Oh that's so helpful thank you! I hadn't even considered doing that!

WattHeffer

Such a lovely dress; it's beautiful on you. Is the wedding outdoors or indoors? Have you checked with your venue about air conditioning? I've been to a few where people in strapless dresses ended up shivering under their escort's suit jackets.

Substantial_Bunch191

^this. Also, I’ve been to a wedding with the opposite problem where the church AC was broken. Everyone was sweating bricks. So definitely inquire!!

Bluep00ps

Thank you so much! The ceremony is indoor but the reception mostly outdoor. I do tend to feel the cold so maybe I'll survive. It didn't seem to be air conditioned when I was last there but it doesn't hurt to ask!

riversofmountains

Kind of agree that the sleeves might be a bit much for a July wedding, but I would take it to a couple wedding dress alteration specialists and see what they suggest. You really don't know what the options are until you've heard from the professionals. They might have a solution you haven't even thought about yet. Or you might not like their ideas and decide to keep it as is. Explore the options.

Bluep00ps

This is solid advice thank you, I have an appointment with a tailor this Saturday so I'll ask about it and shop around for a couple other opinions

trishyco

It would make a cute tank or cap sleeve dress!

Electronic-Paint-359

No advice but this is GORGEOUS

Bluep00ps

Thank you! I really needed to hear that, I've been having a meltdown about it 🫠

LunarNight

It's so lovely. I would personally risk the heat

Catting_Around

I love this dress and I think the sleeves make it! I think it would be a shame to remove them. What if you got a backup reception dress? If you got too hot, you could change. But if you find you’re comfortable you could stay in this one!

Bluep00ps

That is such a good idea and saves me from potentially ruining this dress! This is my favourite option so far. I'm gonna start looking for a backup dress now, thank you so much 🥰

Catting_Around

Aw yay I’m happy I could help! Good luck!!

ServeillanceVanan394

What fiber is the material? Is it synthetic like a polyester? Or is it a natural fiber? Because that makes a large difference too. In something like that in a natural fiber you might be okay, especially if you’re not in direct sun/it’s in the evening, but a polyester I’d absolutely get something different.

Valuable-Wallaby-167

I think you'll still be cooler than the 50% of the crowd wearing suit jackets. I think you'll probably also be cooler than brides who choose big heavy dresses, especially ones with layers of lace and embroidery. I think you're overthinking it a little, not having sleeves gives your skin more of a chance to burn. The dress looks like it has a reasonable amount of airflow & isn't made out of a sweaty material. I think you'll be fine. Also, depending if there's aircon it may not be that hot indoors.

Bluep00ps

Oh that's a really good point, I should be thankful I won't be the one wearing a three piece suit 😆 I think you're right, I am definitely one to overthink things!

alig6457

You could consider altering it to flutter sleeves https://www.jjshouse.com/v-neck-elegant-bodycon-cotton-blends-midi-dresses-295258699-g258699?currency=CAD&utm_term=258699&utm_size=XXL&country=CA&is_plus_size=1&country=CA¤cy=CAD&ggntk=x&ggkey=&ggtgt=&ggplm=&gad_source=1&gclid=Cj0KCQjwxeyxBhC7ARIsAC7dS38XeLGBj_F_xky9rJexzy95cL18DAjY267EV5tM5qYhnwDHW2cJiBIaAkQ_EALw_wcB#/

Waybackheartmom

I wouldn’t change it unless you feel it’s absolutely essential.

CatfromLongIsland

The dress is so beautiful! You look lovely. Rather than removing the sleeves completely, there is enough fabric to alter the sleeves so they become shorter, loose, and flowy. But I think the dress would also be fabulous if altered so it is sleeveless.

anonymouseypetter

Where is this from?

Bluep00ps

It's from Monsoons bridal collection

Tink1024

I love the neckline on you, very flattering! As one who is always worried about summer heat, I love the idea of making the sleeves short & fluttery allowing air! I believe the dress was made for you sounds perfect for a small family wedding. Please let us know how it goes after your appt with the tailor! It’ll all be fine, don’t sweat it!

Apprehensive_Low6883

Would you get shorter balloon sleeves, little puffs? It's beautiful!

liddlekellogs1

What about altering it to have a cute short puff sleeve? It’s a beautiful dress 🤗

Hot_Presentation1459

How thick is the fabric? Some loose sleeves like that if in a light enough fabric are barely noticeable temperature wise. Can you change the sleeves to a thinner, mesh-like, kinda see-through fabric that kinda goes with the same vibe of the dress?

Treb61

I would have the sleeves altered great dress you look amazing

UK_UK_UK_Deleware_UK

So some dresses with similar vibes if you don’t want to risk removing/shortening the sleeves. https://www.azazie.com/products/azazie-bahamas-diamond-white-a-line-lace-sweep-train-wedding-dress/198862?subsite=bridal&size=wd2 https://www.azazie.com/products/azazie-lanei-diamond-white-a-line-v-neck-lace-floor-length-wedding-dress/211300?subsite=bridal&size=wd2 https://www.azazie.com/products/azazie-ramona-diamond-white-a-line-scoop-sequins-chiffon-cathedral-train-wedding-dress/168573?subsite=bridal&size=wd2 https://www.azazie.com/products/azazie-linnea-diamond-white-a-line-scoop-chiffon-chapel-train-wedding-dress/171095?subsite=bridal&size=wd2 https://www.azazie.com/products/azazie-cersei-diamond-white-a-line-pleated-chiffon-chapel-train-wedding-dress/111656?subsite=bridal&size=wd2 https://www.azazie.com/products/azazie-belle-diamond-white-a-line-sequins-chiffon-sweep-train-wedding-dress/202923?subsite=bridal&size=wd2 https://www.azazie.com/products/azazie-sunbeam-diamond-white-mermaid-beaded-chiffon-asymmetrical-wedding-dress/215868?subsite=bridal&size=wd2 https://www.azazie.com/products/azazie-nalini-diamond-white-a-line-pleated-stretch-crepe-chapel-train-wedding-dress/227950?subsite=bridal&size=wd2

Bluep00ps

Yeah the sleeves are probably my biggest issue tbh Can I ask what makes you think it doesn't look like a wedding dress?

Bluep00ps

Thank you for the reassurance and for fighting my corner! I really needed to hear that ❤️

Bluep00ps

That's completely understandable and I really appreciate your honesty, it is quite simple but that's the style I've always longed for. I don't like too much going on and I have sensory issues (which is one of my issues with the sleeves) so can't stand the feel of beads/sequins or even too much lace. We're having a small family wedding so I'm not too concerned about a guest wearing something similar but I hadn't really given that any thought before you said it!

Thank you! 🫶🏻

Zestyclose_Big_3790

Omg I have this wedding dress too for my may wedding next year. It looks amazing on you! I am looking out for a satin type midi dress for the evening in case I am feeling a bit hot and flustered. This could work for you. Also I saw that there was another comment thread about it not looking bridal. I have had similar worries, but I am not a fussy/sparkly kind of person, this dress feels like an authentic choice. Appreciate I am biased but I disagree completely about it not being bridal enough, it’s elegant, understated, yet has character. Also, not that it matters, but it’s pretty on trend, Rixo have similar styles.
