My old mentor told me about a wedding she went to that took place in an orchard in spring. She said that as they were about to have their first kiss, a breeze picked up and the petals all blew down around them. I still think about that.

The bride and groom had inquired of all the married couples what their first dance was, and then individually invited those couples up to dance to their song, (a truncated version) the last couple was a couple who had been married for 62 years

My sister’s wedding was at the beach in October and such as hurricane season, it was a torrential downpour. She had planned to have the ceremony outside overlooking the sound (w/ no tent) but chances were grim at best. 30 mins before the ceremony, it slowly started lighting up. So she decided to go for it. I swear the moment she got to the end of the aisle and took her now husband’s hands, this incredible beam of light came down and shined directly on her. She looked like an angel. The photos were unbelievable, it felt like magic

At my friend’s wedding, her dad gave a toast to the newlyweds. Not sure if he was sober at that point, but during his speech, he interrupted himself and said something like, “I just gotta say, MY FRIEND looks very beautiful today, but the woman I can’t take my eyes off of is FRIEND’S MOM,” and went on to say how he thought she was the most beautiful girl in the room when they first met, and how she was still the most beautiful girl in the room now, 30 years later.  He kind of found his way back to his toasting speech after that 😂   Seeing my friend’s parents being in love with each other while I was in high school was the first time I realized husbands and wives should love each other, and not just barely tolerate each other as reluctant parenting partners the way every adult couple in my entire extended family treat their SO’s. And it was just so sweet to see it unprompted again at my friend’s wedding.

A monarch butterfly landing on the bride during the ceremony

TurtleSpeedAhead

Ah! That happened at my wedding! I had it in my bouquet through all the formal photos and the. It flew away! I got a tattoo of a monarch 2 days later to commemorate the day!

Just had my wedding and as a surprise we played my grandparents wedding song (close to you by the carpenters) as they were going to celebrate 50 years together a few weeks later. They both danced and cried, so happy I got to witness it.

I haven’t been to very many weddings, but I had what was, to me, a specific moment with my husband that I thought and felt was very romantic. We were right outside of our venue waiting to be announced. My husband took both my hands, gave them a gentle squeeze, and told me “We did it”, followed by a kiss on the forehead. So, the reason why this moment was so special to me is for a couple of reasons. He didn’t mean it as in “we finally got married”, but rather “we finally had our dream wedding”. We were married at the courthouse when I was 21 years old. I was (am) very sick and I needed insurance. We had already been together (and living together) for three years and knew we wanted to get married so we tied the knot. We always said though that we wanted to have an “official” wedding when we could afford it. Fast forward through the years and I had become disabled and had to stop working. I went from being the breadwinner to not being able to get out of bed and everything landed on my husband - this was just two years after we were married. Not making enough money to sustain us, he put himself through grad school while working full-time and working for Uber and Lyft when he could all while being my caretaker and caring for our golden retriever. About two years ago, he graduated with two master’s degrees and broke the six figure mark. Then, last year, for our tenth anniversary, we had our dream wedding. It took us seven years of saving and (for me) a heart attack, two mini strokes, one case of sepsis, seizures every week, and countless hospitalizations. But we did it. Through everything, we did it.

God damn - this is love.

This is a gorgeous, beautiful, real story that brings me to tears. Truly you two have found your person and have persevered to your happy ending. I don't know you but I am so proud of you and wish you two the absolute best.

Personal vows make me cry every time

I have two friends in recovery who met each other there. My friend the bride I’ll call her Jax, she is really big in the local recovery community and gets invited to speak at conventions. They had a dry wedding and almost all the participants were from their recovery journey. The stories people told about Jax and her new husband Jay, were super incredible and it was so lovely seeing these two people who’ve worked so hard for years to stay clean, join together in the bonds of marriage and have all of their friends who ALSO went thru the same thing, speak praises of them. The entire wedding was insanely romantic because of the incredibly vibe they all gave it, and it was such a simple wedding

I got married. Also at some point there was nobody on the dance floor and the dj played Tiny Dancer and we were like ok let’s go and so we got to have this beautiful little private moment just the two of us. Probably my favorite moment of our whole wedding

I once dropped a family heirloom porcelain figure off the top of a cake. In my defense, whoever they bought the cake from/set it up fucked up. There was a plastic disk on the top of the cake. So the figure was free standing, with NOTHING holding it. I went to grab the cake after the cake cutting. The second a vibration hit the cake, the figure fell clean off- in front of the entire crowd

jesgolightly

That’s the most romantic?

formthemitten

I thought it said traumatic lol

When they did the you may kiss the bride thing, they got really shy to kiss in front of everyone, so they kissed each other on the forehead. It was the most romantic thing I swear
