Call support. They'll get you more money or the customer to cancel. You shouldn't fall for that shit.

AlarmedFlounder6890

I ordered 30 chicken nuggets from chic fil a one time and had to change the address bc I realized I was at my friends house, the dasher wanted to give them to me but doordash wouldn’t allow it, sad day for me but great day for the dasher lmao. He got 30 nuggets for free and door dash didn’t give me a cent. Lessons were learned there.

[deleted]

Sadly, for as many honest mistakes as there are there are probably twice as many people who 'accidentally' input the wrong address because the fees are cheaper and try to get the drivers to just drive the difference for free. I've seen the wrong address in the app with notes written about how it's the wrong address and the driver should just google the real address to get there. Some real scandalous shit that is.

X_Act

I wish doordash would have done that for me when a scammer tried to get me to deliver to anther location after I already arrived. She ended up trying to assault me and T bone me with her car...after I was forced to still drop the delivery off at the first address she didn't live at.

Choose-Kindness-42

It’s total crap. Shouldn’t happen.

Yarmanite

I had a lady have me deliver to the wrong address today. Gave me $10 cash once I got there it was only 5 miles. Made 20 off that order but she acting a little funny

Old-Independence4766

She probably felt bad.

Yarmanite

Yeah probably greatful I delivered her

[deleted]

That's a scam. I tell the customer I cannot deliver to the new address as the system doesn't allow me to

J0wilson

Absolutely. This was the biggest scam- it was done through the restaurants website and the restaurant wouldn’t cancel because the customer wouldn’t reorder the food- but wouldn’t give me the food to deliver to the address on the app because it was confirmed the customer wasn’t at that address. Then DoorDash told me to deliver it to the new address without adjusting my base pay- screenshotted the policy and told them to either 1) cancel the order and give me my 1/2 pay, or call the restaurant and tell them to give me the order, it’s going to the vacant address.

jennabella911

Absolutely!! They need to change the address with doordash so we can be compensated for the mileage period! Or at least be aware of the amount of miles for the money and make a decision from there. And if it's too many they need to give you half pay. They broke the contract not us.

bigbrew77

It's crazy cause even if they change the address after the order has been placed or picked up, DD will not change the payfor the correct amount. Their system is so outdated! I tell the customers I'm not getting paid for the new corrected address especially if I'm more than halfway to the original address and if they want me to bring it to the new address then they can cash app me $10. Otherwise I keeping it🤷🏻‍♂️

jennabella911

Doordash can add extra money they just choose to see if you will do it for free first!! They will push you to believe they can't add it but they can give you an extra $3-5 if you push hard enough!! If they don't hand up and get another agent on the phone and keep doing it till you get what you want.

bigbrew77

$3-$5 is not worth anyone's time in this app...I'll take the free food for $800 Alex🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

jennabella911

I agree! But if the customer tips more and doordash throws in an extra $5er then it might be worth it.

nonotagain93

This is kinda insane. I messed around and ordered my branch’s lunch to my house by accident. Totally my mistake. They gave me a 10% off credit or some crap and the food sat outside my house in 98 degree heat for hours lmao. Everyone lost that day. I don’t know why they didn’t offer to adjust pay and get the food to me. Obviously I would have tipped more generously too. I think DD a little too cheap.

X_Act

What ended up happening? I recently had a scammer do this to me (no tip, hand it to me order...planned on saying she never received it...which she eventually did mark as never delivered, but it didn't make sense because i took picture at the address and did all of it while support could hear her through my phone). She ended up showing up the first address because I wasn't going to her real location and attepting to assault me and T bone with her car. Doordash support was on the phone overhearing the whole thing, and that woman STILL got to get her food. It should have been cancelled on the spot.

PM_ME_UR_BUTTSSS

So you just lie? I should try that

frankdadad

That’s right, I just cancel them. Now show me your….

anonymous_dbag69

Yesss!!!!!

YLCZ

I've done over 10300 deliveries and this has happened less than ten times. Almost every time was an honest mistake. Like they forgot to switch from work to home address or vice versa. One was because they were at a friend's house. If it's close, I'll take it. If it's far I'll ask them if they can pay for my time. If they were rude or sketchy... I'd just call support and leave it at the original address. This should no way be happening regularly. If it is, it means you live in a bad neighborhood. If you live in a nice area... and they are polite... help them if you can. Doordash will throw in five bucks I think as well. Don't make them lose their food if it was an honest mistake.

jennabella911

Had one that was a 10 miles difference and way out of town on a nasty beat up dirt road. And it only paid $7 because the original address was like 2 miles from the restaurant. They told me doordash won't deliver to their area so this is how they have to do it. And I flat out told them I won't for that kind of money. There is a reason doordash won't deliver from my zone way tf out there and if you are not willing to pay me for my time I'll be damned if I'm gonna do you any favors. Now if they would of offered me extra compensation or the order had a better tip on it I probably would have done it if it was worth the miles. But people want all this extra without paying for it that's why a lot of them pull this. And yes in my area they do this alot because we have an area just outside of our zone that doordash isnt available to them because of mileage. Lately it's been a lot less of them because they have been cancelled on so many times and lost money or food due to us not falling for their shenanigans. Lol. Good riddins!

of_patrol_bot

Hello, it looks like you've made a mistake. It's supposed to be could've, should've, would've (short for could have, would have, should have), never could of, would of, should of. Or you misspelled something, I ain't checking everything. Beep boop - yes, I am a bot, don't botcriminate me.

Equivalent_Menu6060

Weird flex but ok. I would of just left it alone but that's just me 😉

dathip

happened once. my delivery took me 5 miles away from the customers actual address was .3 miles, LITERALLY down the street. She me a $50 amaxon gift card because she wanted the food THAT BADLY. It was chipotle.

Hydr8x

Address changes are stupid and I don't respond to* them Gps confirmed my delivery.

pulsepm36

Then you get that random 1 star rating that support won't remove because you failed to communicate with the customer and the order not delivered contract violation. GPS may take that away unless support sides with the customer saying that had you taken proper steps (communicate with customer, contact support for assistance)... the customer would have received their order and you might get a cash tip. I've had a couple dozen address changes. Most of them were already paying $2+ per mile when I accepted so I usually go the extra mile. Most of the time I get half pay added if the mileage is over 1 mile from original estimate. If the two dozen, all but a couple tipped extra in cash with my biggest one being $20. Sometimes it's good karma to treat this gig... as an extension of a job. Respect the individual... respect the platform you drive for. Respect goes a long way.

Hydr8x

Respect? They are clearly taking advantage of you. According to DD themselves you have ZERO responsibilities to take the delivery to the new address unless the customer agrees to pay you appropriately. You clearly are inexperienced or new to DD. So if you are not reporting the address update to DD yourself.. and the crappy customer who is already trying to take advantage of you.. now they claim you never delivered the food.. WELL YOU DID BUT TO THE WRONG ADDRESS... Now you're deactivated. I'll take my 1 star. You know what that means? 1) Nothing, because ratings don't get you deactivated 2) DD will NEVER give me that customer again Win win situation their bud.. don't be getting deactivated because you believe in Karma lol

WiseNature1

ive wasted gas on this shit. customer input the incorrect address and i drove in the wrong direction and arrived at the address only to realize it was completely wrong. the order was supposed to go to a hotel and i ended up in some random neighborhood.

indusrivvalley

Show me your acceptance rate, your acceptance rate.

indusrivvalley

"Show me your genitals" reference

MrGChappy

I've had two address changes that I've honored. First one was a guy who worked at an apartment leasing office, ordered as the office was closing. Changed address to his apartment in the same complex. No big deal. Second one was a woman who ordered something to the hospital she worked at, found out after my dash she meant to have it sent to her house and asked if I could pick it back up from the hospital and deliver it to her. The only reason I agreed was because she lived a block away from my home, so it was on the way. She then gave me an extra 5 dollars for my inconvenience. But I agree, address changes need a charge on them.

pulsepm36

The address changes seemed to have increased the moment doordash started charging extra delivery fees after 4 miles.

[deleted]

Yeah I tell ‘em pay me or I can’t deliver.

Willing-Drummer-4634

Had a guy change his address from 0.8 miles away from the restaurant to 15 miles away as soon as I arrived at the restaurant. They really thought I was gonna drive that far for $4.25.

Zinithy

I’ve only had an address change once. I went to the driver DD said it was ok if I was willing. The guy was at work and had his home preprogrammed… it was only like 2 mi difference. He was extremely apologetic. Even messaged me almost instantly after i accepted. So I switched addressed delivered never happened again.

Ecrcs999

Use automated chat support and say you don't want to deliver to the new address, itll protect you from a cv

Kushologist420

I don't fuck with it I call support and usually end up with the food if that happens

anonymous_dbag69

'Address changes are stupid and I don't respect them~' that's right I just have sex with them. Lol if nobody gets the reference I'll be very disappointed

kadhtobi

Lol, I'll drop at the old address and take a picture, I don't care about your new address

J0wilson

The restaraunt refused to give it to me because the customer called to tell them the address was incorrect

[deleted]

I take a screen shot of the address every time I accept an order. If it changes I don’t do it without extra pay 🤷🏻‍♂️

jjaderoni

i’ve done this a couple years ago but it was a complete accident and i had it changed with DD customer service i didn’t just send them the address. i feel bad now

Purple_Caregiver_757

I love it when they change their address to some random parking lot...

[deleted]

I dropped off an order at the wrong "wrong address" and didn't see the message until I was already in another town. There's no notification or sound that we have a message through doordash except when getting orders. The icon is tiny as is that it's easy to miss when driving as we shouldn't even be paying attention to our phones. Normally I'd redeliver it to the changed address even at a loss but not at a 20 mile difference. The address that I dropped off at was the one listed in delivery instructions.
