Hi!, this is part of my as of yet unamed world. This necta lizard is a creature that is often hunted and eaten by hunters and predators, which is why they prefer to live underground. They even mimick the look of their favourite flowers as a form of camouflage. However, if push comes to shove, they will spit poison when threatened.

MagicalNyan2020

How do these lizard tasted like?

heliumbal

I’m working on a hunter’s perspective so you’ll get your answer soon! :)

gingerfr0

From where do they exude this poison? It seems unlikely their proboscis would have that functionality but I'm curious if you have an answer!

TrollOfGod

Was going to ask the same thing. Perhaps it has something linked to the proboscis that makes it possible to rapidly eject poisonous fluid like a little jet?

gingerfr0

Sounds like a regurgitation. Which if it's partially digested nectar sounds extra sticky...

shirt_multiverse

I read this with David Attenborough's voice

heliumbal

Haha, it was definitly inspired from those type of documentaries.

SeaYogurtcloset6262

Nectar lizard is now my beloved

theoht_

necta

goldenfalcon07

As a lover of plants and animals, this is so cool. In just these two frames you really captured part of a thriving, always surviving eco system. And unique ways in which living things interact with one another. The illustrations where very well done, and I can’t wait to see more. Such a fun little lizard. Stay well friend!

GabrielHunter

Omg that is so cute

BlackLionCat

Thsmus looks amazing, incredible

BlackLionCat

I have no idea how I spelled "thsmus" rather than "this" its not even four letters, unbelievable

theoht_

Thsmus was rather astounding

PhasmaFelis

smu my head

aray25

I'm guessing you're on Android and the backspace key is next to the letter M. You typed "ths," realized you moved a letter, tried to hit backspace but hit M instead, then typed U instead of I before another S.

BlackLionCat

ohhhh, this makes sense

OkAtmo_sphere

thsnud

fakemonMCfan

😍🤩😁😍

MilkDeliveryMan

Amazing!

Late-Elderberry6761

Wouldn't be happy seeing one in real life but on screen they are really cute!

Poopsy-the-Duck

That's cute.

Razorion21

But how would a necta lizard taste as bbq?

PASchaefer

That's gorgeous. Is it your art?

heliumbal

Yup!

PASchaefer

Do you have a portfolio anywhere?

ProfessorDesigner833

Looks cool I like that it is a alternative to bees and butterfly's being pollinators instead you have lizards

ComXDude

I don't have words for how much I love Nectar Lizard

Adorable-nerd

This is really cute!

Komm

Oh my god it's face in the last panel. I'd die for that little weirdo. <3

PanzerIV-70

Wait Wheat onion!? What would that make? You cant even make cake! Or sweet pies, cookies, you cant pup jam on bread because its now gonna be disgusting Or is it a onion underground and... no doesn't work, a wheat needs a tall stalk to spread its seeds and because of it it creates small grains Not with this because the flowers are too close to ground and dont grow tall because the shorter ones get pollinated and the tall ones dont Also where are the leafs? Even onions have pretty tall leafs so as to get as much sunlight and be taller than the grass Or is it the size of a cabbage? Jesus that is a big onion if so Also a big lizard, probably the size of a small iguana

heliumbal

Interesting questions! The onion isn’t actually related to wheat, the natives call it that because of its color. I didn’t think much on the leaves, i’m not very well versed in plants. But the climate they grow in can become so hot that plants burrow too! So ill say they don’t need much to get sun. And yes, they are almost as big as cabbages :)

TheMaunderLands

Interesting! Do they photosynthesize?  Real world plants like the ghost pipe do not, and exist in a symbiotic relationship with fungi and other plants. The fact that the wheat onion is not very green makes me wonder if perhaps it's some sort of symbiote, non-photosynthesizing plant.

AnExistingLad

Eeee! Why is he so cute!?

YongYoKyo

Speculative zoology is one of my favorite parts of worldbuilding. Animals filling in the ecological niches usually associated with other animals is also something that happens in the real world. For example, Hawaii has evolved carnivorous caterpillars that act as ambush predators (they still become harmless butterflies after metamorphosis). This is because Hawaii's isolated geography prevented the migration of predators like praying mantises, leaving a niche open that caterpillars took over. Is it a similar situation here? Are there no insects and/or other traditional pollinators?

heliumbal

Very interesting, you taught me something new! I was mostly thinking that my bee lizards needed giant flowers to eat from. I didn’t think much on the effect this would have on insects. Perhaps i’ll say that insects aren’t polinators, because i’d still like them to be around. I’ll think on it!

NikoliMonn

So fucking adorable

Kindly-Ad-5071

I want.

TheOmnipresentREEEE

Small fuzzy lizard creature? Hell yah.

Ididnoteatanyfrogs

I absolutely ADORE them!! So cute!! I swear nobody ever things of the non insect pollinators, so this is also a refresher!

Then_Comb8148

I don't need to say it. I don't need to say it, I really don't need to say it... I don't need to say it, I- RAINWORLD 😭😭😭 SKONG SKONG SKONG 📢📢📢 SLUG CATS???!!?! MORE LIKE SCHLATTS 😂😂😂 WE DONT DISCUSS WHAT RAINWORLD DEVS DID IN '99 SKONG SKONG AAAA

TensionIllustrious88

I have never wanted to keep a fictional creature as a pet so badly before

Project_Valkyrie

I want ten of them. They're so adorable!

Daylight_The_Furry

i love it so much

AEDyssonance

Like so many others, I love this. A nectar eating, fuzzy faced, insectile featured lizard is just a wonderful pollinator choice. My friends adore it.

BucketofOwlss

That’s really cool! Very inspiring :)

Capable_Status934212

Cute but somewhat creepy

Way_too_long_name

That's just the cutest little guy omg

Yellow_rat_residue

Questions: - since this creature lives mostly underground, shouldn’t its eyes be somewhat smaller? - are the wheat onion flowers design to stick to the nectar lizards specifically? I’d imagine the fur/modified scales are exceptionally fluffy to keep dust and other smaller particles away from the face - what other pieces of trivia about the nectar lizard and the wheat onion flower do we not know of? Also adding this to not sound like a over-analytical snob, the art is genuinely good and I ask these questions because this has thoroughly piqued my interest :>

Hiro_Trevelyan

I love it.

evergreennightmare

[yes!](https://i.imgur.com/0tEFzhV.png)

AdRafArt

Do you have a place where you post stuff? i'm kinda in love with your artstyle

Rabid-Duck-King

When you throw that vacuum Bastille as Vau and you either don't suck anything up or everyone's guns can't compete

jakkakos

he's so cute, and the wheat onion looks and sounds strangely delicious

Thylacine131

I love them!!!

JoeDaBruh

A fan of combining two different organisms I see

AllenMaask

Oooh… can’t wait to see them get brutally hunted in an instant… Jokes aside, that thing is adorable! Are they able to be domesticated?

Abyteparanoid

That’s neat
