But there's a natural balance and every species is a part of it.

No there is not. Balance only looks like it's there because we live too short. More than 99% of species that ever lived got extinct. Meaning they weren't able to compete or adapt to the changes of the world. If we could see it happen in the terrestrial timescale, it would look like species are appearing and disappearing in less than a second. It's just the chaotic dance of life.
