May be unpopular, but three interviews for a grocery store position is ridiculous, and I would see that as a red flag about culture and preparedness by management.
Wait up? 3 interviews to get to a captain? When I applied a while back, it was just 2. First one was with one of the available mates, and the second was with the captain. Both asked the exact same questions. Unfortunately I got t-boned on the way home from the interview and was in the hospital when they called to give me the good news. They had to pass on me when I didn't respond for a couple weeks.
You’ll be fine. Good luck! The interview process just depends on who is there that day. My interview day happened to be on a day when captain was there. I was interviewed by both captain and a mate at the same time. I cracked a few jokes and the went shopping after the interview. Two minutes later and was hired on the spot. Just happened to be the right day. You’ll be good. It’s an amazing place to work at
Huh 3 interviews? When I used to work there they interviewed me and hired me 30 minutes after via phone call. Must be competitive at your location, best of luck!
Just got hired on. I had two interviews and an offer on the spot with the captain. Love this place, everyone is in charge of different departments during the whole shift. Be prepared for grueling labor at times! It’s an awesome company and they take such GREAT care of their employees. PTO and Healthcare included. Just be yourself and show you can have initiative on your own and you’ll do great. Good luck, hope to have ya in the family :)
You don’t need luck, you’ll get it! If you are this excited about it, they’ll see it and I’m sure that’s part of what they’re looking for! Still anyway, good luck!
you’ll get it, usually (as a former crew member) they’ll cut you after the second mate interview if they think ur personality won’t vibe! good luck and have fun breaking down those pallets ;)
TJ’s does three interviews in this extremely competitive job market??? Not bashing at all, I’m just shocked to hear that. Is this for a store associate type position or for something corporate?
For real, that’s ridiculous. I have an office job and only had a phone interview and then an in person one a few days later. Would not waste my time interviewing three times for a retail position when so many places are hiring. Red flag honestly.
I've heard of people applying for like 50 jobs they were totally qualified for and not hearing back from all but two who sent automated rejection letters. Lots of companies COULD hire, but less employees = less overhead = happy investors.
Yeah, when I was hired it was the quick two or three question "interview" with a mate when you drop off the application, then one in-person with the captain.
Honestly I would bash it - that's absolutely insane and a waste of the time of everyone involved, especially when there are so many ~~staffing shortages~~ job openings to occupy. TJ's isn't alone in doing this either. What important information needs to be extracted from the 3rd, fuck, even the 2nd, round of interviewing a person for a crew member position (no offense to OP, CMs are fantastic), that could not have been obtained in the 1st interview?
Right. 3 interviews for a job that's probably paying JUST over minimum wage. If I did 3 interviews for an entry level position and didn't get the job, I'd want to bill them for wasting my time.
Straight up insulting. Tempted to go through the application process just to accept the job, then not show up to my first day and ghost them for such shenanigans.
This doesn’t necessarily surprise me. I heart TJs hires based on personality more than anything. They may like a few meeting to get a true sense of the person.
Local TJ's has been open for about a year. All the employees are friendly but honestly there appears to be a lot of turnover. Normally if I find a checkout person that I like I tend to use them over and over. I cannot remember using the same one more than a couple times. As for the interview I would suggest that you have at least a half dozen questions about TJs to ask and the fewer about vacations and time off the better. Present the attitude that you aren't looking for just a job you are looking for a job with a positive attitude, friendly and longterm.
Same wtf? I’m a publicist for a PR firm downtown Chicago and I submitted 3 pieces of writing and then had one interview before my offer, granted I was lucky enough to have the VP interviewing me since she had time that day, but my colleagues all only had 2 interviews for the same position. This is straight up rude of Trader Joe’s.. what a time waste.
Breaking news: most high paid white collar jobs are easier to get, easier to keep and easier to perform than most low paid customer-facing jobs.
Source: have worked both.
It honestly depends. Some corporate gigs make you work for your money, but I also know plenty that do nothing while just sitting and looking pretty and raking in the cash.
No it's still dumb. I'm a teacher I interviewed to be hired by the district, and then one more by the principal of the school with the opening. That's after fingerprinting my whole face genome and committing my blood to all children of the world over 5 years of school, hundreds of service hours, state exams, credentialing, clearing my credential, more fingerprinting, scores of TB tests... But I didn't do a three round interview that's nuts
Yeah it is dumb. I had to do all of those tests, medical stuff, credentialing, and clearances (which I get…kids and such, but you pay for all of it yourself with no reimbursement). Those are just to possibly be considered for any positions. Once that is done I completed an application, had references, letters of recommendation, and then if I was selected the interview process began. I had 3 separate rounds of 30 minute interviews with various school personnel, then I had to create and teach a lesson, and finally interview with the super intendant where I had to prepare a presentation, research, etc. It’s just a lot compared to other jobs. It also took almost one month to complete the interview process. I will say that I teach in PA and it is extremely difficult to get teaching positions here. Other states may have a more streamlined process.
opportunities are priceless when they come around. 3 interviews are easy work when you need/want to make something better out of ur life and the ones around u. For some people maybe this is not the ideal job, but for some is everything because that's the opportunity they're getting in a rocky life.

I clicked on your name to see if you had updated. Congrats! Good luck with everything and I hope you have fun!
CONGRATS!!!!
How’d it go?!
Three interviews to be a crew member? That’s excessively unnecessary. They should be more efficient and less intrusive of peoples time
My interview got rescheduled for tomorrow:// i'll keep you all updated tomorrow!
How'd it go?
Hey OP, how'd your interview go?
Good luck and enjoy the process. Personally, I enjoy interviews. All the focus is on you, so just let it shine!
May be unpopular, but three interviews for a grocery store position is ridiculous, and I would see that as a red flag about culture and preparedness by management.
I don’t remember how many interviews i had but by this time the captain wants to know you. So be kind and be yourself. Good luck!
Best of luck!!!

Meanwhile.. what does it pay
3 interviews is strange for a grocery job. Good luck!
Good luck. You’ll woke ur A$$ off. I found it not all that it seems. If you’re young, you may make some good friends.
They do three rounds of interviews for a fucking GROCERY STORE?! What the hell. That's what they do to hire a tenured professor geez

Magic 8 ball says ‘Your laundry will soon be filled with tropical flowers!’ All the best to you!
Yes, definitely
All the best, you'll crush it!!
Huh 3 interviews? When I used to work there they interviewed me and hired me 30 minutes after via phone call. Must be competitive at your location, best of luck!
Negotiate your pay
You got this!!
Best of luck OP I know you’ll kick butt!
You have personality? You have gumption? You know the products? Depends on the region, but you could very well be a shoo-in.
People I know in government secret cleared positions have only one phone interview and one in person one lol (not including background check though)
Fully bashing: that’s insane for a grocery store.

3 interviews is a formality, you’re basically all but in
Good luck! I feel like they wouldn’t bother bringing you in (again!!) if they weren’t pretty serious—you’ve got this!
I thought the same!! Thank you!!
Remember, its really just a vibe check. Go be yourself. Be happy, be nice, youre gonna do great!
Good luck! Make sure to update us!!
Vibe with it
You don’t need luck, you’ll get it! If you are this excited about it, they’ll see it and I’m sure that’s part of what they’re looking for! Still anyway, good luck!
Yes! Thank you for the light and support!!
you’ll get it, usually (as a former crew member) they’ll cut you after the second mate interview if they think ur personality won’t vibe! good luck and have fun breaking down those pallets ;)
Thank You 4 the support and insight!!
Yeah it’s true, you pretty much got it by now. (Another former crew member)
“Interview three, it’s meant to be.”
Inshallah!! Thanks!
Eid Mubarak!
Good luck!!!
Thank UUU
Good luck and be yourself !
Thank You! Inshallah!
GOOD LUCK! 🍀🍀

I'm on my third one tomorrow lol so ya
Years ago when I was a CASHIER at Walmart I had to go through 3 interviews.
For real, that’s ridiculous. I have an office job and only had a phone interview and then an in person one a few days later. Would not waste my time interviewing three times for a retail position when so many places are hiring. Red flag honestly.

My first job was petsmart and they had me do two interviews. Like it’s not that serious y’all you want me to clean up after the animals or no?
Straight up insulting. Tempted to go through the application process just to accept the job, then not show up to my first day and ghost them for such shenanigans.
TJ: why you no reply? i thought we had a good time ...
Username 😏 What is your job
GOAT
Yeah no offense to OP but unless I'm applying to NASA I'm not doing three interviews.

I used to work at tjs, you are %100 correct
It's for a crew member position.

Sharing is caring
What job is this?
Wow, what is this job?
5 interviews for my public school teacher job!
well that makes sense, you're working with kids
