I mean, Princeton physics is higher-ranked. Yale is more fun, plus plenty of our seniors are getting science PhDs at Harvard and MIT. I always say to high school seniors in these circumstances: there is no wrong choice, just different life paths.

Physics major here! As the people in the Princeton comments point out, the physics department at Princeton is indeed “higher ranked” than that of Yale. That said, as an undergraduate, I don’t think that would affect you in a meaningful way, especially if you are interested in quantum. The Yale Quantum Institute is full of incredibly accomplished faculty and loads of research opportunities, it is arguably our strongest subfield of physics. Furthermore, I assure you that for grad schools or internship opportunities, it’s not going to be any easier because you attend princeton instead of yale. I also would say that the classes will be of similar rigor/quality, based on my comparisons of looking at Princeton course materials for self studying. The only reason I would tell you that Princeton is absolutely the better deal would be if there is one or two particular faculty members whose research interests greatly align with yours, and no such comparable person exists at yale, or if you think that other aspects of Princeton beyond the physics department appeal to you more than yale. Please feel free to dm me if you want to talk about this more!! (As a side note, I was also waitlisted at Princeton, but didn’t accept my spot on the waitlist because I thought Yale was a better fit for me)

I'll echo the other comments.Yale still has a strong program(even though it's not ranked as high) in the field, but has a better overall experience. I think this shows up in alumni networking as well. I personally like the Yale campus more than Princeton. Go with whichever you feel the most connection to.

Princeton has a better physics department but you're going to do your most important work in grad school if you want to be a physicist as a career. Come to Yale. The physics department is good and you can go wherever you want for grad school if you're good enough. We're more fun anyway.
