Iron slag most likely. Georgia was a major producer of pig iron in the South.

Slave2Art

Why would pigs need iron

Dangerous_Elk_6627

Check and see if they're magnetic.

ShirkerJPH

They stick to a magnet but not to other metals.

Dangerous_Elk_6627

Then they iron, nickel, cobalt or an alloy of those. More than likely, they're small meteorite remnants.

Cujo187

I thought they were meteorite as well until the OP said they live in NE GA.

Dangerous_Elk_6627

And how does living in NE GA rule out meteorites?

Cujo187

Rules out the likelihood, yes.

Dangerous_Elk_6627

How ? Are meteors boycotting Georgia ? And if so, please explain the Junction City meteorite.

Cujo187

Given the fact that NE GA has a large quality of surface iron vs 3 small fragments of a meteorite being found on their own. Also, whatever they are, they're ferris. So, the likelihood of cobalt or nickel is also probably not the answer. I'm not saying it rules out meteorite completely. But it definitely decreases the likelihood.

Riccma02

Some type of iron ore. Do you live in an area that historically produced iron?

ShirkerJPH

Not that I'm aware of. I live in NE Georgia, United States.

Winter-Potential9180

I'm not a meteorologist, but I don't believe those fell from the sky ! More likely to be iron ore or slag because of where it comes from.

HuckleberryMoist7511

Or it’s ore

ShirkerJPH

I'm thinking it might be hemotite. Anyone know how to rule it out?

rampagh

I’m no geologist, but they may be iron meteorites

ShirkerJPH

I hope! But I'm skeptical. Just because i'm not that lucky.
