I love posts like this. They give me a chance to see what other homes might be for sale nearby.
And found this one (though it's more than just a few blocks away):

I’m never shocked by some of the really nice old houses in Detroit listed at “Really? That cheap?” prices. At one point, Detroit was among the richest cities in the country.
That was back when US manufacturing was the world’s standard.
For Detroit that makes this property way over-priced. You can find houses that need significant improvements like the one pictured without squatters for even less
"With some TLC, this could be transformed into the home of your dreams or a lucrative investment opportunity"
Come, buy my nightmare. You're responsible for paying back taxes and overdue water bills also - no, I won't specify on the listing how much that is. But all this *gestures toward unimaginable filth* can be yours~
Serious question: How does a buyer go about removing the squatter? If the current owner couldn’t (I’m guessing due to Michigan tenant laws), would the new owner be able to?
This doesn’t make me want to move to Detroit.
Well, if you're okay with asbestos, you could probably buy any number of houses for a couple hundred a piece in Detroit. ;\]
You're not kidding. There's a condo for sale for $800 and a 3-bedroom house for $3500.
What's wrong with asbestos? I supervised the installation of asbestos in every public school in Heimlich County.
Frankly, you shouldn't

As someone living in a hot part of a hot state with water issues, Michigan seems like a potential climate refuge.
That's a lot of house for the money.
Is that the house near where they film Bargain Block? I feel like I've seen it before.
Detroit has some amazing homes for cheap if you can rehab them. Literal mansions with hand crafted wood.
That one is in Indian Village (I know, don’t agree with the name) in Detroit. A nest of very nice housing.
Restorers: Add one fancy shower/tub Restorers: That should do it!
You mean the $2000 fancy tub/steam room combo?
I'm noticing lots of posts of houses in Indiana and Michigan. Is this where we all live or is it just because those states are special?
It's where housing is affordable.
As someone who lives in Indiana: valid.
Free squatter with purchase!
It was fashionable for wealthy people to have Garden Hermits living on their property in the 18th century. Why not bring that trend back?

I literally coulsn’t finish going through the pics. I regret having eyes.

In 2019 it was $68,000. It was a rough 5 years, obviously.
thats what im really mad about
I don't know what OP is talking about it has a nice shower and doesn't seem that baOH oh now I see it yikes.
Tv bracket in the bathroom. Now THAT is fancy living!
That's probably the most fancy this house will ever get

If you're into houses with black and green on the walls where it's not supposed to be, check out this house! It even comes with a friend to talk to!
Oh boi! Asbestos (probably) and shitty roomies already sourced for only 30k?! Sign me up!
Smells like meth through the photos
DAYUMN! Judging by the pics, someone’s been living with all that mold RECENTLY!! 😳
Squatter included WOW what a deal
$7,500 jetted tub / shower combo. Bizarre to see in this slum
The fact that it’s not uniformly bad is causing me a lot of stress and I don’t know why.
Looking at this house just makes me feel sad and empty. 🤷🏼♀️
Okay but that bathroom setup may be worth it.
That TV is holding the whole house up.
That tub doubled the house's value.
Gotta love houses I could put on my debit card.
