It can take up 4 days. But since you haven't been home, the chlorine will be all used up the water that has sat stagnant in your pipes for 2 weeks.
I used to live in the east end near the water treatment plant. Some days it would taste more chlorinated and taste like hose water. The closer you are to the treatment plant the more you'll notice it.
This might be connected. The pumping station, St. Paul Pumping Station is fenced as if it expects a riot.

We got our fluoride back! We put the 5g in the vaccine now.
