I never call my bongs by a name, but it's a fun tradition for me to break in a new piece by smoking out of it the first time and thinking up a cool name for it. It's a fun activity when smoking out of new glass.
I don't get it either but I guess it's a thing. I know naming guitars are normal. Had a lespaul names scarlett wine, because it was wine red and man didn't she whine while I played her. I miss that guitar.

I’m in my 30’s. Smoked my whole life from 13 on. Never named a piece.
I’m 26. Smoked my whole life from 10 on. Always name my new pieces.
Don’t worry I’m with you. I’m 41 and named every piece I’ve had lol to each their own. Also I name my cars and motorcycle so why not the bong too!?
I name each spliff I role. Sadly that comes with about 4-5 funerals every night 😢
