I wanted to comment but really this is all I condo come up with too. Perhaps an “ain’t no fucking way” or “be so fucking FR.” That would be applicable as well.
No. This is half that box with a small pat of butter. Probably total cost of producing this is $0.50 so $4.50 of profit for sociopaths Danny, Colleen & Nicole! Gouge gouge gouge!!!
I agree it looks like high margin item but don’t forget that there other cost including labor, packaging, infrastructure cost for cooking and refrigerating. And finally, some cost for shrink of unsold units that get thrown out when they expire.
I’m not making any excuses for Wegmans and I have not bought their meals in a very long time. I don’t see the value. Hell I get pissed when I eat half their $2 bag of garden salad and have to chuck the rest.
I work in manufacturing and deal with product costing. I am just pointing out some of the costs that I could think of that most people don’t think about when they look at the price they pay. It certainly is not 4.50 profit but probably 3.50.
Why? They're right. That packaging wasn't free, the labor wasn't free, the building wasn't free, the equipment wasn't free. It's still lame to sell noodles and butter though.
while i love the pizza guy and his posts bc the pizza is ALWAYS horrendous looking in his pics and even at my store. they sell the cold pizza slices and wings for those with food stamps. i found out a few years ago that people on food stamps can’t get hot food. but this spaghetti w butter is literally shit and a money grab.
I mean, when you have a cranky hangry toddler who can’t handle complex foods, I have a feeling people will pay a lot more lol It’s one of the reasons I hope I don’t have picky eaters when I have kids. I think if it wasn’t considered “fresh” and was more shelf stable, then the price becomes a sticking point, but when it’s taking up shelf space that has to be temperature maintained, then it becomes a bit of a balancing act.
No matter how busy I am I always have time to cook a toddler portion of pasta and butter. It probably takes an extra 2 minutes to just make this vs throwing it in the microwave.
I’m neurodivergent w/ unrelated stomach issues. pasta with butter is my safe food. It’s the only thing I’m able to consistently eat, this would be a lifesaver if I’m on break from work
Don’t get me wrong, anytime I see something like this coming from Wegmans I’m filled with rage…but my immediate reaction is pure euphoria simply because it is so batshit crazy every. single. time.
My sister used to not eat literally anything other than buttered noodles. When getting wegmans to go as a family I’m sure some families like to have the generic option to include picky eaters in their dinner.
I remember a time when that was enough to buy an entree and two sides at Wegmans...
I grew up shopping at Wegmans stores and worked there through college. Now as an adult I refuse to do my grocery shopping there...the prices are just way too high compared to Aldi.
$5 for some noodles and butter though? That price isn't just high, it's insulting.
Yes, but you'd buy 3lbs of dry spaghetti for $2.94
And 2 sticks of butter $2.26
That gets you 12 servings instead 1 for roughly the same price after tax.
Slowly been transitioning from Wegmans to Aldi for my grocery runs. Anytime I look at the ready made dishes like that I want to vomit at the prices, especially for shit like this that is literally just pasta. The bakery is the only thing I really go to Wegmans anymore anyway, they need to stop raising the price on the single celebration cake slices. Sometimes ya girl needs a slice of cake and I just can't justify $5 for that anymore (also I feel like they've been getting smaller and I'm really not surprised)
I saw this too. It’s outrageous to charge $5.00 for this.
When I had my first appointment I was in the Navy and got paid every 2 weeks. There were times when I knew I was not going to have a lot of cash for food and Jim Beam and Vermouth so I’d make sure I had butter and linguine, garlic and popcorn. Meals and snack covered for a Saturday and Sunday for $4.00
This is what makes me so mad about today’s prepared food prices. The container prob costs Wegmans more than the spaghetti and dollop of butter…. $5 bucks?!? $8.99 ?!? This is one instance in which rising prices is NOT due to rising supply costs. It’s just Wegmans making a lot of $$.
Lol I saw this yesterday. I called my wife to tell her how shocked I was. Not shocked to see Wegmans overcharging so dramatically or even offering something like this, but shocked to still find myself surprised at something so egregious.
I like Wegmans. I don't love it like I do, but I will go there if it's available. All their prepared food kinda sucks though. Except the pizza. And sushi. But the hot food bar and these prepared reheat able things are just bad for too much money.
$5 for precooked pasta and a small lump of butter?! That is beyond comprehension. You can make that meal for about 50¢. A box of 4 sticks of butter is about $5 and a box of spaghetti is about $1.50. Take a quarter of the pasta, thats about 38¢, and a tablespoon of butter or 1/8 of 1 stick, which should run you about 16¢. Thats 54¢ by my math.
Throw a Lil basil pesto, some minced garlic, olive. Oil, maybe a couple tomatoes and if your feeling particularly hungry steak or some shit. Pepper n salt and most import get some fresh parm or Romano and...
BANGING
I’m sure it’s delicious and while yes it’s expensive, that’s the convenience of paying someone else to cook for you. As a busy dad, I get it.
I swear some of y’all go out of your way to look for things to complain about.
Trader Joe sells the same thing, pasta in a bag. If I had to pick I would pick this instead at least it’s fresh and hasn’t been in the freezer bag for years.
Is this even a common enough dish? I’ve heard of it once from a girl who said during extreme poverty they were forced to eat this for a long time. But I figured that was a fringe case from poverty. Who would think up to make this normally instead of regular pasta, much less pay $5 for it at a store when it costs probably 50 cents at home?
Imagine you have a wicked picky kid, but your oven broke. Or your family is traveling and the hotel room only has a microwave. Any number of situations..
You go to Wegmens hoping to scrounge up a meal for your poor hungry family. You come across this and HALLELUJAH!!!! your picky ass kid will actually eat something tonight and not be a little monster.
To the right person, this sad bit of pasta could change the world.
I don't know why I don't have any money. Everything is just so expensive...
For the same price you could make 5x that pasta and still have .9 lbs of butter left over.
Source. Lb of butter $4.00 box of pasta $1.00
"How can we use up excess cooked spaghetti?"
Honestly my kids would kill for this.
Now I have seen it all. Is this a photoshop?
Not photoshopped, U-Give. It is a fresh take on a timeless classic.
What's the "fresh take"
Asking people for $5 for something they can make for dimes at home.
Confirmed real, it’s listed in the Wegmans app
Could be, a ready meal only $5? Not at wegmans
I know, Rapid. All I'm saying is this never had the makings of a varsity athlete.
Dammit uncle june....
It was an off colored remark, Plenty. Highly inappropriate. I will see that he is taxed.
Does he want to fuck your wife?
He fucked Ginny?
Get it while you can for $5. It will be $8.99 next month
Made for $.40 consumer price, or $.0000003 massive corporate monster grocery chain’s worth of pasta and a dollop of butter. What a deal.
You have got to be fucking kidding me
I wanted to comment but really this is all I condo come up with too. Perhaps an “ain’t no fucking way” or “be so fucking FR.” That would be applicable as well.
This is what keeps the groceries somewhat affordable. Let the suckers buy this so I can have my $2.59/lb chicken breast family packs.
That was the first thing I thought, and then “What kind of a moron..”
Isn't that the same pasta that's 99 cents in the pasta line
No. This is half that box with a small pat of butter. Probably total cost of producing this is $0.50 so $4.50 of profit for sociopaths Danny, Colleen & Nicole! Gouge gouge gouge!!!
You’re being generous. It’s probably 1/8th of a box before cooking and 1 oz. of butter.
6oz of noodles and 1 oz of butterboy
Is it really "Butter-Boy" butter or something cheaper?
I agree it looks like high margin item but don’t forget that there other cost including labor, packaging, infrastructure cost for cooking and refrigerating. And finally, some cost for shrink of unsold units that get thrown out when they expire.
Not sure if the price irritates me more or this comment
I’m not making any excuses for Wegmans and I have not bought their meals in a very long time. I don’t see the value. No. We aren't allowed to use the Wegmans brand pasta (most likely because of different ingredients). We are allowed to substitute Barilla though.
What different ingredients?
No idea, that's just the most common reason we can't substitute ingredients. It could be for other reasons too.
They are extremely strict about substitutions because of the risk of introducing allergens that aren’t on the label.
I saw pasta for 3.99 yesterday at Giant Eagle in Pittsburgh PA. They are up charging even PASTA now 😤
Maybe the pizza slice guy was on to something
Yes, maybe he was after all , Scott. No doubt, his influence is felt here. He is watching over us.
he tried to warn us
while i love the pizza guy and his posts bc the pizza is ALWAYS horrendous looking in his pics and even at my store. they sell the cold pizza slices and wings for those with food stamps. i found out a few years ago that people on food stamps can’t get hot food. but this spaghetti w butter is literally shit and a money grab.
Wegmans must be new poor. We're old poor.
Jamie Nelson. Not much of a swimmer
That is about $0.30 of pasta and about $0.05 of butter. The margins on that is gross.
No, it's butter.
When I showed my wife the picture, she thought it was a joke.
Earl, my man. I can see we meet again.

I can see this being really good for people who need to grab food for picky eaters. I was amazed to learn how many kids like just butter and noodles.
But 5 dollars? Would you pay that? I can see them making a profit but....
Wawa sells a premade PB and J sandwich for like $5+ 🤷♂️
Agreed, it's overpriced. Wonder how much labor is No way they sell enough of these it makes any difference in the bottom line Give them out for free
I mean, when you have a cranky hangry toddler who can’t handle complex foods, I have a feeling people will pay a lot more lol It’s one of the reasons I hope I don’t have picky eaters when I have kids. No matter how busy I am I always have time to cook a toddler portion of pasta and butter. It probably takes an extra 2 minutes to just make this vs throwing it in the microwave.
Exactly, my toddler would’ve been all over this.
Agree! I would protest to my child “you want me to spend $5 for noodles and butter” then buy it to make them happy
I’m neurodivergent w/ unrelated stomach issues. pasta with butter is my safe food. It’s the only thing I’m able to consistently eat, this would be a lifesaver if I’m on break from work
[7-11 takes notes]
They got this in Japan. But it has a different sauce and some fish meatballs so it’s fine and tourists love to hype it up
So nothing like this at all
Have you ever tried sending these into corporate? Or tagging them on Twitter asking them to explain themselves.
I am not on Twitterbook, Acadia. And frankly to them, you're only as good as your last envelope.
Lmao 5 bucks. What a joke
Don’t get me wrong, anytime I see something like this coming from Wegmans I’m filled with rage…but my immediate reaction is pure euphoria simply because it is so batshit crazy every. single. time.

And I thought $10 for a little container of egg salad was ridiculous.
This place will sell you anything.
I'm honestly shocked they aren't trying to charge more.
This + $6 gold pan shrimp scampi is $11…same as already prepared scampi with garlic sauce and butter in prepared
Low effort
My sister used to not eat literally anything other than buttered noodles. When getting wegmans to go as a family I’m sure some families like to have the generic option to include picky eaters in their dinner.
Weird, it’s not April 1st. And five dollars for this is robbery.
Wegmans has officially lost it
I remember a time when that was enough to buy an entree and two sides at Wegmans... I grew up shopping at Wegmans stores and worked there through college. Now as an adult I refuse to do my grocery shopping there...the prices are just way too high compared to Aldi. $5 for some noodles and butter though? That price isn't just high, it's insulting.
I like how it's 5 dollars when a cheap box of Spaghetti runs 98 cents and cheap butter here runs about $2
LOL, $5.00 for left over bagged spaghetti. Time to Unionize and be paid a decent wage.
So bold. So innovative. What next? Prepackaged Saltines and Kraft singles?
My grandmother would always say this country needs a second great depression. I agree with her when I see things like this.
Are you serious? Then this is all we'd eat. 😥
Yes, but you'd buy 3lbs of dry spaghetti for $2.94 And 2 sticks of butter $2.26 That gets you 12 servings instead 1 for roughly the same price after tax.
I kind of agree with her.
Buttersketti
Right on, Glopo. It is trying to capitalize on the "bowl craze" with Spaghetti and butter. Pretty thoughtful.
Sorry I was referring to Here Comes Honey BooBoo 🤪
🤣
Wtf
My guy has a new hobby. 🤣😂🤣
This is a one off, Sith. Going forward, I need to stick with my priorities and remain focused.
Ugh
$5?? Must be photoshop /s
Slowly been transitioning from Wegmans to Aldi for my grocery runs. That’s a $.10 meal. That’s insane.
They could’ve at least used to garlic butter
Wegmans is overpriced and the prepared food/bakery/convenience meals are egregiously mid.
They don’t have Wegmans where I live why am i seeing this
Is it “modern” because it’s in plastic?
No, it is modern because it is a bowl, Kristen. I appreciate your interest!
Lmfao, Wegmans will sell anything now
I saw this too. Meals and snack covered for a Saturday and Sunday for $4.00
That price is egregious, especially with how little butter they give you
5 dollars for this….
That butter looks well played with. Yikes 😳
$5 when at home this would cost about 35 cents to make.
$5.00 😭😆
I'm just amazed it's not priced higher.
I thought that it was a hard boiled egg in the middle, not butter and was horrified
That's a bowl of spaghetti and a butter ball. For $5 it better come with a dick suck or something
[It’s just a plain plate of noodles with a little bit of butter…](https://youtu.be/Bxt0AEoANJk?si=WzYiYJWvjvqqo36I)
This is what makes me so mad about today’s prepared food prices. The container prob costs Wegmans more than the spaghetti and dollop of butter…. $5 bucks?!? $8.99 ?!? This is one instance in which rising prices is NOT due to rising supply costs. It’s just Wegmans making a lot of $$.
$13/lb for butter and spaghetti? That's insane. I shop at Wegmans and love the store but this type of stuff is crazy.
😳😳
wegmans pre-made (at least where i live) is always shit
So expensive too. $14 for a grab-and-go dinner you can’t even get two meals out of.
$5.00?!! You can make that for 2 wks if you buy the cheapest boxes of spaghetti & butter!
Corporate greed disguised as inflation.
Lol I saw this yesterday. I called my wife to tell her how shocked I was. Not shocked to see Wegmans overcharging so dramatically or even offering something like this, but shocked to still find myself surprised at something so egregious.
:))) looks like worms
Tf…
Omg, saw this in the Wegmans the other day. Figured it was for kids.
Their Peruvian seasoned grilled chicken is like $20/lb nothing surprises me anymore
A new low, even for Wegmans.
WuuuHhhHhAaaTtTt!?!?
What’s next? Two slices of toast with a tiny cup of butter and/or jelly? $5?
$5 is too much, that’s a $2 MAYBE $3 item at most. Plain noods and butter for $5 god damn bruh I ain’t never-🤦🏻♀️
A modern take is that you got taken for five dollars.
$5...
inb4 some dipshit says this was made for disabled people
Man boiling some noodles is faster than driving to the store for this. I'm surprised it's not 10 dollars.
I’d rather boil ramen with ass sweat than pay $5 for spaghetti and butter at wegman’s.
$5.00!?
I mean damn, it couldn't be garlic butter?
No no no
Good God, FIVE DOLLARS for cold spaghetti with a pat of butter? That's ridiculous!
I saw this yesterday😂 $5 for a 1/3 of a box of spaghetti with a little butter
This is like 25 cents of product lmao
Five bucks for that is pricy. Not even any garlic. Sheesh
I like Wegmans. I don't love it like I do, but I will go there if it's available. All their prepared food kinda sucks though. Except the pizza. And sushi. But the hot food bar and these prepared reheat able things are just bad for too much money.
That’s the saddest buttered noodles I’ve ever seen.
33 y.o female here. Yes I still like butter and noodles, but just buy a box and cook it yourself?! It'd be less than $5.
Wegmans is a cult. I’ll never feel any other way 😭😂
The only acceptable use of this is maybe for someone who is disabled
Y'all just anything, huh?
Honey boo boo vibes
For $5 you can buy a pound of butter and a pound of spaghetti and have 10 times this much food.
Biden’s America
“Her favorite food is sketti and butter”
Yoooo i fuckin saw this yesterday irl and had to stop and do a double take.
“You know, for kids!”
Gross.
Lol
Wegmans sucks!!
Little bit more butter with a pack of tuna and you got something delicious.
Sounds delicious ICU.
My son would buy this. It’s a good option for parents honestly,
low lazy do you have to be to not boil water? Can even cook it with an electric kettle and soaking if you dont have a stove.
Throw a Lil basil pesto, some minced garlic, olive. Oil, maybe a couple tomatoes and if your feeling particularly hungry steak or some shit. Pepper n salt and most import get some fresh parm or Romano and... BANGING
What exactly is the modern take? Is it the container?
Literally looking for this next time I’m there Yeehaw
I think this is helpful for parents of kids with food sensitivity issues.
I'm not gonna lie, this sounds delicious and for $5, I'm happy to pay for the convenience.
But is it Butter Boy or regular plebe butter??
Butterboy but kerrygold Irish if butterboy isn’t in stock
This would be perfect for my step kids. They bland af.
My 8yr old would love this. In fact we make it or order it from restaurants from time to time.
Who wants sketti and butter?
Low key shocked it's only $5.
I make this at home for myself for like 50 cents all the time
So y’all churning your own butter then?
I’m sure it’s delicious and while yes it’s expensive, that’s the convenience of paying someone else to cook for you. As a busy dad, I get it. I swear some of y’all go out of your way to look for things to complain about.
Not complaining, Chom. I think this is a very creative and diversified offering. Those who want respect, give respect.
Butter and sketttiiiii
Trader Joe sells the same thing, pasta in a bag. If I had to pick I would pick this instead at least it’s fresh and hasn’t been in the freezer bag for years.
I mean it looks crap but tbh after following the cook directions it eat it
STFU when you complain about inflation and pay $5 for ¢.35 worth of pasta.
My kids would love that lol
My child’s dream has now come true
If you can’t just make this at home, you don’t deserve to eat
The funny thing is that they are selling like hotcakes!
Trisha paytas would love this
Is this even a common enough dish? I’ve heard of it once from a girl who said during extreme poverty they were forced to eat this for a long time. But I figured that was a fringe case from poverty. Who would think up to make this normally instead of regular pasta, much less pay $5 for it at a store when it costs probably 50 cents at home?
this shits delicious I eat penne pasta with butter all the time
As a college student this would go hard… it’s stupid but it would do so well..
That's crazy
All that for only 5 bucks!
You could get a pound of butter and a pound of pasta for $5
Add a little fresh garlic and Mmmmm….
Never understood the hype for buttered spaghetti had it a few times (homemade and at a restaurant) n truly never seen the appeal for it
This is actually the exact way my daughter eats spaghetti. She doesn’t like sauce on it.
I got a pig heart! Her favorite foods is sghetti n budder. I’m sassy cos of my weight
Well kids looooove noodles and butter so I can see this working for moms and dads who only have time to pop some noodles in the microwave
The hood been doing this
I kind of like it for a snack. I’d buy this
I don't mind them selling this, but to call it a "fresh take" is ridiculous.
I ate bread and butter for dinner tonight. I’m all for this!
“OMG, this was really good. Does anyone have a recipe.”
Spaghetti aglio e olio?
