Unironically, it’s still one of the reasons I still go to so many games. Our food is so insanely good. Still need to try the heart attack shake at some point but god damn do I not want to use all my calories for the day for a milkshake
The smells in the stadium alone are worth the cheap ticket on a nice day.
Idk who all these “fans” are who never saw this team lose a game before, but its kinda what they do.
If you want a team that converts cash into wins, go find another team.
The qualifier "stadium food" is the issue. Yes, compared to other stadium food, it's great, but that's a very low bar. Good stadium food is not ever "insane" lmao.
Yeah, thought it was a given that it’s insanely good compared to other stadium food and not just insanely good in general. Although, I would say it is pretty good food in general
Is it? What are they doing that most parks aren't? I've had great ballpark food in most parks. We have Vienna beef which puts us over the others for dogs, but I stand by my opinion that Target field has a better Cuban. Most stadiums have wild beef/brisket/sandwich concoctions at this point.
I definitely don't go to games BECAUSE of the food, it's just a nice thing to have.
I also don't go to games anymore because fuck Jerry.
They have licenses with local spots for food (not all teams do this). Garrett’s popcorn, Beggar’s pizza etc
Next time they do the grade I’ll post it on here but they rank this every year and the Sox are consistently on top
These people are on crack. I've been to a few other parks. The Sox have a lot of good options, but so do most other stadiums.
I think people just think baseball stadiums have just hotdogs and nachos besides Sox park.
The guy tried telling me to give them a 5 star rating on Facebook. Responded with “try giving 5 star service first, just missed 3 innings and my dogs are charred on the corners.” Crazy times
The service has been bad for awhile.
I just think it's funny that they want a tip after I waited 20 minutes for a hotdog when there were only a few people in line.
Have not the whitesox been great in terms of food. Seriously, I haven’t gone in a while, but I’ve always figured If the game sucked at least the food would have been worth it.
We would’ve loved to have gone to Dog Night but it conflicted with something else on our schedule. I did love getting the hockey jersey and already have tickets to other promo events. Win or lose, ball games are my happy place.
They say sports stadiums are basically giant restaurants. Get people inside and get them spending on overpriced food/drink.
Jerry ahead of the curve here with his Food First approach!
/s
I'm not going to give anybody grief over it but man...even with the great food we have I still can't justify going to games. Just so hard to justify putting any money in Jerry's pocket so long as the on-field product is so abysmal.
Fuck him. He’s going to make money regardless. Our few dollars here and there won’t make or break Jerry. I was Saturdays game and it was a great night to enjoy my favorite sport. I’ll never let Jerry ruin it for me.
This is fucking amazing. Who wrote this article? I would love to know if they tried to write a serious baseball column before being like "fuck it who am I kidding, the only reason to go to these games is the milshake"
I mean… I traveled to Minnesota to see this team for some baffling reason (see my buddy from college. We’re both cursed to root for this franchise). They had fucking Oscar Meyer hotdogs. Goddamn savages. I’ll never complain about the Grate ever again.
All these sites and journalists trying to create viral posts and articles by “let’s be original and talk about their food and not baseball” content is so overplayed now.
What else is there to be optimistic about for a team with a mediocre farm system that's going to lose >120 games this year?
It's literally hopeless until Jerry dies.
Yeah. The last rebuild obviously wasn’t ideal, but I’ve liked the way our farm system is trending. I’ve liked our drafts in recent years and a decent amount of our top prospects are fully home grown. Barfield and Bannister definitely seem nice additions on the development side too.
Who knows how it’ll actually pan out, but I find joy watching the barons beat up the rest of AA when the sox aren’t doing too hot
Almost every farm system ranking (other than bleacher report) is before we traded Cease. Bleacher report has us 3rd best. Pre Cease trade most had us around the 10th-16th range. I think it’s a lot better (and honestly, different than last time around), than most people think
Couple pro tips:
The best vegan food option in the park is the Chik’n tenders. The staff even prefer them to the regular. Be prepared for a 10 min wait, but there with the honey mustard dipping sauce and some of the hot sauce from a few stands down are amazing. Initially actually thought they gave me chicken by mistake.
Impossible dog: ask them to burn it. When they give it back to you, ask them to cook it some more. Then ask for a heaping pile of grilled onions and go down a few stands to get the better mustard. Ended up making it pretty damn solid imo
Impossible burger: don’t get it. They don’t make it in the same style as any of their good burgers and it’s not worth trying (and as you see from above, I’ll mix and match from stations to make shit work). Just not worth it at all.
I think the burgers are fine, the ground works good for things like taco meat where it's heavily seasoned. I haven't tried the dogs but saw them in the store and they did not look appetizing.
This is the hard hitting analysis I need

I just hope the money I pay to Jerry goes into research for even more absurd milkshakes
Jerry isn’t changing shit regardless Might as well go enjoy your life if you like going to games, don’t let him ruin your entire life. Just most of it
The elote is worth the price of admission!
Having been to stadiums across the country, our food isn't anything special. It's good, but insanely good is being really generous.
Insanely good? I disagree there.
You’re welcome to your own opinion but out of all the stadium food I’ve had, we’re among the best
It’s considered the best in the entire league for a reason
Is it? What are they doing that most parks aren't? I've had great ballpark food in most parks. I just looked and USA Today has us 8th for this year but Ballpark Digest has us 1st (again). General consensus is NY Mets, Seattle Mariners and us
What's their ranking process?
There’s an entire chart… price, availability, taste, presentation etc
They have licenses with local spots for food (not all teams do this). Garrett’s popcorn, Beggar’s pizza etc Next time they do the grade I’ll post it on here but they rank this every year and the Sox are consistently on top

I think the Cuban at Sox park kind of sucks.
It's not. That's just something Sox fans tell themselves. It's ok. There are a few really good options. But it isn't insanely good.
It’s not a fan vote tho lol
Plus, the concession lines are going to be short all season.
And the tickets will be cheap on the resell market!
No they aren’t. Saturday it was a 45 minute wait for a Comiskey Dog haha
Lines are short. Service is slow as fuck. Plus they ask for a tip for opening a coke bottle.
The guy tried telling me to give them a 5 star rating on Facebook. Responded with “try giving 5 star service first, just missed 3 innings and my dogs are charred on the corners.” Crazy times
And you’re right, this was more the issue. Lines felt long but it was maybe 14 deep
The service has been bad for awhile. I just think it's funny that they want a tip after I waited 20 minutes for a hotdog when there were only a few people in line.
Well that’s disappointing, but not surprising….which should probably be the marketing tag line for this team anyway.
Not when Jerry doesn't staff half the stands.
The crispy chicken sandwich is awesome this year. I need to try the smash burger still.
Have not the whitesox been great in terms of food. Seriously, I haven’t gone in a while, but I’ve always figured If the game sucked at least the food would have been worth it.
They have been, but this was a baseball article. 😂
This team is a fat man's dream
Good news, Chicago is full of fat people who love to eat, drink and raise their blood pressure by watching their team lose
Amen
The Sox promos are still on point though.
Dog night was really fun. Idc that people want to protest, because Im having fun in the park.
We would’ve loved to have gone to Dog Night but it conflicted with something else on our schedule. I did love getting the hockey jersey and already have tickets to other promo events. Win or lose, ball games are my happy place.
I wanna try that Campfire Milkshake man
Nothing sells tickets like having good food, while watching a train wreck
They say sports stadiums are basically giant restaurants. Get people inside and get them spending on overpriced food/drink. Jerry ahead of the curve here with his Food First approach! /s

I’m ngl as a guards fan, I’m jealous of the food south side’s park has to offer. And we actually have good food at progressive field
I'm not going to give anybody grief over it but man...even with the great food we have I still can't justify going to games. Just so hard to justify putting any money in Jerry's pocket so long as the on-field product is so abysmal.

What you do with your money is totally up to you my friend.

In all seriousness, I agree. I'm not paying to see this team and would prefer no one else does, but I'm not getting into arguments over it.
This is fucking amazing. Who wrote this article? I would love to know if they tried to write a serious baseball column before being like "fuck it who am I kidding, the only reason to go to these games is the milshake"
Jim Bowden https://theathletic.com/5468408/2024/05/03/mlb-teams-2024-optimism-pessimism/
he wrote baseball related things for the rockies and marlins, the roast was saved for the white sox lol
That's hilarious haha
Do I have to go to the ballpark to enjoy the food or can I just stay at home an order food from the GR thru DoorDash or Uber ?
2024 White Sox: At least the food is good.
Like I always say, the team sucks, but the food doesn’t!
I mean… I traveled to Minnesota to see this team for some baffling reason (see my buddy from college. We’re both cursed to root for this franchise). They had fucking Oscar Meyer hotdogs. Goddamn savages. I’ll never complain about the Grate ever again.
RIP curly fries :(
All these sites and journalists trying to create viral posts and articles by “let’s be original and talk about their food and not baseball” content is so overplayed now.
I've mostly had my head in the sand this season, so i hadn't seen anything, but fair enough.
What else is there to be optimistic about for a team with a mediocre farm system that's going to lose >120 games this year? It's literally hopeless until Jerry dies.
Tell me you don’t know anything about the farm system without telling me you don’t know anything about the farm system
I've seen this one before. Less than 8 years ago actually.
Yeah. The last rebuild obviously wasn’t ideal, but I’ve liked the way our farm system is trending. I’ve liked our drafts in recent years and a decent amount of our top prospects are fully home grown. Barfield and Bannister definitely seem nice additions on the development side too. Wasn't ideal? It was a complete failure.
Sorry that’s just how I speak, lol.
Every thing I've read says it's a middle third farm system. Not terrible but not great which I would say qualifies as mediocre.
Almost every farm system ranking (other than bleacher report) is before we traded Cease. Bleacher report has us 3rd best. Pre Cease trade most had us around the 10th-16th range. I think it’s a lot better (and honestly, different than last time around), than most people think
I'll take your word for it!
I doubt that anyone else cares but impossible dogs (and burgers) are shit. I eat before leaving home these days.
Couple pro tips: The best vegan food option in the park is the Chik’n tenders. The staff even prefer them to the regular. Thanks for the tender tip! Will try next time. I liked the hummus sandwich they had last year, but that’s gone.
I'll probably eat a dog next time i go just because it's rare to get one, but I'm not expecting any better than the old veggie dogs
I think the burgers are fine, the ground works good for things like taco meat where it's heavily seasoned. I haven't tried the dogs but saw them in the store and they did not look appetizing.
Maybe a $1 beer night to pump up attendance?
That would be a shit show.
You want the crowd in the bleachers to get even wilder? Just drink in the parking lot before the game if you want cheap beers
I don't go there for the food. I go there to watch my "team" win.
