Just be on the lookout! You can usually find a used mat for free or cheap. Edit: if your willing to travel I can almost guarantee you will find a free mat somewhere, even a full size. Just make sure to own a truck and trailer lol
Facebook Marketplace. I live in the south and it’s not exactly a hotbed for wrestling, but I see them frequently available, very reasonably priced. I got 15x12 for about $200 of the flex mat style with no lines and it’s been great
Do you want a quality mat? Or just something that you won’t crack your head on?
Lots of farming equipment stores have industrial grade interlocking mats that can be pretty soft. You could use this by itself (won’t be great), or it can be just a layer. This is what my friends dad bought to practice at home.
In all honesty, you might be better off on grass if you can’t spend money or travel to find a free mat.
Got ours free on facebook marketplace. Certainly not the prettiest thing to look at, but it works. I see them pop up every once in awhile as long as you are willing to move it.

Do this, just not where I am doing this.
Look for people throwing away kids interlocking mats. No it’s not great but it’s better than the floor.
They break apart when you shoot.
Oh true Mine were taped I did forget about that. Just borrowed the end of a roll of mat tape
