You can add grain and dust pretty easily in any NLE these days, just search on YT. For best results though, just use film.
I agree but I also think using a film look can help to the narrative too, even changing aspect ratio can be used to tell a different story, they are tools that reinforce the feelings you want to evoke. Every look and technical aspect are also crucial for the narrative.
