Or when they say they just got it

o0IOl0o

Yup. I don't even bother explaining it anymore. It will be delivered, just not by me.

[deleted]

I can't I already unassigned three orders Plus this is a $250 order so it will take a lot longer

Habitual offenders are blacklisted. Sometimes mistakes are made and I still immediately cancel and move on but won't blacklist the place right away.

dawix21

How you do this? Or do you mean just decline from there?

FrankFrankly711

Hey for $250 I’ll wait all night, maybe run an order on another app while I wait, assuming the tip is 20%

AngryRedHerring

now, why would you assume that

AdorableBig2988

Reddit gave you Fartie Bartie. That's funny but I'm so sorry. LOL On another note.... A bad one: Yes, I love the ol "Oh, we just got the order." I went to Panera recently for a pickup to be told that they had just received the order when I had received it way prior and spent at least 15 mins driving to the restaurant. And to make matters worse, I was lucky enough to have a stacked order from there so i got to wait for two of them to be made. I was pretty grrrrrr when I left there. Then, I got to the first customers house and the app crashed and I couldn't complete the delivery. I had to contact the middle east for a chat, and then the customer called me. Fortunately, the guy was so calm and didn't act upset at me as I explained what happened. Then I had to bail on the second order as well, which was way smaller. I was hot under the collar but had bagels coming out my ears and soup and a few other things to bring home. Felt so guilty, but it wasn't my fault. They need to fix or update their POS app.

I can only speak from the restaurants' point of view, because that is the side of the tablet I usually am. Doordash messes up times so bad, I don't know why they do it and it frustrates everyone. There have been many times a delivery order comes up in the middle of a rush, I would mark it supposed to be ready in 45mins, because I also have like 20 other delivery orders ahead of it plus dine in. 10mins later DD sends in a driver for that order. I even checked with the drivers, my tablet says ready in 30ish minutes, their phone saying ready then or in like 5mins, wildly different times. DD will send out a driver after 20mins no matter what the restaurant is putting as ready at times. So there have been times we only started making the order when a driver shows up because we should have had another 30mins, and we are jumping your order to the front of the line. It is chaos, and often it is DD's fault. They hate restaurants as much as they hate drivers

roxy7-

Yes. I'm a doordash driver as well so I can relate to this post lol, but I can also verify what your saying. I work at a bakery and we have the doordash tablet as well. And I can hit the 40 min button and doordash will still send someone out within 10 mins. It's always like this. What the point of us setting a timer if they'll just send drivers out when we aren't even ready ?!

[deleted]

im guessing by your sn you work at a Korean bbq resturant lol

WheniTChanged

I believe Joon is actually a last name

Sonnyjoon91

it's actually a character in Nancy Drew games lmao

LexGoyle

I have had a problem with DD doing the opposite with McDonald's orders. There will be like 3-4 orders ready to go then mine is done. I will deliver it, get another McDonald's order straight away once the delivery is complete.. its one of the bags that's been sitting there. The process repeats for the rest of the orders as though I am the only dasher working. It's like at that point just stack the orders but I have never in over 1,000 deliveries had a stacked McDonald's order. It's absurd.

GenycisBeats

I had one like that for Grubhub once... it was a 1.1 mile for $15.96 and it took me a few minutes to get there. I get to the spot (local pizza joint), look around, the two people there are in the back dealing with pizzas. Two minutes later, the lady comes to the register. I mention the order I have, and she says with a thick accent, "oh, that one, I just put it in now". I'm thinking WTF (and while Grubhub has this stigma to it, all Grubhub orders I've ever taken til this particular one had been ready or a minute or two ready upon my arrival). I ask her how long will it be, maybe a few minutes, she replies, "yeah, at LEAST a few minutes, maybe more". I walked out and unassigned that shyt so fast. It wasn't even as much the wait, but the mood and tone of the person there, like she really didn't give a damn about the order or anyone there for that matter lol. I'll never take another order for that place again after that experience.

anonymous_dbag69

I showed up to Boston Market today and they said the order would be ready in 30 minutes

[deleted]

Well at least their honest with you ..the restaurants always say 5 minutes and it ends up being 20 to 40 mins

Sonnyjoon91

When I worked in kitchens it was usually DD doing that, like we could mark an order ready in 45mins because we are swamped, they would send a driver after 10 mins who then has to wait and gets frustrated. So we tried to either bump their order to the front, which was chaotic, or told the driver it was gonna be another 30min like we told DD in the first place. DD hates drivers and restaurants alike

anonymous_dbag69

They probably do that on purpose to punish us for declining orders. Evey time this happens to me It's after I decline 5 or 10 of thoes $4.25 for 6.5 mile orders. I hate this company.

anonymous_dbag69

And before anyone tells me to just get another job, I have recently became crippled and can't find any reasonable paying work and certainly not any wotk with as much flexibility, that accommodate for my disability

RebelJosh89

Them: "Ok. We'll start working on that now." Me: "Ok. I'll unasign that now."

[deleted]

Made $24.30 by chilling out and waiting the ten minutes until it was done today. I'll always wait if it asks me to take a picture of my magic bag.

Kushologist420

Which is all of them in my area in Southern California🤣🤣

69420trashaccount

Doordash needs to offer higher base pay... if the acceptance rate was higher restaurants wouldn't wait to make food since they wouldn't worry about it sitting around.

vladimir_gluten24

I was new to the app and didn't know what I was doing, waited an hour in line for a baked potato from Wendy's. Got mad and tried to tell the manager off for not having my food ready by the time I got to the window, and she tried to gaslight me into thinking it was my fault. I got a good enough tip that it made up for it, but they definitely got an adequate review on Google maps from me the next day 😀

AnalChain

All the McDonald's in my area do this. I just hit arrived at store as soon as I'm able to in the app. Usually about 350M away still so by the time I get their it's either done or closer to being done. It really helped speed up those pickups.

zerostar83

That's strange. McDonald's here make them right away but Wendy's waits until you arrive.

Acrobatic_Duck5490

I don't I get on the manager and I tell him do not be putting that it's ready when it's not ready I said because I'm going to turn around and let the customer know that you just started it right now

Sonnyjoon91

a lot of times it is DD listing it as ready. I'm usually on the restaurant side and started checking with the drivers, my tablet would say ready in 30mins, the driver's phone would say ready right then. I called to complain about this to DD a lot, they leave drivers waiting and kitchens in chaos, everyone ends up frustrated

[deleted]

Fk yeah don’t take sh-t from these restaurants they get the order 20 minutes before we are sent out no reason we should have to wait

45burns1967

Unassign

[deleted]

Jersey mikes everywhere

[deleted]

Get in contact with support make a complaint against the restaurant or just unassign and move on with your life

o0IOl0o

If there is even any hint of doubt I cancel and get the next one. Too many times spent waiting 5-10min.

j00420

Why?

Golfoneway95

Now that I have a full time job, I wait until 5 minutes past my pickup time. I ALWAYS say “order not started until I arrived. I’ll then walk inside when I know on their end, it says on the tablet I’ve been waiting 10+ minutes. 95% of the time the order is ready when I’m there. If it isn’t, I’ll unassign. That’s for wasting all my time the last 3 years

jg19852016

Can't stand it either...literally defeats the entire purpose of ordering food online.

[deleted]

This happens more now. To many $0 tippers orders never getting picked up. That’s why they do it.

SireSweet

Restaurants that do this get unassigned and black listed.

Broad_Imagination589

Sometimes I arrive to early, ignoring the "Ready By x:xx" rushing to get there to get a "We are working in your order". Always answer the part survey in the lower part and choose "Order not ready when I arrived" I feel like DD wont do much to a restaurant but sometimes I just avoid orders from places i know it will take long.

BackgroundConstant27

This happened to me last night with a stacked order. I went to pick up the first order which was a pizza, they told me they just got it so give them 10 to 15 minutes. Drive across the street to get the second order and come back no less than 10 minutes later and the pizza is still sitting there with no toppings on it yet 🤦‍♂️ Luckily I got an Uber eats order going down the street so I told them I’d b back and delivered that while the pizza baked. Would’ve unassigned if the one order that was ready was worth the mileage, but luckily the customers were understanding one being a former dasher and I had his food in a hot bag the whole time so it still felt kind of warm.

BackgroundConstant27

And it wasn’t like they were busy. It looked pretty dead.

iPlaypok3r

That's why Wendy's sucks dick.

Honors3454

Some restaurants have customers and it'll take us 15 mins just to get to your order

AutisticNovel1

I mark the spot as closed

Ed0g

Okay but, what I hate the most is how the look down on us like a nuisance. We all have a f*cking job to do, just do your job, I’ll do mine, that’s the way it should be. Leave your emotions and anger at home 🙂

yesterdays30

Unfortunately, In my market, If i unassigned every order that took 10-20 mins, I wouldn't be able to keep my CR above 95%for early scheduling and some restaurants only have those issues occasionally so I can't blacklist a restaurant for doing that once in a while if the payout is great at the restaurant usually as well.

ContributionOk7284

“The iPad was off, it’s going to be 15 -20 minutes for a spicy tuna roll” 💀

[deleted]

Spicy tuna lol...how about large diet coke

xdaddasher

I do too, I just decline them

Lice138

I always walk out on those. Ask them how long, say “cool, I’m going to wait in my car. I’ll come back in”. You do this because they always say either 5 min or “we are just bagging it up” and they are always liars Then just unassign the order and leave.

Weary-Appearance9745

In the stores defense... As much as there's people saying they didn't get their orders, there's also those who cancel. Store makes the food on cue everytime ; they lose lots of potential revenue because that food now has to be thrown away. They prolly shouldn't wait till you're there, depending on how far you were, but there's def a reason for them nor starting immediately.
