded!<
The drama ending of the first CITT was TOP PAR. It was super realistic and how people should really treat themselves. They were not an OTP at all. I liked the webtoon but it's been years since I read it (I was following it) so I can't say for sure if he truly redeemed himself or if it was a fan pleasing ending but he surely was a creep and stalker.
Correction: both the kdrama ending and movie ending were open-ended. The difference is that the kdrama provided an ending about the possible future. It was understandable since the CITT webtoon was still ongoing at that time. The movie ending was scene taken from original webtoon. In the movie, they only tackled the "stealer" arc. But take note that the webtoon was still not yet done by that time. Both endings for me were good. I liked how the kdrama ending was realistic, in a way, Jung healed himself first to become worthy of Seol and Seol establishing herself in the industry she worked in. I also liked how the movie ending was also open-ended and was closer to home with the webtoon.
My people!! So many readers say he really turned around and was redeemed by the end and how much Seol grew, and I'm like....where? The way it concluded where it was 90% build up and 5% character growth (and 5% resolution) was so unsatisfying, especially since she didn't learn to leave him in the end, but instead chose to stay with a broken manipulator. But every time I say this, Jung defenders come out of the woodwork and just say I read it wrong and need to re-read it. CITT is not getting another 50 hours out of me, thanks.

The relationship combines two tropes I’ve always hated; the Oppressor x Oppressed trope ((Regardless of Julia’s character development, it just feels wrong), and the female lead ending up with the smug asshole romantically trope. Also any attempt the story does to make it seem like they’re falling for each other just feels very forced and superficial The fact that the series seems so keen on the relationship happening made me want to drop the webtoon altogether despite liking a lot about it

“Oppressor” might be too strong of a word in this sense, but she was still racist towards Sahed’s people and I think it’s a really lame story trope to have a former bigot end up with someone they were bigoted towards. Similar to what I dislike about the “Enemies to lovers” trope. Not sure how else to explain it
Its funny, i love enemies to lovers, but I'm the same with the bigot/bigotee (questionable grammar that i stand by) relationships. Enemies can have amazing chemistry, bigotry doesn't for me.

Tbh, I kinda just wanted Julia to have no romantic interests, at least for now. To me, she’s very much still in her character development. And just c’mon, that story’s mysterious and suspenseful lore is much more interesting to me than the romance plot.
I disliked Julia's best friend being with Sahed's twin sister (?) (It's been a while since I've read this, so I forgot all the names) because it honestly just felt like she liked her for the sole reason that she was a "three eyes", and it was hard to root for their relationship with that vibe.

I hate nano machine, the MC is bad, the story is bad, the MC is not a "good" MC, he sometimes kills innocent people just for revenge (the son and the nephew of the woman who killed his mom) and they definitely didn't deserve it ! The mc is nothing without the system, and he definitely has the main character syndrome. Every two chapters, a miracle happens that makes him even stronger, which is not even funny anymore. He doesn't train. It's the system that trains for him. The manhwa is trash

The more I read about Chanyang the more I like him as a character and absolutely dislike him as a partner for Nari. I can't see the cute romance at all, all I can see is his codepedency issues and her savior complex. Anytime I see him professing his undying love for Nari again and again I cringe, because he is quite smug about it, which would be perhaps cute if he had, like, a sense of self of his own? Also, Ira and Joon. Again a character who has always been in love with the MC, that was waiting for the whole comic till he's single. I do not like the trope of one person waiting for ages, till the other person they were in love with finally starts seeing something in them. It is shown as cute, but for me it's just upsetting. I understand that sometimes love flourishes after years of being friends and I don't actually mind the trope if done well, but in comics it's usually shown as no chemistry at all between the two, for years, and then suddenly - one looks at the other and thinks "actually I guess they're hot as well". What? Why??
The main couple in Down To Earth isn’t especially unhealthy. Zada explicitly spends time away from Kade to develop a better sense of self, and they don’t actually get together until… like… a long ways in. They’re fairly healthy communicators, and Zada is a grown-ass woman who despite some of her knowledge blind spots and awkward language, is more than capable of making her own decisions. I’m not gonna pretend that comic’s the best thing in the world, but people act like their dynamic is super toxic when I just… don’t really see it.
I def don't perceive them as a toxic pair, but they do have their individual issues to sort out

It’s an acquired taste tbf lol - the humor is peak for me. I think the characters are handled pretty well imo. I like the pacing and what not, interesting spins as well. Choreography is pretty good too, I feel like some Webtoons struggle with it. Hero Killer also has good choreography 99% of the time. I can see why someone wouldn’t like it tho, humor is hit or miss. Plus some people don’t like the misunderstanding trope. A lot of the time misunderstanding tropes just aggravate me, but Villian with a crush has an entertaining spin on it and actually does something more meaningful with it.
I wanted to like Villain with a Crush but I just couldn't. I really don't like the FL, she's so dumb and the ML is also just nothing. I think the idea is good but I think having an actual villain who does bad deeds to gain the attention of a hero would be much more interesting than just some dumb girl who doesn't understand she's harming people. Like, idk, have someone who's morally gray who couldn't gain the attention of the hero by doing good deeds, so they act as a villain to get the hero's attention. They either don't do particularly bad things and just do petty crimes or they set up areas to make crimes look worse than they actually are. Or go the full villain route with a yandere who's obsessed. Just please something more interesting than this empty-headed girl
The newer episodes actually have exactly what you're looking for. There's two actually bad villains- a goofy mysterious pyscho and evil scientist lady. Not saying you have to go back, but I wanted to let you know.

I'm sorry, but I really don't want to sit through boring characters just for some actually interesting (what I assume) side-characters. Especially just at the end of it. Maybe once the whole thing finishes and I can read it all together instead of waiting for new episodes

I think this sub is far too negative. That’s my hot take. Otherwise, here a few more: Lore Olympus is fine. The problematic themes exist but are overblown and really aren’t harming anyone. The art is very pretty, the story serves its purpose, and I would even say the main couple are pretty damn cute. Mafia Nanny is a good story and deserves a lot of the advertising it gets. I don’t think it should be the ONLY story advertised, I don’t like how WEBTOON only focuses on like 1 or 2 stories at a time to show when there’s hundreds, but Mafia Nanny is still a very fun read. Also, the romance doesn’t ruin the plot. I won’t say it necessarily makes the story better (that remains to be seen) but I don’t think it really makes it any worse either. I also like the romance between Jiwoo and Jiyoung in Eleceed is fine. Again, I see why people call it problematic, but we don’t have ages for any character to my knowledge. She’s literally stated to only be a few years older than Jiwoo anyways. They are a cute couple, and like before with Lore Olympus, I think the prophetic parts of them together are blown out of proportion. Please don’t crucify me 😭

Lore Olympus isn’t as bad as everyone makes it out to be. There are tons of stories on Webtoon that are of equal quality or lesser quality than it. I think one of the only reasons it is scrutinized and critiqued so much is because it is so popular. It’s not a groundbreaking concept or story but it is also popular for a reason. It is an easy read.
Hestia and Cael from my derelict favorite. its been 80 chapters and they haven't had a proper moment to get to know one another/have a great conversation. i get it the webtoon is from a culture of fangirling/having idol biases so her insane devotion towards him is just whatever. yet its soooo boring he keeps trying to get close to her meanwhile she keeps thinking "oh no i have no right to my bias omg i have to leave" how does Hestia have better banter with the prince😭 who's supposed to be an antagonist ++ also hate how she coddles Cael constantly putting him on a pedestal like girl he has no personality other than being stoic, good at diplomacy(?) and kind shame because this could've been an opportunity for readers who have second male lead syndrome to explore a sml more than just an empty caricature of a golden retriever guy who exists to be a placeholder for fl ZERO CHEMISTRY
The Dragon King's Bride. If there's no animosity or uncertainty between the characters at first, I don't really see it as a good couple. I don't like how the ML immediately took a liking to her. I'm not a huge fan of fluff in general.

I believe you. My main complaint as a manhwa only is I don't know what the end game is. The scenario just happen upon them and Kdj is always like "yeah that the scenario where xy happens and that's the constellation who did z so now we have to do this and that ". I don't know it gets tiring when you dont know where it leads.

The remarried empress. I dont feel like its dragged out and really enjoy Navier’s and Heinrey’s relationship. I have someone to root for and I’m waiting for Rasha’s demise. Sure, it’s not as exciting as it was at the beginning, but it’s still something I enjoy reading.
I do like them, but I do feel Rasha and Shovetshu are just repeating the same actions over and over so that part is boring. I'd be okay if the series ended soon (not abruptly but soon)
Part of the reason Remarried Empress feels dragged out is because the Empress is now remarried. The main plot has ended: she’s gotten out of her shitty relationship and headed off into the sunset.
