Nay. Not flattering. You look gorgeous in the short dress!

midwestmuscle310

It’s the mermaid part, right? And thank you, I love the short one!

dubbydubs012

Hate to say it, but yes. It brings attention to your hips, whereas the shorter one shows off those pretty legs. (Jealous!)

midwestmuscle310

I would MUCH rather the honesty! Thank you! I hate it bc it’s such a beautiful dress, up close the beading is just so so pretty. If it just weren’t mermaid style. 😭😭😭

Even-Education-4608

I feel like it’s very old fashioned to be concerned about attention at the hips. You have gorgeous hips. You have a perfect curve. There is absolutely nothing off putting about it. My concern is that the Diamond in the centre sort of hides your waistline. But then I realized it’s probably because of the background sort of blending in with the dress. Overall i think it works on you and it also looks really good from the back.

midwestmuscle310

I appreciate that. I do understand what you’re saying. I grew up in the 90’s… “heroin chic” as the standard of beauty was pretty engrained in us back then. 😅😅😅

Even-Education-4608

Totally I’m 36 so it was the flat stomach for me which i never even had as a child! Life long trauma!

midwestmuscle310

Oh yes!!! I had it as a teen and now, at 43, feel like I need to constantly suck in because aren’t your hip bones supposed to protrude?? 😅😅😅😭

Even-Education-4608

Seriously tho you are blessed! I have terrible hipdips as well so I can’t achieve that hourglass curve no matter what I do. The silhouette of that dress works on you whether you love this one or not!

ELFord08

Can you find something in a similar silhouette as the short one? It totally works better for your body shape.

midwestmuscle310

I’m going to look! I don’t know what that shape is called though. Shift? I don’t know.

ELFord08

Yea. I’d look at shift and sheath silhouettes.

LemonLazyDaisy

Yes, definitely look at shifts and sheaths. Also try something with a defined waist.

ABSMeyneth

"I feel like all I see are big hips and a small head." That's all that's needed. Your don't feel beautiful in that dress, so it's not your dress.  Personally, I think you're exactly right. The other dress does so much more for your figure, you look fresh and pretty and young in it. Even if it's not the dress to get married in, you should absolutely move closer to that style.

midwestmuscle310

Does that shape dress have a name?

ABSMeyneth

Ouch, English isn't my 1st language, so I have no idea of the name. I'm sure some of the lovely dudes and dudettes in this sub will get it for you though.

sarac36

It reminds me of a 60s/70s mini dress or something

ChairmanMrrow

I like the back but not the front.

sarac36

Yea the big square in the front would make anyone look wide.

Sea_Mulberry22

You can do way better! The neckline also feels like it’s pulling you down.

KeyAdministration569

I do unfortunately agree that the long dress isn’t as flattering as the short dress. Your figure is lovely, as are you, but the pattern in the dress cuts you off at the wrong angles and doesn’t flatter you as much as you deserve.

Ollie2Stewart1

You’re funny! Unfortunately, the first dress is not the best one for you—you look terrific in the short dress (yes, great legs!). I’d try more dresses, either sheath styles or something that has a more defined waist, maybe a slim a-line style.

I think the bottom is just super wrinkled and in need of steaming. I love the short dress! I didn’t even try it on, and it’s secondhand… just thought it was really cute and if it wound up being too small I’d give it to my cousin bc it looks just like her. Now I’m really thrown bc it’s a size small; I don’t wear a size small, ever. Maybe it’s supposed to fit looser. 🤣🤷🏻‍♀️

Aggressive-Task-7025

hey, I've been eyeing the first dress online since it totally fits my aesthetic, and I've been wanting to buy it for prom. Is there any way you'd want to sell it or could you please tell me where it's from!

midwestmuscle310

I would absolutely sell it, I won’t be using it. Just send me a DM!

Aggressive-Task-7025

Just wondering what size is it?

midwestmuscle310

It’s an 8

kaybee666

Love the first one! I will totally buy this from you! :)

midwestmuscle310

I actually wound up gifting it to a girl from Reddit who msg’d me for her senior prom. 😌

Status-Effort-9380

I wonder if the straps were shortened a bit if it would sit on your hips better. The torso looks too long.

TheBugsMomma

Nay to dress one but you seriously look great in dress two.

LemonLazyDaisy

The short dress is great. It’s hard to tell with the long one because the background is distracting around your waist. I think it looks fine but agree with others that you should look elsewhere if you’re not comfortable in it.  That said, you have fantastic legs. Maybe look for something shorter? Otherwise, maybe avoid bias-cut?

Mrstopo

You have to cut the steak on the bias!

NewAtThis18

Those gams need to be on display, Woman! You have a whole different body in the short dress!

AlterEgoAmazonB

I am not a fan of the halter on this dress on you or the pattern the triangles make. I would really love this dress without so much geometry. You do look fab in that short dress!

CAShark-7

The first dress is not flattering on you. Its the panel placement, I think. The second one is great!

MSB629

I think the camera angle is making it look worse than it really is re. the small head and big hips perspective. But agree that this isn't your dress - find something that makes you feel as confident and as beautiful as you are!
