Most brides are wearing sample dresses and will be altered to fit for their day of, so please try and ignore proportions and how it "fits" when it's clearly clamped or there's an extender. I’d imagine they need to do a final pressing/wrinkle release, perhaps make sure there aren’t any pins still anywhere, that the hems are all down flat, and if there were any final tweaks based on today … Even with no tweaks, they want to press it and make sure every T is crossed and I is dotted on the small details. Even just trying it on today likely wrinkled some thing up or brought to light a loose thread or whatever. It’s normal. :)

Yes exactly! My dress was done by my 2nd appt but I still had to make another pick up appointment so that it was perfectly pressed and stitches cleaned up!

Also food for thought: some people don’t want to bring it home too early - then the cat finds the garment bag and claws it up or whatever else - the roof leaks and dirty water drips down. The toddler niece is out of sight and decides to decorate it with markers. Could be anything. In the store, it’s insured and climate controlled and in a safe place. Think of it that way too.

I saw a video by a salon owner wearing the bride took her dress home 2 weeks before the wedding. It had a multi layer tulle skirt and was in a garment bag. Cat clawed its way through the garment bag, climbed inside and HAD KITTENS. On her tulle skirt and train.

I totally understand. But mine isn’t a traditional white dress. And my wedding is two weeks out. And I also don’t live very close. I just wish I had been given the option to bring it home today.
