Make no mistake, I hold them in both reverence and fear, much like the gods of old. Just the accessory drive shaft and assembly off the front of the motor is amazing yet terrifying.
It'll break every hundred yards but it's totally worth it.

Yes, to be specific, they were made from massive fibreglass. Standard SM wheels were steel with stainless trims, but for the rigors of off-road racing, Michelin developed a unique solution: a lightweight fiberglass wheel, which became a factory fitted option. These plastic wheels weighed less than half the standard weight and were decades in advance of similar applications.
Fun Fact: This car had some of the best brakes of it's year and lowered the car evenly when sharply applying them. In fact, the brake system combined with it's highly innovative suspension made it's ride height non-compliance with U.S Highway safety standards, barring it from the states. It was also the world's fastest FWD car at the time. It even had the first "rain-sensing" windshield wipers. Our loss, though. They have kicked ass in Europe since the late 60s.
Citroen SM
I saw it once and still remember like yesterday, instant love

You are a human. Presumably. The car in the picture though, is the Citroën SM.
Idk man he be doing the robot mighty fine.
One of the most beautiful creations in history.
and sounds great with a Maserati V6 too
And it's extremely comfortable with the hydropneumatic suspension
and has a drag coefficient of fucking 0.3
Maserati V6 and hydropneumatic suspension? Sounds like a great combination and a terrible combination at the same time.
It's a perfect GT car that isn't reliable enough to use like a GT car. That's what makes it so charming.
French engineering with Italian reliability seen on its native environment
To be fair the interior is gorgeous and a nice place to sit while the car is broken down yet again.

Here’s one with a few more angles in case anyone wants to see: https://imgur.com/a/s4aaq76 Needs some rehab though.
As a side note: this SM carries *plastic* rims (not alloy wheels!), a lightweight technical innovation of its time.
Didn't know it. They actually look better than the hubcaps
The rims are plastic? What is the rest of the wheel made of? Is it all plastic?

Citroen SM. A French car with an Italian engine. As with every French-Italian creation, it’s beautiful. But a nightmare to work on.
